As the title says. Give or take 10% either way. Looking for a really nice new luxury bag and in need of suggestions.

What size/shape is important to you?

Stormbornform · 18/03/2024 20:56

£500 bag £1k holiday!

Riverlee · 18/03/2024 20:57

But a nice bag from M and S and keep the rest!

ILoveSalmonSpread · 18/03/2024 21:06

I'd go for a £50 bag and an amazing holiday.

No one cares what bag you've got and if I see LV bags ( or whatever designer bag ) I'd immediately think 'fake.'

whitenoisemachine · 18/03/2024 21:34

Good question @BritneyBookClubPresident ! On the smaller side. Possibly cross body.

@Optimistic66 those are beautiful!

It's gone up in price though ... I'm sure I "only" paid about £1300 a year or so ago.

Imbackfor1timeonly · 18/03/2024 22:18

Would go for a nice £100 bag and take it on holiday 😆

BioHive · 18/03/2024 22:20

not sure the brand but a fancy business / air pilot type business trolley on wheels

MavisTheMonkey · 19/03/2024 00:06

I think that £1500 is a weird price point in the luxury bag market.
As insane as it is most high end brands eg Loewe, Bottega, Celine, Chanel, LV etc start at £2000 so £1500 will at best get a either a tiny nano sized bag or something that is basically overpriced for a small canvas / fabric bag.
Outside of the high end brands there is currently a big market for affordable luxury with brands making good quality bags in the £400-£600 range- such as Polene, Strathberry, De Millier, and personally I would look at these.

However two brands that could work are YSL and Ferragamo, and if I were to stick to the "rules" of your question would go for one of these:

Same here.

SmallIslander · 19/03/2024 00:11

I'd get one of those massive blue bags from IKEA for 75p and spend the rest filling it with wine.

Starseeking · 19/03/2024 00:11

I'd probably get a Mulberry, or if I was feeling a bit fancy, a YSL.

Sweetheart7 · 19/03/2024 00:16

YSL

I'd get one of those massive blue bags from IKEA for 75p and spend the rest filling it with wine.

An even better idea. 🍷

RogueFemale · 19/03/2024 00:24

If I were forced (and I'd have to be forced) to spend this much on a bag, I'd buy a second-hand Loewe on ebay or Vinted. Bags are a bit like cars and depreciate rapidly from new. There's no point buying new when slightly used is so much cheaper.

MaybeRevisitYourWipingT3chnique · 19/03/2024 01:55

Each very much to their own, but I'm so glad I'm clearly not the only one who would opt for a bin bag with £1,499.90 in cold, hard cash inside Grin

Pinkmushrooms · 19/03/2024 02:02

I would buy sezane or Leo et Violette and save the rest of the cash for holidays. ( or beauty treatments!)

Ruthietuthie · 19/03/2024 02:49

I still want a Loewe Gate bag (is that the name?) in the smallest size. That would be within budget, I think, and a nice practical cross-body bag for summer. I'd get it in the tan color.

zinky · 19/03/2024 03:03

Have you checked Vestiaire collective ?

Netaporter · 19/03/2024 04:23

For your budget I’d recommend a Gucci Marmont. The ‘small’ is surprisingly spacious. Different styles and colours to choose from but I’d say the black or cream are pretty timeless. Gucci has excellent customer service from their stores in comparison to other brands so if you’d like to feel a sense of occasion when spending this sum of money, I’d highly recommend The Sloane street branch in particular. Remember, if you are going abroad from a major airport such as Heathrow you can order in the one you fancy into an airside branch and save the VAT. You don’t have to take it with you, you can collect on your return.

I wear cross body bags!

Just browsing through Harrods (as a pipedream) and I quite like this one as ir has lots of compartments https://www.harrods.com/en-gb/shopping/christian-louboutin-zip-n-flap-cross-body-bag-22171048

However I shall be perfectly happy to keep my £26 bag from Next and take my family on holiday.

Devonbabs · 19/03/2024 05:05

I’d buy a £40-£100 bag and give some of the rest of the money to charity,
