Has anyone else been in recently? I was in today and it was just fabulous - so many nice pieces - and not just the sienna Millar campaign stuff

Weird that you know so much about where your friends buy their clothes

Even weirder to know anybody who is prepared to defecate in their own hands.

I rather like that velvet jacket. Won't it just pick up every bit of white fluff there is though? I can just imagine having yo brush it before every outing! Plus, as a shortie, I expect it will be too long in the body and sleeves!

I rather like this but hard to tell if it'll be too boxy and overwhelm my frame. It's a bit different for me but I like it.

Ps, what do you think to these loafers? I've posted on another thread but while I'm here...I like the detail but slightly unsure if the gathering is a bit off.

Hi, never had a problem with velvet picking up fluff, as velvet with a high amount of cotton (such as the M&S jacket, my Boden oldies) is not static like the high synthetic velvet. I'm boxy and the jacket (arrived Friday) actually gives me shape and finishes at lower hip level (I'm 5'6"), so might be a bit long, although depends on body length and everything is too long in the sleeves for me, so all gets tucked / turned up!

toucaninjapan · 11/09/2023 11:11

Can anyone please tell me what's the difference between M&S and Next? Are they similar in terms of quality?

Polis · 11/09/2023 11:13

They are certainly similar in terms of small size labels in big clothes.

Deathraystare · 11/09/2023 13:39

@GasDrivenNun ·

Saw the Sienna Miller ad today and the last thing I want to see on tv in 30 degree heat is wool coats and thick jumpers.

God yes! This! I hate going in shops at the moment and all the Autumn/Winter stuff is in. Phew!

Even Sienna can’t make that putrid yellow outfit look nice.

And the poses! So odd. In the advert she just comes across as a weirdo. M&S trying to be cool but making a 40-year-old woman look like a doofus…

OMG that outfit is utterly minging! And Sienna looks daft! 😂

Justkoko · 12/09/2023 18:37

So the oatmeal jacket and loafers arrived. Oatmeal jacket - wouldn't have looked twice in the shop, it's expensive for what feels like loosely bound acrylic. Maybe look fab on someone else but not for me.
Loafers that Sienna has on some of the pictures, rather like! Very smart, got insolia so hopefully comfortable and I'd hope look good for some time. Was comparing against some barbour and although I don't know what the difference in longevity is, the marks ones are less than half the price!

Justkoko · 12/09/2023 18:40

These marks ones vs the barbour. Or £55 vs £120?

Those boots are fucking horrible. I hate wedge boots and they’re a particularly bad example.

PuppyMcPupFace · 12/09/2023 19:05

@toucaninjapan I'd say Marks is superior. Good merino and cashmere.

peachgreen · 13/09/2023 16:52

Okay I take it all back. My M&S haul arrived and while I do love most of it, it is ALL from an outlet rather than M&S…! Turns out White Stuff have some nice pieces for autumn, not M&S.

Pigtailsandall · 13/09/2023 21:56

So has the quality improved in the last few years? I bought a few things back in 2021 but they were all terrible quality - a hoody for my husband which shrank considerably after one 40-degree wash (like it was so short after it went to his belly button) and jeans for me that lasted exactly 8 months before getting horrendous pulls in the fabric and terrible stretching in the fibres. I swore I wouldn't shop there after. Last year I saw a nice Sezane knit dupe but was too nervous to buy it after the terrible quality fails.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/09/2023 07:15

I don’t think quality has improved, although I still rate their jeans and their single pair knickers. Socks and T-shirts very poor. The last work trousers I bought bobbled very quickly.

Justkoko · 18/09/2023 13:32

Anyone any recent experience of marks shoes re quality and comfort? Still wondering about the Sienna loafers posted up thread.

ThePoshUns · 19/09/2023 21:21

I find their shoes comfortable, I have a pair of chunky loafers from last year that I wore a lot. Just ordered some boots today.
Visited my local store, have to say a lot of the clothes from the ad don't look so good in real life

CyanCrystalViolet · 20/09/2023 22:37

I bought a pair of their boots a few weeks ago and they’re very comfortable.
