Like them but just worried they are a bit "mum boot". Anyone seen anything similar cheaper?

I wouldn't say they are mumsy but I don't like them

nzeire · 17/12/2023 01:44

Momboot and ugly :)

LuckySantangelo35 · 17/12/2023 01:55

They are not nice

Naughty1205 · 17/12/2023 02:42

How on earth are they 'mum boots'? They are too dressy. I like them though.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 17/12/2023 02:43

I don't like them but tbh I don't like about 99% of the footwear which does get raved about on here so from that point of view they're no worse than many shoes/ boots linked to. If anything they're just a bit bland.

There's a few similar styles on that "personal stylist" thread. Whether such a recommendation makes them better or worse I don't know. I have been dipping in and out of that thread and haven't seen anything on it I would wear.

I'm not entirely sure what "mumsy" means but if anything those boots are not "mumsy" compared to , well, lots of things recommended on S&B.

Workway · 17/12/2023 02:50

Depends how you wear them. With jeans - 100% Mum boot. But with a mid-length dress - probably quite chic.

I caveat this with I have no fashion sense at all but if I saw someone wearing these boots with a nice dress I'd think they look elegant. With jeans or any trousers really - definitely Mum boots.

I like them better on a second look.

I thought "mum boots" had low block heels?

Exactly!

They’re not that exciting. Would wear them under office suit trousers.

herewegoroundtheblueberrybush · 17/12/2023 03:10

What they are is fashionable. I don't like this style because I remember it from the first time round!

Aroundthewaygirl · 17/12/2023 03:12

Who cares? If you like them get them. But I don’t dress to fit current trends or styles, I just wear what I like.

nongnangning · 17/12/2023 06:48

These boots are great and I might buy them! Smart work boots! Thanks OP.

FloofCloud · 17/12/2023 07:01

That heel looks like it would snap easily.

That's what I thought, too. With bootcut jeans: probably a mum boot. With a satin midi skirt: quite cool atm.

Pruneaux · 17/12/2023 07:11

Not mumboot - i love and just bought some - thanks OP

ActDottie · 17/12/2023 07:15

Not mumsy at all. But I don’t like them

Prettyinred · 17/12/2023 08:18

Genuine question what is so offensive about these boots that everyone hates?
to me they’re literally normal ankle boots and totally inoffensive
just curious!

GuitarGeorgina · 17/12/2023 08:22

I don’t think they’re mumsy at all. They look great and I wish I could wear things like that (but have bunions so can’t).

TheGhostOfTheOpera · 17/12/2023 08:26

You like them? Buy them!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/12/2023 08:54

I really, really hate the word, ‘Mumsy’ and the phrase, ‘ Mum boot’ is just ridiculous.

don’t like the heel on those, but I’m seeing a lot of that style in advertising pics recently, so it looks like they’re having a moment. Personally I’d prefer a less spindly heel.

Purplecatshopaholic · 17/12/2023 08:59

Quite classic rather than mumsy. Not edgy. So would go pretty well with most things while not setting the fashion heather on fire.

CommonOrNot · 17/12/2023 09:00

Gowlett · 17/12/2023 03:03

They’re not that exciting. Would wear them under office suit trousers.

Which would make them mum boots

SnapdragonToadflax · 17/12/2023 09:00

I would have thought they're too high and pointy to be mum boots? They look old fashioned to me, but presumably that's because they're similar to what was fashionable in my early 20s and are now back in fashion 20 years later.

I don't like the square toe, the heel is too spindly for my liking and they look quite hard and unforgiving. Definitely 'under office trousers' boots in 2004.

Watchthedoormat · 17/12/2023 09:02

I like them and do not think they are mumsy.
