I thought I’d post on here as it might be of some help to anyone considering the same. I have tried literally everything. Profilo, thread lifts, expensive creams such as strivectin and I was even booked in for Morpheus8 and facetite ( for the neck ) but I cancelled as it was 3k and I didn’t want to waste anymore money and only get a 25 - 30% improvement.

I do actually think that the above would and does work if you have fairly low key laxity but mine came from a 6 stone 3lb weight loss in my mid 40’s and, by 49 my neck was quite bad.

I’ve dabbled in Botox and fillers since I was about 42 and loved the effect they gave me. I wanted to feel more refreshed and look less knackered.

Anyway I found a surgeon who specialised in face and neck lifts ( as well as tummy tucks and breast augmentation ) but the face and neck lifts are usually done by him under a local anaesthetic - I absolutely didn’t want to go under. He does them under a local so as to minimise recovery times and not have to use bandages and drains ect.

Anyway I had the consultation a few months ago and it was booked for the 22nd of September ( he is booked up well in advance ) plus this gave me the chance to save further.

I had the surgery two days ago and within half an hour of it being over I was back in the car and on my way home ( I live 3 hours away from where I had it done ) it was more expensive than having it done locally but I would have had to have gone under and I wanted to avoid that.

He does at least 10 face and neck lifts per week ( I was one of three that day ) and I researched his work throughly. He is one of the top surgeons in this field so I was happy to go with him due to his experience.

Ive put a photo of me taken in the morning in the hotel before I left for the clinic and one half an hour afterward in the car on the way home.

To say after losing all that weight that I was left with no definable chin or jawline that I was upset would be minimising it, I had tried everything before this and used to avoid photos even my DD's wedding in June. I won’t lie I’m bloody over the moon with the results ( so far so good )

My lower face in the after pics is quite swollen still and it’s painful But the painkillers are doing the job though and I’m excited to be 1/2/3/4 weeks post procedure to see the results properly.

Scars will be along the hairline, there is some puckering in the upper incisions ( all completely normal ) but my profile is transformed. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy and I properly 💩 myself when I went into the theatre 😬 but I’m so glad I’ve done it!

I would say if you are very unhappy with your neck or jowls this is a great procedure, I believe that Morpheus8 and facetite can also give very good results too if yours isn’t as bad as mine was, you can pay a lot less than I did if you are happy to go under too.

I shall upload some more photos each week for progression and for anyone that’s considering this to see. I could do with a tummy tuck Ect but I’m not bothered about that as it’s my face that people see, I use Spanx and wonder bras and that works for me 🙂

I see lots of threads on what to do with a saggy neck or jowls, I’m not saying this is what anyone should do in fact I’d advocate trying everything else first, threads can be effective as can Morpheus8 and facetite they just didn’t give me the results I wanted.

I just wanted to post this as I saved for a long time and it wasn’t a quick decision but if you’ve tried everything and it makes you as sad as it made me then I’d say it’s well worth saving for if you can?

Gosh yes forgot to update.

So I've had a further procedure ( vaser lipo ) to just give my chin a small helping hand back in April. There was quite a bit of fat there and I wanted to 'finish' off what I'd started so to speak.

Tbf my surgeon before he didn't the neck surgery a year ago did say you may well need vaser lipo in combination with the surgery.

Really pleased at the overall results but I am going back next month ( so a year after my original procedure ) to have a chat about where we are with things.

I still feel that it's one of the best things I ever did.

The cost was about £10.5k iirc and the further teatment of vaser lipo on my chin followed by renuivion ( skin tightening as the lipo is taking fat out of your chin ) was 4.5k.

That's it for me, there is no way I can afford anything else but I would wholeheartedly recommend both the surgery and the surgeon.

I've attached a few recent photos of me so you can see that my neck has held up a year later ( not sure if you can see the results of the lipo as he didn't suck out all the fat I suppose as it would look silly on a size 18 woman of 50! )

Fabulous photo's - thanks for the update.

DareDevil223 · 03/09/2022 13:22

@Wagsandclaws I hadn't seen this thread but it's really interesting. I'm in my mid 50s and I've lost 4 stone so far with another 4 to go probably so I'm sure I'll need some work done afterwards! I have no qualms about getting things done to improve things.
You look fabulous, you're a stunning looking woman, good on you.

Wagsandclaws · 03/09/2022 14:24

@DareDevil223 oooo well done!

I've put just over a stone of my 6 lost back on ( thanks menopause and anxiety ) but I'm trying very hard to stay on top of things.

I actually found the maintaining part the hardest bit of weight loss.

Also thank you so much for the competent. My self esteem since gaining a little bit back hasn't been great but I still maintain that the surgery was the best thing I did second to losing the weight.

I wish you all the luck in the world for your remaining weight loss journey - well done 🙌

@Wagsandclaws thank you, got a way to go yet but definitely feeling better than I did x

CandyLeBonBon · 03/09/2022 16:32

I know what you mean about maintaining op - I'm in a similar boat - I'm just about to book a consultation with him - good to know a real life example - you look fabulous!

MacaroniBaloney · 03/09/2022 16:47

Great thread OP, thank you for sharing everything. You look fab too, great results 👍

MustardIsTheOnlyCondiment · 03/09/2022 17:24

You look amazing 😍

Wagsandclaws · 03/09/2022 22:20

@CandyLeBonBon he's really nice and I felt utterly safe in his capable hands.

He does loads of different procedures each week and his work is viewable online so that made me feel really good and helped my decision.

Thanks guys for the complements, so kind of you all, it's honestly it's made such a difference to how I feel Smile

Hi I don't know if you will see this being an old thread but I wanted to ask how long your swelling lasted? I still have some and it's been 6 months. I had lower face and neck lift.
Doc assures me it will go and results take up to a year. Shame he didn't tell me this before the op! But it seems most of them don't from what I've discovered. I also feel the tightness and still can't lift my head right up and tip chin back fully. Hoping you will say you had similar but it all resolved and the results were worth the wait??? 🙏

i know this post is old, but there’s scant ‘real-life’ stories out there regarding this procedure. Absolutely keen as mustard to get it done, but the price is defo prohibitive: £26k

There's loads of real life stories on RealSelf - hate the name but it's a useful site and has been around ages so often stories will have updates, good and bad.
