Echoing the others on a very lovely supportive group! Also a gynae issue sufferer here (and half way through a 1st ivf cycle to boot). 💐 all round!

I thiiiink I watched the live, it was a recent date. The weirdly extra expensive and clunkily named "buttoned cotton linen canvas dress" (please can I have a job writing item descriptions for toast) wasn't something I'd consider from the pictures. But when she tied it round the front I loved it. Why not have that as one of the item photos?

Just saw the mulmul lounge dress and would love to try it on. Not sure it suits the model though I'm not the same build/colouring. My credit card has received all its return money and my brain is incorrectly telling me it's free money. My sale purchases were meant as "here's a treat for what you're going through" but I can't keep going, can I?!

Stoic123 · 21/07/2024 10:26

@hicat - why not if affordable and you will wear?

Final sales item arrival today (temporarily lost in transit). Lovely bread board which is staying. Trousers in last order are going back- love the Kathe pair but just can't make the 'pear' colour work with the rest of my wardrobe.

Total sale tally: bread board, Riverstone (in constant use @faustina), 1 pair Alix trousers and the Midnight tiered dress (earmarked for Xmas parties).

More modest tally than normal: wardrobe gaps have shrunk (non existent really to be honest), I want to wear the stuff I already have and I'm being much more realistic about what I will actually wear in my real life.

faustina · 21/07/2024 12:56

@Stoic123 - you've reminded me about my other sales purchase which didn't go back - the incense stick holder! They're very good at plain, useful homeware which looks right
I'm also reaching the point of a much less gappy wardrobe. Maybe Toast is doing me a favour by not having so many things I want to keep.

Apart from Toast and a couple of pairs of sandals, all I've bought this summer has been another pair of Cos shorts, a pair of Le bon Shoppe balloon pants, and then my star bargain (on vinted) of a brand new Ivy tshirt (so much nicer quality than the Toast ones) and a Navygrey navy heritage slouchy crew which I don't think has been worn.

@hicat - if you have space for another dress and it's within your budget and the Toast one is perfect, then it's definitely worth trying,

ScottishMouse · 21/07/2024 16:55

I have never heard of Ivy @faustina but had a quick look there and they look great. I especially like the look of the long sleeved rib ones for under pinafores and sweaters. Sorry to derail from Toast chat, but what can you tell us about sizing/quality/etc? Thanks.

faustina · 21/07/2024 17:04

@ScottishMouse - I have three of them now and the sizing really depends on the style - one is really oversized, the other two less so (but none of them are the one you mention unfortunately!) She is very active on Instagram with lots of videos about the fit - also the website is quite helpful. The quality is excellent, and the customer service too. It says not to tumble dry which put me off at first but I have done in the winter/rain and there was no problem

ScottishMouse · 21/07/2024 17:06

Thanks @faustina. Cheaper than toast T-shirts too. I really struggle with T-shirts but think I might order a few of these to try.

ScottishMouse · 21/07/2024 20:34

Just put some Ivy tees in a basket @faustina. Would you mind telling me what style you have and what size you have (and maybe how that compares to some Toast tees)? Ideally I would order a bunch of styles in a couple of sizes each, but that adds up to £££.
Thanks!!

Stoic123 · 21/07/2024 20:43

@faustina - you inspired me to review buys since April 1st. Quite a bit of preloved Toast this spring/summer (prices seem down a bit?) - 4 dresses (ikat or linen), 2 jumpers, a jacket and shirt ( c£280 total). The dresses & jumpers are fab but jacket/shirt will be sold on- easy recoup at prices paid.

Very little non-Toast: PJ bottoms from Gabrielle Parker (sale), a Vinted Wildfox sweatshirt and a Hush t-shirt (sale). Also succumbed to the boat shoe trend (Jones Bookmaker).

My bank account would be nicely plump but it's been expensive elsewhere.

faustina · 21/07/2024 20:50

I have the Erin in navy with white stripes in an 8 and it's too oversized for me so is on the FB selling group. I'd say it equates to an old size Toast easy fit in small. Then I have the Sadie in red stripes in a 10 and it's quite a bit more fitted - maybe similar to the lounge tee in L which I just bought in the Toast sale? And then yesterday I received a BNWT (via vinted) Audrey in black in a 12 which is pleasantly oversized on me, maybe similar to the Toast lounge tee in XL which I returned because I didn't feel it was worth keeping. I found the lounge tee sizing really really small to size. I hope that helps a bit - I know you prefer more fitted tops than I do so maybe not much help - sorry!

ScottishMouse · 21/07/2024 21:21

That is super useful @faustina thank you!
What fb selling group are you using? Is it the one someone referred to a while back, and I think you might have sent me the link for? I tried to join but never got a response.

faustina · 21/07/2024 21:26

Yes that's the one- it's not busy like the toast group. I think the link was broken before? If you message me via fb I can try to send you another link tomorrow maybe?

faustina · 21/07/2024 21:28

@ScottishMouse I actually remember your name ! Will have a go in the morning

LuciaRising · 22/07/2024 17:38

Throw away username

I have received an order today with a shirt with a huge tear , at leat one inch long on the cuff.
Absolutely baffled as to how they didn't spot this when the garment was neatly folded in tissue.
Emailed and it's gone straight back.
I hope it doesn't go out to anyone else ...

ScottishMouse · 22/07/2024 22:54

I think this may have been discussed somewhere previously, but I can’t find it now…
Has anyone had shrinkage of the heavier weight crinkle cotton items? I washed my check crinkle pinafore for the first time and it looks to have shrunk a little. It’s not quite dry and I haven’t tried it on yet, but I’m worried, as it was already very snug on the bust (even more snug than when I bought it earlier this year, sigh), so I have no room for shrinkage.
This evening I packed away all the things from my wardrobe that are not fitting right since I put on weight, and I don’t want to have to add this dress to that box. My wardrobe is almost empty ☹️

Stoic123 · 23/07/2024 07:27

@ScottishMouse - yes, they do shrink but consensus on here is that it is a result of crinkles tightening rather than permanent shrinking of material. Before you pack away, it might be worth wearing your pinafore around house (before wearing out) to see if it loosens up.

Tendency has put me off buying things in that material again.

ScottishMouse · 23/07/2024 08:29

Ah thanks @Stoic123. That makes sense. Will try on before packing away (or selling).

lordloveadog · 23/07/2024 13:54

Yes, me too. A crinkle skirt. I was very upset. But stretching while wet helped and it hasn’t shrunk again on subsequent washes.

oddandelsewhere · 23/07/2024 17:39

Most of the crinkle garments say 'iron back to shape' on the care labels. It works well.

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/07/2024 20:43

The last of my sales stuff took a while but arrived at the end of last week. I am keeping the indigo cotton twill dress, sized up to a 14 as recommended in the reviews and it is a good fit. I asked for the difference in price between the £85 I paid for it and the £70 it was further reduced to 24 hours later and days before they even dispatched it and they refunded the difference straight away so all good.

The pintuck chambray dress in a 10 is going back. It is beautifully made but just too voluminous and boxy for me, adding the illusion of weight. I had tried it on in store several seasons ago but its just not a good fit for me.

While chatting to customer services about the twill dress, I asked if they had the chunky cotton knit in turquoise: i have the nasturtium one and absolutely love the fit and colour, plus the quality, but it had sold out in medium in the sale. Customer services advised they now had 4 mediums in stock (shows how many returns they get) and so one is winging its way to me.

Stoic123 · 23/07/2024 21:36

@ToastCosILoveIt - ooh, lucky with the knit. Good customer service.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/07/2024 22:25

I don’t seem to have been quite as frugal in the sale as everyone else, my final tally is:
Mia Pyjamas in sand
Cotton Utility Jacket
Lapis striped Tee
Olive Leaf Tee
Olive Oil Linen Trousers
2 pairs of Socks.

I tried the Olive V-neck Cinkle Dress twice as it was the first thing I ordered and I couldn’t remember why I sent it back, so I reordered when it was reduced further. It was too close fitting to get a tee underneath, also I found the armholes were cut quite high and rubbed.

I also bought the full price Decho cap, and now I’ve got 'free' money from the returns (thanks @hicat 😁) I think I’ll try the Cobalt Crinkle Dress .

ScottishMouse · 24/07/2024 08:00

Ah I didn’t see this on the label @oddandelsewhere. I had assumed that ironing would remove the crinkles though?

Poplinskirt · 24/07/2024 21:02

I ordered the blue crinkle shirt in a small and some socks .
Kindred gift on the way 😊

Stoic123 · 24/07/2024 22:06

@Poplinskirt - very exciting!

Do come back and report on the gift.
