I had a neck and lower facelift 48 hours ago

I thought I’d post on here as it might be of some help to anyone considering the same. I have tried literally everything. Profilo, thread lifts, expensive creams such as strivectin and I was even booked in for Morpheus8 and facetite ( for the neck ) but I cancelled as it was 3k and I didn’t want to waste anymore money and only get a 25 - 30% improvement.

I do actually think that the above would and does work if you have fairly low key laxity but mine came from a 6 stone 3lb weight loss in my mid 40’s and, by 49 my neck was quite bad.

I’ve dabbled in Botox and fillers since I was about 42 and loved the effect they gave me. I wanted to feel more refreshed and look less knackered.

Anyway I found a surgeon who specialised in face and neck lifts ( as well as tummy tucks and breast augmentation ) but the face and neck lifts are usually done by him under a local anaesthetic - I absolutely didn’t want to go under. He does them under a local so as to minimise recovery times and not have to use bandages and drains ect.

Anyway I had the consultation a few months ago and it was booked for the 22nd of September ( he is booked up well in advance ) plus this gave me the chance to save further.

I had the surgery two days ago and within half an hour of it being over I was back in the car and on my way home ( I live 3 hours away from where I had it done ) it was more expensive than having it done locally but I would have had to have gone under and I wanted to avoid that.

He does at least 10 face and neck lifts per week ( I was one of three that day ) and I researched his work throughly. He is one of the top surgeons in this field so I was happy to go with him due to his experience.

Ive put a photo of me taken in the morning in the hotel before I left for the clinic and one half an hour afterward in the car on the way home.

To say after losing all that weight that I was left with no definable chin or jawline that I was upset would be minimising it, I had tried everything before this and used to avoid photos even my DD's wedding in June. I won’t lie I’m bloody over the moon with the results ( so far so good )

My lower face in the after pics is quite swollen still and it’s painful But the painkillers are doing the job though and I’m excited to be 1/2/3/4 weeks post procedure to see the results properly.

Scars will be along the hairline, there is some puckering in the upper incisions ( all completely normal ) but my profile is transformed. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy and I properly 💩 myself when I went into the theatre 😬 but I’m so glad I’ve done it!

I would say if you are very unhappy with your neck or jowls this is a great procedure, I believe that Morpheus8 and facetite can also give very good results too if yours isn’t as bad as mine was, you can pay a lot less than I did if you are happy to go under too.

I shall upload some more photos each week for progression and for anyone that’s considering this to see. I could do with a tummy tuck Ect but I’m not bothered about that as it’s my face that people see, I use Spanx and wonder bras and that works for me 🙂

I see lots of threads on what to do with a saggy neck or jowls, I’m not saying this is what anyone should do in fact I’d advocate trying everything else first, threads can be effective as can Morpheus8 and facetite they just didn’t give me the results I wanted.

I just wanted to post this as I saved for a long time and it wasn’t a quick decision but if you’ve tried everything and it makes you as sad as it made me then I’d say it’s well worth saving for if you can?

Bloody hell that's amazing! You look ... youthful and gorgeous. I'm staggered by that result.... off to instagram him now!

Maighnuad · 23/02/2022 14:23

You are so good to share this ! And you are beautiful !

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 23/02/2022 16:34

Wags you look fantastic!

The results are amazing and have really inspired me. Have you had any other work done? Your whole face looks great and I'd love to look as young and fresh as you do! Have you got any skincare or aesthetic tips?

I currently get botox and fillers but I'm starting to notice I want a wee bit more. And the texture of your skin looks great - do you use any special skincare? I'm just starting on retinol and I think I'm hoping for a miracle!

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 23/02/2022 16:38

Just read the thread the whole way through - congratulations on the weight loss too!

I'm on my weight loss journey and I just know that my neck and jowls are going to suffer as a result.

It's so bloody annoying keeping up appearances when you get a wee bit older!

dipdye · 23/02/2022 18:02

Stunning, op, simply stunning! You look amazing!

Thanks for posting, it's an inspiration!

@Wagsandclaws

Ok so it's been 5 months now and the scars have pretty much healed.

The shape of my face is how it will be now ( it was a bit extreme when first done ) I just want to pop up a couple of photos of me now.

I've had some lovely ems shows from people who have made their own enquiries about getting similar done and I would still say don't hesitate if it bothers you to the extent that it bothered me.

Still feel it's one of the best things that I've done for myself in terms of confidence and happiness in my own skin. I'm still a size 16/18 and actually put on a couple of stubborn lbs at Xmas that refuse to go but for me the issue was my saggy neck.

I wish I'd lost the weight in my 30's or better still never put I on at all, I have seen so many ladies saying that this was their biggest issue with a large loss of weight and it was an expensive fix. It's done now and I'm still very glad I had it done.

The first pic is before - as it was a lower face lift and neck lift the lower face is lifted in the subsequent pics. I use Botox and filler too but even they weren't helping much especially with my lower face.
The last two pics are now. Please excuse the red patch on my neck in one as I had an allergic reaction to a skin cream.

Hadn't seen this thread before but just wanted to say you look gorgeous. Yay!
AuntMasha · 23/02/2022 19:20

You look amazing OP! Enjoy your results. x

BarryTheChopper · 23/02/2022 19:41

You look amazing OP! And huge congrats on the weight loss.

peaceanddove · 23/02/2022 20:18

What a superb result. Sometimes only surgery will work.

I had an extended tummy tuck with liposuction last year and the results are amazing. I had a 4" diastatis recti - I could have done a thousand sit ups a day and it wouldn't have helped. My plastic surgeon was 5 hours stitching everything back to where it should be after my 2 botched c-sections had left me with virtually zero core strength and a flabby wedge of skin.

I paid £10K because I wanted a surgeon who was at the very top of their game. In 5 hours he took my tummy from a sagging, bloated size 14/16 to a flat, trim size 10/12. I also lost 7" off my waist too. My scar is no thicker than a felt tip line and is already fading to a silvery grey.

He wasn't just a plastic surgeon he was a bloody magician.

Craftycorvid · 23/02/2022 20:34

Wow! Who was your surgeon @peaceanddove ? And what was the recovery like? I’ve loose skin from weight loss plus meno’ and it’s really not going to be something that exercise and fancy body lotions will shift.

Wagsandclaws · 23/02/2022 21:19

Gosh didnt realise I'd had so many replies till I just checked in!
@ESGdance I use nars tinted moisturiser. It's brilliant stuff.

@ThankYouVeryMuchGerry I do take care of my skin and use retinol on prescription from dermatica and Obagi elastiderm around my eyes. Retinol once you get about 4/5 months in is transformative for skin texture imho.

No other work done though apart from cheek and nose to mouth filler and the usual spots for Botox.

@peaceanddove congrats on your results. If I'm completely honest I could do with that as well but I'm a bit paranoid about going under a ga and it's pretty heavy duty surgery but I do have a quite pronounced hanging stomach from weight loss and 5 children.

@Craftycorvid my surgeon was Amir at Bella Vou in Tunbridge Wells.

I live in Somerset but chose him as he will do face lifts under local and also because there are lots of examples of his work on line and he does about 5 a week ( along with tummy tucks and all sorts of other procedures ) he's quite busy!

Thank you all so much for the kind words don't me wrong it was pretty uncomfortable for a few days afterwards but it soon healed and it was so worth it.

It's absolutely true, life is way too short if you can fix what makes you unhappy and after all that weight loss I felt like it was the last peice of the puzzle.

Amazing result. You look incredible OP.

KATIEISACE · 22/04/2022 16:47

hello thanks for sharing :) would you still recommend the surgeon 2 years post op? thanks

Wagsandclaws · 22/04/2022 19:44

Hello, I'm only 7 months post op but I'm still bloody delighted with the results!

I am actually going back next week for a touch of vaser lipo on my double chin as my neck is perfect but I still have a bit of a double chin and I'd like my profile improved slightly.

My neck and lower face are all up where they should be though and even if I didn't have my chin done I'm still over the moon with the results.
