I thought I’d post on here as it might be of some help to anyone considering the same. I have tried literally everything. Profilo, thread lifts, expensive creams such as strivectin and I was even booked in for Morpheus8 and facetite ( for the neck ) but I cancelled as it was 3k and I didn’t want to waste anymore money and only get a 25 - 30% improvement.

I do actually think that the above would and does work if you have fairly low key laxity but mine came from a 6 stone 3lb weight loss in my mid 40’s and, by 49 my neck was quite bad.

I’ve dabbled in Botox and fillers since I was about 42 and loved the effect they gave me. I wanted to feel more refreshed and look less knackered.

Anyway I found a surgeon who specialised in face and neck lifts ( as well as tummy tucks and breast augmentation ) but the face and neck lifts are usually done by him under a local anaesthetic - I absolutely didn’t want to go under. He does them under a local so as to minimise recovery times and not have to use bandages and drains ect.

Anyway I had the consultation a few months ago and it was booked for the 22nd of September ( he is booked up well in advance ) plus this gave me the chance to save further.

I had the surgery two days ago and within half an hour of it being over I was back in the car and on my way home ( I live 3 hours away from where I had it done ) it was more expensive than having it done locally but I would have had to have gone under and I wanted to avoid that.

He does at least 10 face and neck lifts per week ( I was one of three that day ) and I researched his work throughly. He is one of the top surgeons in this field so I was happy to go with him due to his experience.

Ive put a photo of me taken in the morning in the hotel before I left for the clinic and one half an hour afterward in the car on the way home.

To say after losing all that weight that I was left with no definable chin or jawline that I was upset would be minimising it, I had tried everything before this and used to avoid photos even my DD's wedding in June. I won’t lie I’m bloody over the moon with the results ( so far so good )

My lower face in the after pics is quite swollen still and it’s painful But the painkillers are doing the job though and I’m excited to be 1/2/3/4 weeks post procedure to see the results properly.

Scars will be along the hairline, there is some puckering in the upper incisions ( all completely normal ) but my profile is transformed. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy and I properly 💩 myself when I went into the theatre 😬 but I’m so glad I’ve done it!

I would say if you are very unhappy with your neck or jowls this is a great procedure, I believe that Morpheus8 and facetite can also give very good results too if yours isn’t as bad as mine was, you can pay a lot less than I did if you are happy to go under too.

I shall upload some more photos each week for progression and for anyone that’s considering this to see. I could do with a tummy tuck Ect but I’m not bothered about that as it’s my face that people see, I use Spanx and wonder bras and that works for me 🙂

I see lots of threads on what to do with a saggy neck or jowls, I’m not saying this is what anyone should do in fact I’d advocate trying everything else first, threads can be effective as can Morpheus8 and facetite they just didn’t give me the results I wanted.

I just wanted to post this as I saved for a long time and it wasn’t a quick decision but if you’ve tried everything and it makes you as sad as it made me then I’d say it’s well worth saving for if you can?

Thanks again, I'm honestly so pleased. I don't want to minimise it and say it's a breeze. Its still really sore and numb in places but that's only to be expected.

@whatnumber I think you can still use retinol although I wouldn't put it on or too near the scars, I know that you have to be super careful about sun exposure for at least a year after surgery as your scars will go bright red if exposed to the sun. This isn't a problem for me as I don't do sunbathing and I use a factor 50 sunscreen due to the retinol anyway.

Tbh I've only just started using retinol and used a milder over the counter version before, I hope it sorts out the occasional spot I still get and improves my skin texture.

I will keep using the strivectin on my neck as I want to keep the texture of my skin as nice as I can. I do have some faint lines on my décolleté from sleeping on my side and having large norks so it's good for that too.

What I've found is that you can spend as much as you like on creams and potions but it will only improve the actual skin texture, even retinol as amazing as it is can't help gravity and if the 'scaffolding' is compromised so to speak you have to address that first.

@CherryRipe1 about two hours I think, it passes super quickly though as Amir chats his way through the procedure and I was happy to talk to take my mind off any 'noises' that accompanied what he was doing 🤣

You look great op Flowers

doorornottodoor · 24/09/2021 17:45

Looks amazing!!!Thsnks for sharing.

I was looking at Profilho for a bit of crepiness /necklace lines - did you find it made any difference?

MorrisZapp · 24/09/2021 17:51

Amazing result! Can anyone explain why you need drains etc with a general but not with a local?

I'm the opposite to you op, I love a general anaesthetic!

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 24/09/2021 18:25

Wow that is transformative. Well done 😊

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 18:29

@doorornottodoor the Profilo did nothing sadly, it might help with crepeyness as long as it's just skin texture and no sagging though.

@MorrisZapp no idea about the drains thing - ha ha you aren't the only one, I know lots of people who'd prefer to be out for the count too!

@LadyTiredWinterBottom2 thank you Smile

You look fantastic - well done for being so brave.

Fingerbobs · 24/09/2021 18:49

Oh my WORD that is amazing! I’m the same age as you and 18 months of bloody zoom/Teams have not improved my neck/jaw confidence - I might have to start saving having seen this. You look fab Smile

Touty · 24/09/2021 19:00

Amazing, does he do breast reduction ?

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 19:03

He does breast and tummies - pretty sure he must drive as well as augment.

Thanks so much - I didn't feel that brave when I got in the theatre but we got going pretty quickly and it wasn't so bad.

You look stunning OP

ProfessorInkling · 24/09/2021 19:40

Wow OP, you look amazing! Fab result. Well done on the weight loss, and at sticking where you’re comfy/what’s realistic, enjoy being where you are Flowers

Thank you @Wagsandclaws. That's pretty fast, I imagined that it tooks hours & hours. I've been hoiking my face up today seeing what an improvement a face & necklift will make. Lol.

Alternista · 25/09/2021 00:45

So pleased you started this thread. You look amazing :)

Wagsandclaws · 25/09/2021 07:54

@ProfessorInkling thank you, it's not the dream fir some people being 12 stone but I've come pretty far and I think at 5.5 I look pretty nice in my stuff and that's all that counts in the end isn't it? Self esteem is everything

@CherryRipe1 pah ha ha I did that every single day from the time I booked it ( 5 months before ) to the morning that I took those photos just before leaving for the clinic.

The thing is I didn't think it would be like when I hoiked my face up in the mirror but it is! 🤣

@Alternista thank you so much I'm feeling really positive about getting it done.

@MoonlightMedicine & @Plumtree391 thank you both, I woke up this morning and went straight to check that my chin was still in the same place 🤣

CandyLeBonBon · 25/09/2021 08:58

I keep doing the hoiking up thing too!!

Window1 · 25/09/2021 09:27

Can I ask if there is anything you could or should have done when you get as prevention for needing this, or is it the case that if you're going to need it, you will?

I feel like my chin is going that way but I've never been massively overweight so not sure if there's anything else I can do.

Could or should have done when younger that should read.

@Touty

Amazing, does he do breast reduction ?
I have recently had a breast lift ( v similar surgery to reduction), implant replacement and capsule removal with Amir.

He has done an incredible job with quite a complex case. My breasts look and feel small and natural, which is what I wanted. He really listened to my concerns. I'd really recommend him.

Wagsandclaws · 25/09/2021 09:47

@Window1 I do think sometimes it's genetics, keeping a stable weight will help too but even the smallest of women will get jowls sometimes.

I also think face shape makes a difference , I've seen very overweight women with hardly any hint of a double chin and they seem to have heart shaped faces and tbh I don't think they will get what I did after being overweight.

I also have a good friend who lost more weight than I did and her neck didn't go like mine did it's the luck of the draw and genetics I think 🤷‍♀️

I do firmly believe that good creams such as strivectin or Prai do help with texture and are worth using ( I still will be ) but once the sagging starts there isn't much you can do as face creams are mostly topical.

Morpheus8 and facetite do work if it's not too bad, I've some good before and afters but they would have had limited success with me.

I've had two thread lifts as well on my neck ( Amir was still coming across them during my surgery 🤢) and they just made hardly any difference at all and were so expensive as well as being initially painful. I'm not a great believer in threads at all tbh.

I just can't believe I'm going to be able to wear polo necks and high necked tops again, last winter the skin just fell over the top of them so I gave up wearing them at all.

@cathyandclare doesn't surprise me - he's an extremely good surgeon, so glad you are happy with the job he did Smile

I watched a documentary he was in and noticed he said he doesn't do rhinoplasties ( noses ) I think think that's right anyway.
