As the title says. Give or take 10% either way. Looking for a really nice new luxury bag and in need of suggestions.

Toteme t lock. Just bought one and think I might get the other size too

I like this bag! And keep checking it out. At the moment successfully resisting. Pls post a picture of yours if possible.

A preloved LV Anya or Speedy

ShirleyPhallus · 19/03/2024 14:36

Designer bag threads always bring out the green eyed monster

Why on earth would you spend the money on a week away somewhere when you could have a possession that lasts forever?!

weaselwords · 19/03/2024 14:39

It may be worth looking on Brand Alley, as they have some discounted Gucci bags on there and vintage Chanel. You may bag (!) a bargain.

Thedogsdindins · 19/03/2024 14:29

Who needs a bag worth that much money? Surely you could get a £30 bag that would do just a good a job of holding stuff.

I'm guessing that the retailer of such an expensive bag is laughing all the way to the bank!

Oh lord, do get a grip. People have different budgets. Some people care about top quality.

Nw22 · 19/03/2024 14:50

@Ireolu I will try and post a photo later. I resisted getting it for ages but I’m so glad I did. Amazing price compared to other bags.

Deargodletitgo · 19/03/2024 14:53

I'm a bag hoe, love variety so tend to cycle through lots, so I'd actually buy a good wallet and then a holiday. Although my Moroccan LV leather wallet is doing brilliantly for £10 ,

I recently spent 4K on a pony, who comes with ongoing maintenance costs. If only I had spent £1500 on a bag that wouldn't cost me even more every year, I would be the richer for it. But that's what makes me happy. I also donate to charity and pay a pretty decent sum in tax every year. But I have this funny notion that the money I work for should also make me happy.

I have no advice to give you OP, because my pony addiction makes me impoverished in all other areas, but some of these bags are just gorgeous, so enjoy! I would be a total fashionista if I wasn't covered in mud all day long!

I would absolutely love a pony 😍😍 I'd forgo handbags if I could get one

@EmpressOfTheThread It is interesting that it's more on handbag threads than other elaborate purchases.

There's nothing wrong with what OP is asking, but I just think that these kinds of comments are to be expected if you post it on a site like mumsnet.

I think it is because many women view handbags as a practical item rather than a fashion accessory, and are quite baffled at the idea of paying 10 x the price of something that does the job equally well.

And we could all wear similar utilitarian clothes that cover us up and keep us warm and cost hardly nothing, but we don’t. The clothes industry and retail market are both thriving. Newsflash: some people like handbags and can afford to buy expensive ones.

Trust me, after the wettest winter for 30 years, I wish I had bought a bloody handbag! Freezing cold tempests every day and a bewildered little mare desperately trying to fit in, while not knowing who to trust, has made for a long, long winter! Getting a pony for Christmas is not all it is cracked up to be, MUCH easier to get them settled and try to build a relationship in good weather.

Oh bore off.

😂

iloveshetlandponies · 19/03/2024 15:21

@krustykittens

Aww I bet 🥺🥺 I hope your sweet boy settles fully soon ...it will help that better weather is hopefully coming 🐴

Jennywren2000 · 19/03/2024 15:25

Surely to those confused about it, it’s just the same as buying an expensive car: an unfashionable, cheap car would get you from A to B in just the same way but some people buy more shiny, expensive ones.

It’s just choices. I haven’t ever tried particularly wanted a designer handbag, but I still understand why some people like them.

Some people spend lots on special plants for their gardens, special food etc.

If I was going to get a very expensive bag it would be one from The Row. But they are more than the 1.5k and mostly sold out.

20p carrier bag and holiday for the rest

She's got a holiday booked. She wants a handbag as well..
A 20p carrier bag is hardly practical as a handbag.

whatdidshedotogetahillnamedafterher · 19/03/2024 15:41

just been looking on secret sales and seen a nice stella mccartney bag ..second hand but would be new to me!

£500 bag £1k holiday!

Haha you beat me to it - except I was limiting my self to £100 on the bag (a travel bag)! 😄

marshmallowfinder · 19/03/2024 15:46

A Kipling bag and lots left over for some new clothes and savings.

She doesn't want a Kipling bag and money left over! She wants a £1500 handbag

Mitsky · 19/03/2024 16:03

I love the Acne one that was posted earlier.

Ive just got my hands on a Loewe puzzle bag and I love it!

OP might be planning a £1,500 bag and a £25k holiday.

These threads are always ridiculous for the same crap about spending it on a holiday instead (which is over in a week or 2 anyway, with nothing permanent to show for it) or charity virtue signalling.

Back on bags, Loewe mini puzzle is a bit predictable but I absolutely love them. I'd probably go for one of those - in fact I just may do!

ClonedSquare · 19/03/2024 16:30

I can't think of a single thing I own where there wouldn't be a cheaper version that would fulfil its purpose just as well as the nicer versions. Can someone let me know exactly what I am allowed to spend more than the bare minimum on? 🙄

Patrickiscrazy · 19/03/2024 16:37

Sorry not enough 😂

FluffyFanny · 19/03/2024 16:37

If OP can afford a £1500 handbag she can probably afford the holiday as well!

I'd go for a Loewe puzzle bag, a Gucci or YSL quilted camera bag, or a Givenchy Antigona bag

Nw22 · 19/03/2024 16:40

The puzzle bag is the bag I use the most. It’s so practical but I wouldn’t buy one of the new style ones
