I thought I’d post on here as it might be of some help to anyone considering the same. I have tried literally everything. Profilo, thread lifts, expensive creams such as strivectin and I was even booked in for Morpheus8 and facetite ( for the neck ) but I cancelled as it was 3k and I didn’t want to waste anymore money and only get a 25 - 30% improvement.

I do actually think that the above would and does work if you have fairly low key laxity but mine came from a 6 stone 3lb weight loss in my mid 40’s and, by 49 my neck was quite bad.

I’ve dabbled in Botox and fillers since I was about 42 and loved the effect they gave me. I wanted to feel more refreshed and look less knackered.

Anyway I found a surgeon who specialised in face and neck lifts ( as well as tummy tucks and breast augmentation ) but the face and neck lifts are usually done by him under a local anaesthetic - I absolutely didn’t want to go under. He does them under a local so as to minimise recovery times and not have to use bandages and drains ect.

Anyway I had the consultation a few months ago and it was booked for the 22nd of September ( he is booked up well in advance ) plus this gave me the chance to save further.

I had the surgery two days ago and within half an hour of it being over I was back in the car and on my way home ( I live 3 hours away from where I had it done ) it was more expensive than having it done locally but I would have had to have gone under and I wanted to avoid that.

He does at least 10 face and neck lifts per week ( I was one of three that day ) and I researched his work throughly. He is one of the top surgeons in this field so I was happy to go with him due to his experience.

Ive put a photo of me taken in the morning in the hotel before I left for the clinic and one half an hour afterward in the car on the way home.

To say after losing all that weight that I was left with no definable chin or jawline that I was upset would be minimising it, I had tried everything before this and used to avoid photos even my DD's wedding in June. I won’t lie I’m bloody over the moon with the results ( so far so good )

My lower face in the after pics is quite swollen still and it’s painful But the painkillers are doing the job though and I’m excited to be 1/2/3/4 weeks post procedure to see the results properly.

Scars will be along the hairline, there is some puckering in the upper incisions ( all completely normal ) but my profile is transformed. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy and I properly 💩 myself when I went into the theatre 😬 but I’m so glad I’ve done it!

I would say if you are very unhappy with your neck or jowls this is a great procedure, I believe that Morpheus8 and facetite can also give very good results too if yours isn’t as bad as mine was, you can pay a lot less than I did if you are happy to go under too.

I shall upload some more photos each week for progression and for anyone that’s considering this to see. I could do with a tummy tuck Ect but I’m not bothered about that as it’s my face that people see, I use Spanx and wonder bras and that works for me 🙂

I see lots of threads on what to do with a saggy neck or jowls, I’m not saying this is what anyone should do in fact I’d advocate trying everything else first, threads can be effective as can Morpheus8 and facetite they just didn’t give me the results I wanted.

I just wanted to post this as I saved for a long time and it wasn’t a quick decision but if you’ve tried everything and it makes you as sad as it made me then I’d say it’s well worth saving for if you can?

Wow OP, that's a massive difference between pics 👏🏼

Girlintheframe · 24/09/2021 10:23

Wow the change is huge!!

Would be really interested to see further post op pics.

cosmopolitanplease · 24/09/2021 10:26

Wow that's an amazing result! Well done on your weight loss x

schmalex · 24/09/2021 10:26

Looking good OP! I will be getting this when I need it.
I had an abdominoplasty and BA in the summer after trying everything exercise-wise to sort out my tummy muscles. Sometimes surgery is the only way. I am so happy with what I had done and so should you be!

Claudethecat · 24/09/2021 10:27

Well done on the weight loss OP. The results of your OP look very good. I hope it doesn't hurt too much.

ToadstoolBubbleMaker · 24/09/2021 10:28

It looks good (other than the puckered scar bit Shock which should hopefully resolve?)

I'm not a huge advocate of plastic surgery generally as I worry about young people getting unnecessarily and regretting it etc but I do think that looks great and your post is really informative.

Hope the recovery goes well.

MayEye · 24/09/2021 10:28

Wow the results are amazing! You look great

BetterthanIthink · 24/09/2021 10:28

Wow , great results already !! How much did it cost ? Who did you use ?

sqirrelfriends · 24/09/2021 10:32

What a difference, you look amazing.

artquejtion · 24/09/2021 10:32

Wow, you look great already !

I can't imagine doing it under local anaesthetic only though, how long did it take? Did you feel the cutting and tugging? I remember the awful sensation of the pulling and tugging when I had a C-section.

I need to have eye surgery, due to thyroid eye disease, and am terrified of going under GA, but don't know if I have the guts to suggest local.

Claudethecat · 24/09/2021 10:32

You were very brave to have it done under local. Must have been quite a strange experience!

FionasFanjoFondu · 24/09/2021 10:32

Also interested to know who you used. You look great!

thenightsky · 24/09/2021 10:34

Marking place to follow your progress as you heal. I'd love to lose my jowls and get a defined jaw line back, but I'm not prepared to put my face into the hands of someone who may be a cowboy/bit dodgy.

femfemlicious · 24/09/2021 10:37

Wow that is amazing

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 24/09/2021 10:40

When i had mine done i swelled up like a barrage balloon

Youre looking good 😀

It does make a big difference, my consultant said that basically it put my lower face back to how i looked when i was 40 but gravity and bad habits will still take their toll moving forward

The difference is amazing!!

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 10:47

@ToadstoolBubbleMaker I'm completely with you on that and I worry about young people messing with their faces too much.

My Dd is 29 and she is completely natural. The problem was losing weight so late ( I had been overweight since my 20's ) so my skin just didn't go back sadly.

The puckering at the scar site is the same in both sides and whilst it'll take a while to resolve it will smooth out. Six months from now the scars will be hardly visible with any luck.

This is the one time I'm glad I've got longer hair as if you had a pixie cut it's be hard to disguise I think.

Looks amazing! Well done you. V brave. Can I ask how you lost so much weight? Thanks and best wishes for recovery

OverByYer · 24/09/2021 10:49

Wow no wonder you are thrilled OP, the results are incredible.
FWIW a I would rather spend money on decent surgery than injectables etc; looks like money well spent.

Oblomov21 · 24/09/2021 10:51

Wow. The difference is huge. The first picture I can understand why it upset you. The picture of the scar and the ear made me wince because that is Beth bad, very major surgery.

SirYawnsAlot · 24/09/2021 10:56

Fantastic result.

Buggerthebotox · 24/09/2021 11:01

Amazing result. Thanks for sharing.

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 11:02

@Oblomov21 yes it made me wince too, I think because it's under local that I probably underestimated how sore it would be afterwards. That's the same for anyone whether they have a local or general. Painkillers are keeping it bearable though.

I'm surprised that the swelling is starting to go down already, I don't know why but apparently they put the equivalent of over a can of coke ( water ) into you during surgery and this is because you are not under a general.
