Like them but just worried they are a bit "mum boot". Anyone seen anything similar cheaper?

I was expecting chunky flats.
What's mumsy or dated? I see these thrown around and never really get what people mean.
Fashion is so diverse now that I see women in their 50s wearing similar clothes to 20 year olds.

I have no idea what a 'mom boot' is but they are ugly.

Like something a shit female villain would wear in a kids film.

Yep, those are totally Cruella De Vil boots!

Not a look I would go for, but I can see somebody else pulling it off.

Limeandsodaontherocks · 25/12/2023 00:58

Are Chelsea boots “mumsy”?

Motherof2nannyof4 · 25/12/2023 04:22

Nope go for them

fancyfrogs · 25/12/2023 04:28

Don't think they're mumsy but I don't like them. I feel like the wicked witch of the west would wear them

Silverfoxette · 25/12/2023 13:14

@NekonoTe They have all quit, one went out on ‘stress’ leave’. I’m still there, funny how that worked out since I’m so old and past it! 😂

CheekyLittleElf · 25/12/2023 20:27

They're a bit 1998

Rosaofthevalley · 26/12/2023 22:48

Yup the type my mother and sister in law would wear 😬

Squirrelsnut · 30/12/2023 09:58

Why is mumsy a bad thing?

Coffeebutter · 30/12/2023 20:13

What the hell is a mum boot ?!
it’s very simple : if you like them buy them if not , dont !
don’t worry about anytning else …life really is too short

Igletpiglet · 30/12/2023 23:32

What @Workway Said x

LonelynSad · 31/12/2023 02:17

Mumsy?! I’ve never seen any mums wearing Cruella de ville boots?

Omg I said Cruella De Ville as well! 😆

Soldaret · 31/12/2023 07:06

They're lovely, very on trend, look like the toteme ones. Might buy them myself

I wouldn't say 'mumsy' but if you are a mum, why does that matter?

I would say my flat combat style boots are more mumsy as I wear them specifically for comfort and so I can run about after the kids in them. I don't really care if others think they're 'mumsy' because, well..I am a mum!

I would however say they are very old fashioned/dated and everyone I know who wears these type of boots is 45+, quite posh (or thinks they are!) and quite frankly a bit of a grump!

I don't like them as they remind of a fair few people I don't like very much. But if you like them and will get good wear out of them, get them! Who cares what MN's or indeed anyone thinks!

Boobylicoous · 31/12/2023 09:22

I always wear what I want. Don't be a slave to fashion. Do your own style

Ladymeade · 31/12/2023 09:52

I have an identical pair (different brand) & I love them. I wear them with dresses and opaque tights or skinny jeans. Enough heel to give a nice leg line but without being too high to walk in/be uncomfortable.

Not sure if that will reassure OP though, Totême is really popular with mums in my experience 😁The stripy sweater, and a lot of outerwear (quilted coat, scarf coat, shearling jacket, jacket with edge stitching) are all safe bets for school gate bingo!

Ugly, not mumsie, more gransie to Me

policefoxlyn · 31/12/2023 12:26

I'm 54, interested in style and fashion and I think I'm considered to be stylish and fashionable though not high fashion.
I like the first boots and have similar, would totally wear with leather jeans, cropped wide legged jeans or cropped flares, black slim 7/8 trousers (black polo neck, leopard belt- one of my favourite looks) also leather mini or midi. I've also got size 41, narrow feet and have no issue with my feet looking big!

However, I guess if you got them you'd always have "mumsy" in the back of your mind.

I didn't look at the other styles you've asked about. My advice would be to look on Pinterest for ideas on styles and styling. Likewise, if you find boots you like, search on Pinterest for them for styling tips.
Good luck x

No particular disrespect intended to you in particular but I'm always a bit puzzled by posts like yours or posts telling us "my teen would/ wouldn't" wear that.

What is their purpose? Is the implication that you at 36 are more stylish than a woman in her late 50s ? or have your finger on the pulse and they don't?
