Just to let the EU Toasties know that there is a 10% discount code for EU purchases (well for Ireland ones at least, but I’m assuming it works in the rest of the EU. It’s WELCOMEEU

Sadly the 10% doesn’t remotely make up for the bonkers exchange rate and the customs charges

Hello
Old old poster here popping back in

I felt I had become a bit saturated with toast wardrobe wise and needed a break

Has anyone tried the Garment dyed linen barrel leg trousers?
I'm fairly pear-shaped and a UK 12-14
All thoughts on sizing/cut welcome

I'm observing an awful lot of repetition of styles and simply cannot justify another blue and white ikat/ hand dyed skirt or green item.
So much green!

ScottishMouse · 07/05/2024 11:15

I tried those trousers @Poplinskirt. The fit was perfect for me if a little long, but I am an apple rather than a pear. Size small was a good fit, I am a size 10 on my bottom half but with a robust mid section. But….i didn’t buy them as I did not like the fabric. I thought it seemed cheap, quite shiny, and they looked like a crumpled heap within seconds of putting them on. Sorry, that’s not very encouraging, but hopefully the sizing info is helpful.

ScottishMouse · 07/05/2024 11:17

Still in London. Managed to visit the Shoreditch store. I was very underwhelmed. I found the having to knock on the door for it to be opened, and the sales assistants just standing around watching me, quite off-putting. I didn’t see the few things I was interested in trying, and I didn’t ask if they had them. It’s a long way for Londoners, but if you are in Scotland at any point, I highly recommend the Edinburgh store in comparison.

sonjadog · 07/05/2024 12:37

@Countmeout The one that I thought was most noticeable was the blue poplin stripe sundress. It wasn't wide enough for me around the bust, but even if it had been, there wasn't enough fabric to cover the bust vertically either. It would have fallen straight from mid-boob on me. I tried the dark green sundress as well. It was too tight around the boobs now too, and also it was a bit too ordinary for me to be willing to pay Toast prices for it. I looked at the gingham skirt which I thought I might love, but again, it underwhelmed me. I don't think the material is as good as the skirts I got last summer, and the colours are a bit too muted.

On the whole, I found both shops I visited disappointing. They didn't seem to have a lot of stock which annoys me as I don't particularly like shopping and I don't want to visit a lot of different shops. If I didn't know the brand online and had just walked off the street for a browse, I don't know if I would have gone again.

Hi. Newbie here. I’ve seen a few things that I like. Ive asked for 10% off but seems it’s only for USA. Does uk have a similar ? Or can you refer a friend and if so get some discount?

thanks!

Countmeout · 07/05/2024 13:15

@sonjadog the sizing is a mystery. I am not sure they have helped things just made it impossible to predict what size might fit.
i know what you mean about the poplin dress I have tried a similar style in Nobody’s Child and it had a similar fit in my normal size.

The merchandising does sometimes make the stock in shops feel sparse. They seem to prioritise aesthetics over actually having stuff people can try on.

What size is the Edinburgh store @ScottishMouse ? Is it bigger than Shoreditch? Sorry your shopping trip was so disappointing. I see no one has said the have the Alix sandals , I don’t either but for me I always avoid anything that my big toe has to go into and I can’t see how it would be comfortable.

I got my poplin dress today @neveradullmoment99 I ordered 2 sizes given how tiny it seemed and even then it was doubtful. However it’s all good. It is cut like the crinkle pinafore except that it is lower at the back. I kept the 12 ( usually buy 10/12 in Toast) the bigger size seemed too big at the sides (like the crinkle pinafore which I had also ordered in 2 sizes) The 12 is snug but not tight and I can still get a T-shirt under it if I wanted. It is verrry blue and long but I like my dresses long. For context for the bust I have just bought a new bra and decided to do that down a band up a cup thing and ended up with a 34G which is so unbelievably comfortable I am amazed .

Hi @SaffyRosie I'd go for Oxford. They are very friendly and carry a good range - more than some of the London shops. They often only display one size in each garment but just ask for the size you want to try and they'll go and fetch it from upstairs....which I think is where their stock lives. I was there on Friday and they had a good range in.

ScottishMouse · 07/05/2024 13:50

The Edinburgh store is a little bigger than Shoreditch because it also has a basement floor @Countmeout. I also feel like it squeezes a lot more stock into the store. Like you @sonjadog the Shoreditch store would not have made me interested in Toast if I didn’t already know the brand.

AvaGardens · 07/05/2024 14:57

@SaffyRosie I can vouch for Oxford branch too, and yes, don't forget to ask for any sizes you don't see, as they keep quite a bit in stock.

The shop is very spacious, relaxed and staff are very obliging and friendly.

AvaGardens · 07/05/2024 15:01

@SaffyRosie forgot to say, it's spacious because there is another floor upstairs too, so don't miss out out on that 😊

Countmeout · 07/05/2024 16:36

For @neveradullmoment99 .
I am not young but don’t care about arms etc ever since being on a holiday and a lovely lady older than me wore a very sleeveless and backless dress and didn’t give a monkeys about her arms her back . She looked marvellous.

The hems are all french seamed on this one. If you were very tall there’s a 2 inch hem on it. I’m 5’4”.
The blue is more or less as shown. Inevitably has pockets. (Side)

Hi, Yes I have the red ones. I'm a small Pear and not many trousers suit me but these do. They are beautiful.

Hello all

I live in Portugal and only visit the UK once I year.

I'm back in England towards the end of May and wish to visit a Toast shop to buy a few items. Normally I buy dresses and prefer those with some sort of sleeve (saggy ageing fat arms). It's too hot in Portugal in the summer to wear t-shirts under dresses.

I have 3 questions

  1. I'm going to be based In Pangbourne near Reading for a few days and only have time to visit one shop. So I want to go to the one with the best/biggest selection. Should I go to Oxford or London? And if London which shop?
  1. I'm pear shaped but 5ft 10" tall. Can anybody of a similar height and body shape recommend any particular dresses that will suit me? I may order a few items to my Pangbourne address before I arrive.
  1. Are any of the trousers flattering for pear shapes?

Thanking you all in advance.

Hi, I'm a Pear but shorter (5,5) so not sure if these will work for you but I have the garment dyed linen barrel leg, cotton fisherman and the panelled cotton linen ones. Most trousers look wrong on me but these don't.

lordloveadog · 07/05/2024 18:14

@Countmeout that looks fabulous on you! Absolutely stunning

Stoic123 · 07/05/2024 18:22

@Countmeout - that dress looks fab on you.

I'm dithering over the garment dyed linen dress in Puck as it is such a lovely colour but I do not need yet another Toast linen dress.

AvaGardens · 07/05/2024 18:39

@Countmeout that really is lovely on you and a beautiful shape, I hope you keep it!
Mmm, now very tempted 😅

sonjadog · 07/05/2024 19:09

That looks great on you!

Poplinskirt · 07/05/2024 19:37

Thank you @ScottishMouse and @JJkate

Opposing views but I think I might give them a go as I need casual summer trousers and I like the look of the cut

@Countmeout that's a beautiful dress on you
Let's hope we have a good summer !

QueenJaineApproximately · 07/05/2024 20:09

Thanks for the new thread @Countmeout . That blue dress looks beautiful on you. 😊

mizu · 07/05/2024 20:15

Lovely lovely blue dress. I have had a quick look at the look book TOAST emailed and this looks like my kind of dress. Not out yet though.
