That was good customer service @ScottishMouse .

I eventually watched the live. It was interesting to see the same dress on different sizes /heights. I liked the patchwork dress but did anyone notice the pattern was placed differently on them both and I preferred the one that had a darker pattern on both shoulders. Obviously would be a bit random which you’d get if not shopping in person.

Beautiful jumpsuit @Qweesh . Thanks for the information re the colour.

Well my excitement about getting my hands on the brown gingham dress from last year has been short-lived. It arrived this morning and the fabric is very obviously wonky where top and skirt had been sewn together. Probably why it was returned last sale. I’m not going to bother trying to get it replaced, I returned it straight away as I was going to be passing a store.
While in there I tried on the blue tie neck poplin shirt on a bit of a whim. I had tried it in my usual size (S/M) ages ago but it was so enormous I didn’t bother trying the smaller size then. That size was a much better fit, so I bought it, but I do wonder if it is still a bit big and shapeless. I need to try it with other things. Does anyone have it?

OftenOrange · 22/05/2024 17:54

I think the Asawa linen shirt is best in XS , but if it shrinks in the wash it will loose appeal .
Does anyone who owns it have experience of washing ?
Thanks !

ScottishMouse · 22/05/2024 20:17

Sorry @OftenOrange i haven’t washed mine yet. I went for the bigger of the two sizes I tried because I felt it lost a bit of its style when it wasn’t oversized, but it is probably a tiny bit big so I wouldn’t mind a small bit of shrinkage to be honest.

OftenOrange · 24/05/2024 18:42

@ScottishMouse Thank you, I’ve decided to keep the smaller one , it still looks generous and the S drowns me in an unflattering way .
I shan't be chucking it in the washing machine anyway!

Has anyone got/tried cotton/linen Alix trousers in old sizing (6/8/10/12 etc) and in new sizing (xs/s/m etc) and can tell me how they compare? I have 8 in old sizing and would like a new pair, but not sure what size to go for. (Asking specifically about the cotton/linen ones as I have found the sizing on the indigo ones to be a bit bigger.)

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 25/05/2024 12:36

I get quite a few requests from Toast to review the items I've bought. However, sometimes it just clicks through to the product page rather than allowing me to post a review. This has happened to me today with the Olive Oil shorts, it goes through the review page but doesn't stop there. Is this just me, or a system fault (or perhaps they don't like my reviews 😁).

And also the Gabis - has the sizing changed on these. Reviews suggest they run big which makes me think they are the same sizing they have always been. I have an old 6 but want a bigger size - is that still an 8 or will I need to go to a 10 now? Anyone have any experience of old & new Gabis?

faustina · 25/05/2024 14:25

@ScottishMouse with the alixes, it seems to vary according to each season which is very annoying. I have the brass and the cinnamon (?) pairs which I'm sure are the new sizing and they're way smaller than the old ones, but then I also have a pair of beige (desert cactus?) and the slate in the old sizing and they are both completely different from each other - the stale being smaller and quite a lot shorter than the beige. I also tried on one of the checked pairs in new sizing and it was so ridiculously big I have to send it back. Which ones are you thinking of?

ScottishMouse · 25/05/2024 14:28

Yeah, suspected this @faustina. It’s so frustrating. I am looking for a replacement for a slate pair, which are an old size 8 but have always been too big, even though I also have a rusty brown pair (but older than the cinnamon ones) which I bought about the same time as the slate ones, and are also an 8, but are much smaller. And I have indigo ones which also fit in a size 6. 🤷‍♀️

faustina · 25/05/2024 14:31

@ScottishMouse Their sizing really is a nightmare isn't it? If you're buying preloved, just make sure you get the measurements. I've tried two pairs in slate (sold one) and honestly neither are quite as perfect as the other colours

ScottishMouse · 25/05/2024 15:09

I’m thinking I might just not bother@faustina. It’s just too much hassle with sizing sometimes. Recently, I ordered two shirts in the same size, when I meant to order two different sizes to try, and the difference between the two was a few inches. I basically got to try on two sizes anyway!

I've had this a couple of times, but it usually works if you try again later.

No1Mousie · 25/05/2024 16:02

@ScottishMouse the Gabi sizing doesn’t seem to have changed. I ordered the pink, storm blue and a random pair of green ( not the loden) that came back into stock in my size. All fit nicely except the elastic in the green is too slack. I am awaiting a response from CS about the green pair. .

ScottishMouse · 25/05/2024 16:09

Thanks @No1Mousie. I really hoped I would squeeze into mine, but they are tight everywhere, and just don’t hang well as a result. I might try ordering a size up and selling on my old ones if they work.

Countmeout · 26/05/2024 12:00

@ScottishMouse re the Alix, last time I bought in sale I looked at the measurements and compared to my best fitting pair. That worked quite well for me.

@ScottishMouse i recently bought the Gabis in soft black and they were as big as they have always been. I have some blue ones (not storm blue) and a beige pair from about 4 years ago in a 10 and they are basically the same size as the black ones a bought a month ago. I have 2 pairs of size 12 that are now a bit big and look v baggy!

ScottishMouse · 26/05/2024 22:57

I overheard in a store earlier this week that there is a new drop coming on June 6th. And I’m guessing, based on last year, that the summer sale might be around two weeks later.
If this horrible weather continues here, I’ll be looking out for knitwear & cosy socks!

Brillenbar47 · 27/05/2024 07:31

Thank you @ScottishMouse you read my mind! Was just coming on to ask if anyone thought there would be another drop before the mid June sale x

I have just ordered the deep v neck jumpsuit in green. I got the deep v dress in denim in the last sale and have enjoyed it for the versatility so am hoping that the jumpsuit will do likewise. Disappointed with the number of jumpsuits. I had the navy linen pinstripe from a few seasons ago but have just put it in to rework donation - it is a 6 and just too tight. Not really anything to replace it with ☹️

Qweesh · 27/05/2024 13:10

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m starting to get mighty fed up of all these ‘drops’. I thought Toast were supposed to be slow fashion?

faustina · 27/05/2024 13:22

Everyone is doing drops now - it's annoying isn't it?

I think the weather is really hitting sales (not just toast) -I have a huge stack of things I haven't yet been able to wear so I don't have any urge to buy anything new. I think I read somewhere it's been the most miserable spring for 200 years - it really feels like that!

Qweesh · 27/05/2024 14:52

No the weather isn’t helping at all, it really has been miserable. I mean, my garden is flourishing, sort of, but let’s gloss over all of my beautiful tulips drowning.

I too have a stack of summery things waiting to be worn. In particular the Dip Dye dress, but I’m terrified to wear it with even a slim chance of rain because of the do not machine wash instructions. I’m probably being silly but I’m starting to wonder if it’s actually practical in this country and that maybe I should just return it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Stoic123 · 27/05/2024 15:52

The weather isn't inspiring at all. I made it to a couple of Toast shops at the weekend (Mayfair and Marylebone). Neither one had much in stock so SS24 is still not proving fruitful for me.

I've had some good Toast Vinted finds recently so that is keeping me going.

faustina · 27/05/2024 16:19

My best buys so far this summer have been two Uniqlo/Ines de la Fressange oversized cropped hooded jackets. Not very summery but they've certainly come in handy - and they look good with my Alixes

AvaGardens · 28/05/2024 08:18

@faustina you're right, these sporadic 'drops' make it difficult to plan a cohesive wardrobe, as you don't know if you can add to what you purchased a few months prior.
I suspect when you get to Toast price points they are a considerable purchase.
I know if I see something I really like I'll get it straight away or add it to my sale list, and maybe they need to encourage further buying mid season, to encourage customers like me!
As you say, the weather doesn't help, I'm loathe to buy too much obviously 'summer' clothing, a dismal spring means a very short lived summer wardrobe.
