Evening Royal style and beauty fans.
Into the Carolean era, with more bling we hope! Also more state banquets?

Ooh! I could do with a dress just like Camilla's for lolling about in, I've already got a shopping bag exactly that bright red too!

MotherofPearl · 08/10/2022 16:09

Good ID there Killing.

It's the velour that's the problem for me. I love velvet, but I associate velour with leisurewear (remembering those Juicy Couture tracksuits...).

Maireas · 08/10/2022 16:10

Oh dear lord. Juicy Couture 🙄.
Remember those joggers with crystal embellishments on the arse?

Eaumyword · 08/10/2022 16:15

Trying not to @Maireas, usually accompanied by a visible thong 🤦‍♀️ I never partook, not having an arse worth showing in public...
My mum would call what Cam's is wearing 'a housecoat'. Although, I appreciate those were more Shirley Valentine style polyester dressing gowns over day clothes.

NiqueNique · 08/10/2022 16:16

I like the dress a lot! For lounging around at home, or having very good friends over for a very relaxed house party.

But this is all wrong - she really looks like she’d finished getting ready for evening/bed and then remembered she had somewhere to be! Obviously the fault of that drawstring waist and the pockets. The bag doesn’t go with it at all - it’s completely the wrong red to go with that blue in that fabric so that’s a no from me too. The wedge shoes/boots (can’t remember which) don’t look good with it either in my book. I quite like all the elements on their own. But not together. And certainly not for an engagement outwith one’s own home!

You have to keep everything just right if you’re going to do this look well.

Velvet, yes definitely! Dressing gown/house coat, no...

Maireas · 08/10/2022 16:18

Yes, it does look like a housecoat.
Well, she's Queen now.
Boundaries have been redrawn.

It needed to be more structured - a proper waist of some kind, or a belt (not a tie belt!), and her shoes needed to be flat, and a much sharper design.

NiqueNique · 08/10/2022 16:21

I’m Queen (Consort) and if I want to go out in my housecoat I will! Grin Grin

Eaumyword · 08/10/2022 16:32

I mean, diamonds that large go with everything, don't they!😂

GrouchyKiwi · 08/10/2022 16:32

We've been building furniture today, so I'm very taken with Camilla's dressing gown and would rather like to put it on to watch Strictly.

Spudlet · 08/10/2022 16:53

Yeah, I’m all for comfy but the drawstring is a bit much…!

Agree the dress is too dressing gown adjacent.

Perfect description, especially with the bag. I have a red make-up bag that is very similar. I hate to say it, but she looks as though she is a guest in someone's house, headed to the bathroom to get ready for her day. 😃

Yep she looks like she is on her getting ready phase and has forgotten to change into her dress beforehand going out.

I had the same thought. 😀

My grandmother (Southern US) would also have called this a housecoat.

Most Americans now have only one word for this type of clothing: "bathrobe", which makes it even less appealing, although the expression "lounge robe or lounge dress" has entered the lexicon post-covid.

My mother in law wears this style round her house. I had to double take when I saw Queen Camilla wearing it, as I’d last seen that number hanging behind my MIL’s bathroom door!

lol !
Oh dear really don’t like this on Camilla, she usually looks lovely. I agree it’s a lounging “dress” also it looks too casual next to Charles in his kilt.

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 08/10/2022 18:04

This one was much nicer and just as comfy I’m sure

NiqueNique · 08/10/2022 18:10

Yes that one’s much better!

meateatingveggie · 08/10/2022 18:14

I was just wondering if the navy one would look better had she blinged it up a bit, like she did with the green one and emeralds. While I'm always happy to see some sparkle, I'm not sure if it would have looked really out of place

I do like Camilla though, and I'm sure she doesn't give a monkey's.

KillingMeDeftly · 08/10/2022 18:25

Those emeralds!!!Shock

I think the problem with the navy one is the drawstring, and the overall casual cut, I don’t think that would be flattering on anyone it’s more comfort clothing as others have said. The green one whilst not fitted gives a more streamlined silhouette I think. I think the blue velvet dress is the first time I’ve seen Camilla wear anything that didn’t look good.

KillingMeDeftly · 08/10/2022 21:07

She's not technically royal but I quite like the sweater Carole is wearing here. I wouldn't be surprised if Kate borrows it for her next visit to the Scouts!

Who is this lady ? As @meateatingveggie said she’s not unlike Kate

meateatingveggie · 08/10/2022 21:22

Carole Middleton is Kate's mother

justasking111 · 08/10/2022 21:32

Queen's dress is very M&S. I bought lounge pants there in the sale haven't worn them yet must dig them and some bling out 🤣🤣
