As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

I'm in!

Loosely planning this anyway.

So far thinking;

Cut out refined carbs and sugar (most of the time)
Dry January
Eyelashes and gel nails done every month or so
Spend a bit more time on my makeup of a morning
Possibly fake tan
Do more exercise

WlderRosie · 25/12/2021 20:32

Midgetwithaplan · 25/12/2021 20:40

I'm in, really want 2022 to be the year I look after myself. I have hundreds of pounds of lotions and potions to use, a gym membership to help me look and feel better about myself and holidays later in the year that are my target. Now all I need is some advice about what my priorities should be with only about 20 minutes a day spare!

SparkleWhale · 25/12/2021 20:43

I'm in!

MichelleScarn · 25/12/2021 20:45

I'm in! Bought some Lacura face mask and serum yesterday in my attempt to start something positive. I've put on 2st in the last 2 years!

Bessica1970 · 25/12/2021 20:52

I’m in too. Had permanent eyeliner applied last week and I love it. I’ve booked to have my eyebrows permanently done in Feb ( it’s expensive so I can only stretch to treatments every other month).
Defo need to lose weight though - that always makes the biggest difference to my face shape!

TomHarksPiranhas · 25/12/2021 20:53

I’m in, since Covid I’ve out on so much weight, barely wear any make up anymore and can’t remember the last time I painted my nails!!

I received lots of lovely products today so it’s a start.

Chocolatetrifle · 25/12/2021 20:54

Sounds good, I'm in.. I need to lose some weight, have two little ones and hardly any time to myself but really want to be more self-focused, but not in a selfish way if you know what I mean.

Need to follow the low sugar, reduced carb diet and look after my mental well being.

CommanderBurnham · 25/12/2021 20:59

I'm in,

Eat less exercise more. That's it. Everything else is sorted, wardrobe, skin, hair is where I finally want it. I'm 2stone overweight and unhealthy. Going to entirely focus on health and fitness. I'm peri menopausal and need to make changes.

Good luck all!

Coronado2 · 25/12/2021 21:02

I'm definitely in. I also need to lose weight and get back to exercing a bit more. I need to sort out the dry skin around my nails and put a bit more effort into my skin and hair too.

Pegasussnail · 25/12/2021 21:06

I'm in .

I have my eyebrows and lips done with semi permanent make up and it's made a big difference. Need to cut out crap food. Start jogging. Buy better quality clothes. Use my lumea (saved hard for it)

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 25/12/2021 21:09

Excellent ladies, some really good ideas, I will need to get my brows, lashes and nails done regularly too I think. Lets keep this thread going and not make it a January only thing

anunseemlylovefordustin · 25/12/2021 21:36

I'm in. I'm going to focus just on health and fitness, perimenopause and lockdown has done a number on me and I have almost zero time (single parent to a 4 year old) but I have to carve some out to start to get fitter and healthier again. Otherwise I feel like the decline will keep on going!

Jessie75 · 25/12/2021 21:56

Do we have a to do list ;
Im thinking an extra glass of water each day, currently zero so upping it to 1, 2, 3 and eventually 8 should be doable.
Moisturiser every day
Hand cream after washing up each time
Lippy when leaving the house from now onwards

didireallysaythat · 25/12/2021 22:01

I'm in.

I've started trying to get into a routine for skin care in the last few weeks (hoping the stupidly expensive eye cream I've seen is in the sales), I'm trying to use up body lotions that I've had for too long by actually USING them. I've picked up my AD prescription (but holding off starting as I want to stop alcohol as well) and I've got a 21 clean eating course scheduled for January.

I'm thinking I might try and find somewhere to do my nails end of January as a treat. I need something to look forward to.

Hippywannabe · 25/12/2021 22:01

I am in! I have recently lost 61 1/2 lbs so am on the way to my new body but need to get the rest of me to catch up while I lose the last 40lbs.
I need to commit to a good mKe up routine and some exercise.

applesandpears33 · 25/12/2021 22:02

I'm in. Have put on about 5 stones in weight over 18 years and would like to lose it. I'm not great with the self care, but am better than I have been in previous years. I manage to moisturise and use handcream each day and always put on lip gloss or balm before leaving the house. My hair and clothes are a mess though.

Sportycustard · 25/12/2021 22:07

Signing up! Need to lose weight and shape up to boost my confidence as I intend to start applying for major promotion roles this year. Kids are 20 and 16 and don't need me as much and I have 15 years to go before retirement and I intend to thoroughly enjoy myself

Lovelydovey · 25/12/2021 22:07

I’m in. I need to lose 3-4 stone and get my glow on. I’ll write a list of things I want to do daily and weekly…

anotherneutralname · 25/12/2021 22:10

I'm in! I can sort out the food / exercise stuff (boring but do-able) but I really need advice and a kick in the backside to present myself much much better and to take a bit of pride in myself.

I've ordered some new clothes, because I don't want to carry on wearing worn out baggy stuff like I'm not worth anything because I've gained weight. Head up, chin up.

Now I'm going to watch this thread for tips Smile

LynetteScavo · 25/12/2021 22:11

Marking my place...more water, less alcohol for a start!

msc6199 · 25/12/2021 22:13

I'm in! Thanks for starting this thread, OP. We've got this 💪🏻💞

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 25/12/2021 22:15

I don't really have a list, or at least I'm adding to it as I get ideas from here!

So far:

Drink more water
Eat less chocolate and take aways
Walk more
Do my online exercise class
Do slimming world online
wash hair more regularly (used to be every second day but its slipped a bit Blush )
Splurge on posh bath stuff
Get nails done more regularly and eyebrows too
Use semi permanent lipstick that DD bought me (hope looks okay!)
Get a hair cut and style
Straighten hair
Spend more time on makeup
Spend more time on housework and make house nice

I'm in.

I'm moderately optimistic that my migraines are now rather more under control than they have been for many years, so I'm hoping to be able to increase the amount of exercise I do - once I have fully got over covid, I'm only out of isolation a couple of days ago. Still feeling a bit drained & have a tiny bit of a cough.

I'm going to start drinking more water. I have a good, double walled metal water bottle by the bed, but I seldom drink anything during the night. Am going to start.

I'm going to start going to bed earlier. At least a few nights every week. I definitely don't get enough sleep.

My diet is generally good, I eat a lot of vegetables (I'm fortunate that I genuinely like them, & don't have much of a sweet tooth except sometimes for nice chocolate) but my real weakness is salty carbs when I don't feel well. Need to be more organised, but I can't meal prep, rely on leftovers or batch cooking though as it's bad for my migraines. Unless I can freeze it, which is tricky with a small freezer.

I lost around 2 st this year, with negligible exercise. Hoping to lose another 1-2 next year. I'll be at my goal weight (pre-pregnancy weight) if I can.

Gigia · 25/12/2021 22:46

I'm in. I'm aiming to get back where I was in April 2021so I need to lose 5kg. Planning on more steps, more exercise, more water, more sleep.
