Like them but just worried they are a bit "mum boot". Anyone seen anything similar cheaper?

@clowniform ha yes if you live in North London it probably is the uniform. Not if you're on the mean streets of rural Wales. Noone is wearing that.
To be fair I am a mum and a fashion designer and i do love Toteme, the scarf coat and stripey sweater I'd wear it all if I could afford it.

quite a dated design?

  1. Speaking as a man:
  2. I am not sure what 'mumsy' is in this context, but if its synonymous with 'frumpy' then no, they are not; and
  3. Pretty much all women's boots / women in boots look attractive and/or 'hot' (but see 1 above).

Behold! A man has spoken!

I quite like your Massimo boots OP. But I am a Massimo fan. I like the Cos ones too but they’re just not me.

This thread however, I do not like. It’s ageist and very misogynistic and makes me sad that we devalue both age (and all its wisdom and experience) and motherhood, and place such high value on youth - younger knows better than older. So old fashioned. I thought we had moved on a bit in the world.

I'm not quite sure why the opinion.of manoffthelead should be worth less than the other opinions on here.

If anything I'd be inclined to give it more worth than the ridiculously ageist and misogynistic comments; not because he is a man but he made the point that "mumsy" is meaningless.

Agreed. Actually it was really refreshing to read and highlights how much we overthink wearing what is just a regular, innocuous pair of boots.
What is fascinating about this thread is the amount of people that think that just because something was worn when they were younger that whoever wears something similar now must be hideously out of fashion. I thought it was universally known that fashion goes in cycles. There are things I wore in the 90s and 00s that have had several incarnations by now.

Mamakaterina · 03/01/2024 20:39

I used to have some very similar about 20 years ago, I can't wear heels at all now due to a toe injury. They would look ok with trousers but I don't like it when ppl wear ankle boots with skirts or skinny jeans / leggings I think that look is ridiculous. That's probably cos I'm still stuck in the late 90's - early 00's

Platypuslover · 03/01/2024 20:42

I’d call those a bit Cruella 90s chic

Snorkmaidenn · 04/01/2024 01:38

Massimo Dutti are Def not mumsey or frumpy. Lovely boots!
