Phew!

Looking forward to hearing about @sonjadog and @scottishmouse in London.

Shoreditch is quite small (not as small as Marylebone ) and I usually find the staff there very pleasant.

Terrible typing in title. Sorry.

ScottishMouse · 03/05/2024 11:04

Thanks for the thread and London store tip @Countmeout. Shoreditch will probably be the easiest for me to get to. Hoping to try the new stripe shirt with the drawstring waist. Not really got my eye on much else but I have just bought some non-Toast things for summer so don’t have lots to spend anyway.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 03/05/2024 11:11

Thanks for the new thread @Countmeout . Also looking forward to hearing reports from @sonjadog and @ScottishMouse .

Stoic123 · 03/05/2024 11:13

Checking in. Thanks for the new thread.

oddandelsewhere · 03/05/2024 11:51

@Countmeout and@Stoic123 I so agree about the armholes, I was really hoping for a lovely new dress with sleeves( maybe in that blue stripe fabric like the square neck sundress) I don't think we get enough hot weather for a whole wardrobe of sleeveless dresses and I hate the feeling of a t shirt under a dress, they always seem to end up in a roll round my middle. I think a lot of manufacturers are also aware of 'modest' dressing now, Toast might sell more dresses with sleeves than they think!
I'm off to take the skirt off the navy seersucker check dress from the last drop and re-make it with gathers rather than pleats. The pleats all point in the same direction(like a kilt) and I always thought they would look better pointing towards the middle but thought I might get used to it. I haven't.

MiracleToast · 03/05/2024 12:47

Thanks @Countmeout

Checking in after a while of not much Toasty action. This week is unusually warm where I am so I ordered the apron dress in black coffee after the success of my birthday purchase last year (black coffee linen summer dress). This one has thin straps and a low back which I was drawn to. I wore it yesterday in the sun and can just about get away with it on its own in the garden but probably wouldn’t wear it without something underneath for venturing out. If toast could make this dress with just a little bit more coverage of the side chest it would be my absolute perfect dress. For anyone interested in sizing I got a Small as it claimed it was easy fit and it is indeed the right size, although in real life I’m a large 10 leaning 12.

I received the apron dress wrapped in tissue along with the summer look book which was a lovely surprise. Not much I’m keen on from the latest drop but I still have many items in my wish list that I’m working towards.

Today I’m in the garden again prepping veg beds and wearing the black coffee linen trousers and black coffee linen shirt from previous sales and the birthday straw hat. Feeling very comfortable and grateful for the sunshine.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend 🩷

AmethystMoonShine · 03/05/2024 13:36

Thank you for the new thread. Might be able to get to Oxford Toast later if travel time permits! Fingers crossed.

neveradullmoment99 · 03/05/2024 16:03

Just marking the thread. Thank you for the new thread @Countmeout
Did you see they had the blue dress in stock in the other sizes?
I have ordered enough this month so not going to buy but it is lovely.

Countmeout · 03/05/2024 16:37

Yes @neveradullmoment99 i ordered it when it appeared last night. Two sizes not convinced they will fit. It’s been dispatched so will likely reach me by Wednesday. I have been relatively good this month.

neveradullmoment99 · 03/05/2024 17:12

Oh look forward to hearing about it or seeing it if you are brave enough to post :) It looks beautiful.

OftenOrange · 03/05/2024 17:43

@Countmeout The blue dress looks so fresh and summery , hope you’ll love it .

@ScottishMouse Shoreditch store is lovely and they’ve got a display of Kantha pieces there which is beautiful .
Stock is usually reasonable , Islington better .
never taken to Marylebone , probably always been in when it’s too busy and haven’t been given any help.

ScottishMouse · 03/05/2024 18:11

Thanks @OftenOrange, I’m aiming for Shoreditch.

ScottishMouse · 03/05/2024 18:14

I’ve asked previously on the fb selling group, but I’m going to cheekily ask here if anyone has the navy alpaca buttoned tank from last year/earlier this year in a size L (or maybe M) that they no longer wear and fancy selling to me? My sis “borrowed” mine and I never got it back. She doesn’t live in the same country as me, so it may be gone forever and I’d like to replace it. 🤞🏼

AvaGardens · 03/05/2024 18:58

Thank you @Countmeout 😊

mizu · 03/05/2024 19:59

@ScottishMouse no help sorry but your post made me chuckle. I lived in Tokyo many moons ago and used to 'borrow' the odd thing from my sister when I was back here and then pack it in my suitcase and take it back to Japan Grin

I very much like this skirt and the top with it. May be able to get to Oxford TOAST next weekend to try on.

ScottishMouse · 03/05/2024 20:03

I have been known to “borrow” from her too @mizu , though I’m pretty sure I have never kidnapped anything and brought it abroad.

faustina · 03/05/2024 20:34

Thank you for the new thread @Countmeout - I always love a new one because it doesn't take forever to load on the page

I was quite underwhelmed by all the sleeveless dresses which I almost never wear, and like @oddandelsewhere I'm not fond of wearing tshirts underneath. the green gingham is lovely and fresh - Mathildawears has been showing it off on Instagram this week and it looks great

I'm still not feeling that summery so can't really get my head around what gaps I have in my wardrobe. There have been a couple of warm sunny days but the norm is still very much cold and rain rain rain

Hope you find a replacement for your unreturned knitted tank @ScottishMouse - there should be some rule like there is for children when you take them abroad without both parents - a letter of permission should be required 😁

sonjadog · 03/05/2024 22:12

So, I am back and post-dinner! I went to Chelsea and Notting Hill in the end. I tried on a lot of stuff but didn’t buy anything in the end. Nothing was quite right. The new collection was a disappointing for me. The material is too thin for my use and the sizing is noticeably smaller, especially over the bust. The assistents were very nice and helpful, so no complaints there.

AmethystMoonShine · 03/05/2024 22:30

I made it to Oxford.
I tried on the Panelled organic indigo denim trousers and wore them out of the shop 😂
I also tried the wind breaker dress in wax green. I love it but I just can’t wear it without anything underneath as it’s too cut away for what I’m comfortable revealing! I had a tee on under it and it’s just not me. I want a dress I can just wear on its own. Plus it’s too hot to wear tees under dresses in summer. Annoying as it’s lovely fabric and colours.
Very helpful and friendly staff 😃

AmethystMoonShine · 03/05/2024 22:31

I should add…. To be clear….I did pay for the trousers!

Countmeout · 04/05/2024 10:05

Sorry to hear your shopping trip was so unsuccessful @sonjadog . Can you tell all of us which items were particularly small on the bust so we could maybe make a better guess when ordering? I have a bust and find it difficult to guess what size to aim for. I don’t live anywhere near a Toast shop and only get to London once a year.
I know others on here have a similar issue. I am not convinced by their measurements as often fit depends on the cut and style of a garment.

ScottishMouse · 04/05/2024 21:24

Has anyone tried the Trippen Alex sandals? They are so spendy, but I know the quality and comfort of Trippen is supposed to be ace. My sis has a pair of Trippen shoes and swears they are the best shoes she has ever had. I’m kind of hoping they might not suit my wide feet.

SaffyRosie · 07/05/2024 07:12

Hello all

I live in Portugal and only visit the UK once I year.

I'm back in England towards the end of May and wish to visit a Toast shop to buy a few items. Normally I buy dresses and prefer those with some sort of sleeve (saggy ageing fat arms). It's too hot in Portugal in the summer to wear t-shirts under dresses.

I have 3 questions

  1. I'm going to be based In Pangbourne near Reading for a few days and only have time to visit one shop. So I want to go to the one with the best/biggest selection. Should I go to Oxford or London? And if London which shop?
  1. I'm pear shaped but 5ft 10" tall. Can anybody of a similar height and body shape recommend any particular dresses that will suit me? I may order a few items to my Pangbourne address before I arrive.
  1. Are any of the trousers flattering for pear shapes?

Thanking you all in advance.

Just checking in to say thanks for the new thread, and all the chat on the last one!

I must say I’m not particularly enthused by the new season stock. Part of it is because it’s been a slow start to spring in my corner of Scotland, and to be honest, another part of it is the cost of the items I do like. For example the clamp dyed skirt is just too expensive for what (for me)will be a very short season wear. Sadly, the quality of the fabric used in the basic jersey pieces just isn’t as good as it used to be. I’ve got Toast t shirts from 3-4 years ago that still have more body than the few I bought this year.

Whinge over! I still enjoy all the Toastie chat, get enormous vicarious pleasure from all the shop visits, and my wish list is still full!
