I had a neck and lower facelift 48 hours ago

I thought I’d post on here as it might be of some help to anyone considering the same. I have tried literally everything. Profilo, thread lifts, expensive creams such as strivectin and I was even booked in for Morpheus8 and facetite ( for the neck ) but I cancelled as it was 3k and I didn’t want to waste anymore money and only get a 25 - 30% improvement.

I do actually think that the above would and does work if you have fairly low key laxity but mine came from a 6 stone 3lb weight loss in my mid 40’s and, by 49 my neck was quite bad.

I’ve dabbled in Botox and fillers since I was about 42 and loved the effect they gave me. I wanted to feel more refreshed and look less knackered.

Anyway I found a surgeon who specialised in face and neck lifts ( as well as tummy tucks and breast augmentation ) but the face and neck lifts are usually done by him under a local anaesthetic - I absolutely didn’t want to go under. He does them under a local so as to minimise recovery times and not have to use bandages and drains ect.

Anyway I had the consultation a few months ago and it was booked for the 22nd of September ( he is booked up well in advance ) plus this gave me the chance to save further.

I had the surgery two days ago and within half an hour of it being over I was back in the car and on my way home ( I live 3 hours away from where I had it done ) it was more expensive than having it done locally but I would have had to have gone under and I wanted to avoid that.

He does at least 10 face and neck lifts per week ( I was one of three that day ) and I researched his work throughly. He is one of the top surgeons in this field so I was happy to go with him due to his experience.

Ive put a photo of me taken in the morning in the hotel before I left for the clinic and one half an hour afterward in the car on the way home.

To say after losing all that weight that I was left with no definable chin or jawline that I was upset would be minimising it, I had tried everything before this and used to avoid photos even my DD's wedding in June. I won’t lie I’m bloody over the moon with the results ( so far so good )

My lower face in the after pics is quite swollen still and it’s painful But the painkillers are doing the job though and I’m excited to be 1/2/3/4 weeks post procedure to see the results properly.

Scars will be along the hairline, there is some puckering in the upper incisions ( all completely normal ) but my profile is transformed. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy and I properly 💩 myself when I went into the theatre 😬 but I’m so glad I’ve done it!

I would say if you are very unhappy with your neck or jowls this is a great procedure, I believe that Morpheus8 and facetite can also give very good results too if yours isn’t as bad as mine was, you can pay a lot less than I did if you are happy to go under too.

I shall upload some more photos each week for progression and for anyone that’s considering this to see. I could do with a tummy tuck Ect but I’m not bothered about that as it’s my face that people see, I use Spanx and wonder bras and that works for me 🙂

I see lots of threads on what to do with a saggy neck or jowls, I’m not saying this is what anyone should do in fact I’d advocate trying everything else first, threads can be effective as can Morpheus8 and facetite they just didn’t give me the results I wanted.

I just wanted to post this as I saved for a long time and it wasn’t a quick decision but if you’ve tried everything and it makes you as sad as it made me then I’d say it’s well worth saving for if you can?

@itbemay1 I lost it over 4 years or so, slowly and it wasn't anything special just didn't eat as much and my appetite decreased. Then I got Campylobacter and lost another stone so it was a bit here and a bit there if you see what I mean?

I'm 5.5 and 12 stone so still have a bmi of 27 which to a lot of people would still be quite heavy, I'd love to say yes I lost it all and Now I'm a size 10 Grin but no, I'm a 16 and I think after being 18.4 this feels like a good place to settle. I don't know, maybe I will lose another stone or two but I've been this weight for over a year now and haven't really been too bothered about losing anymore.

Thank you for this. I found it very informative. I can't afford it but if I could I would consider it for the future. I have jowls coming. Yesterday I went into NEXT and tried something on. The mirrors they have in there are very unforgiving and showed to me me a side profile which I did not like :(

Well done. I have 4 stone to lose and it is taking forever!! But good to hear you got there in the end!! Thank you for sharing

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 11:25

@Anordinarymum I had to save for ages, it was more important to me than a holiday Ect and my family knew this and how unhappy my neck made me.

I avoided looking at my side profile but the odd photo would turn up and made me v unhappy.

I think it's important to find someone that you trust and for me it was worth every Penny as you are paying for experience and expertise and your face and health are in this practitioners hands aren't they?

Amazing result, OP - looking fab! How much did it cost? I definitely want to save for something similar in the not too distant future - my side profile is similar to your "before" picture.

tickledtiger · 24/09/2021 11:31

Looking good!

nc4565 · 24/09/2021 11:33

Fantastic results OP! I bet you're pleased Smile

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 11:37

Thanks guys I'm over the moon!

@knackeredcat I wanted a very good surgeon and to have under a local so it was 10.5k he's one of the top surgeons for this type of procedure and I did my homework as in the end it's your face and health so no price on that. I saved a long time though Smile

You look amazing, the results are fantastic- thank you for sharing how you went about this and the photos -really helpful and inspiring - makes me positive that things can change.

I totally agree and think you look amazing.

Charlieiscool · 24/09/2021 11:40

That’s brilliant and so sensible to have it under a local anaesthetic. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress and I think it’s well worth the money. I’m tempted myself.

KimDeals · 24/09/2021 11:41

Amazing!!! And congratulations on your weight loss too. You look really, really good OP!

LaurieFairyCake · 24/09/2021 11:45

That is THE MOST incredible result!

I genuinely think that looks like your daughter in the photos, it's that good

You've knocked 15 years off Thanks

GreekTragedy · 24/09/2021 11:46

Hi OP looks amazing! How old are you? I can't see anywhere in your post that says your current age! Sorry I've missed it!

NigellaAwesome · 24/09/2021 11:47

Awesome!

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 11:48

@GreekTragedy I'm 49 - 50 in January Smile

looks very good. happy for you op.
thanks for sharing.

GreekTragedy · 24/09/2021 11:53

I've just been stalking the surgeon on Insta! Some of the results are out this world!

dworky · 24/09/2021 12:00

Over 10 grand for a local anaesthetic. How the hell does he justify charging double the same op under general? Surely it should be cheaper.

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 12:09

He's amazing isn't he? I love that he manages your expectations and doesn't promise you what can't be delivered and isn't unrealistic.

Tbh I didn't expect it to be as good as this so my expectations were way below what Amir delivered . Probably shouldn't have been as some of his before and afters are amazing.

@Wagsandclaws Fabulous result! You look fantastic! You’re very brave to have been awake 😯 I think the shock would kill me 😬

I’ll be following as really interested.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 24/09/2021 12:13

It takes years off you, OP.

I'd like to have my jowls tightened!

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 12:15

@dworky I don't think it's the local you are paying for I think it's his expertise and skill.

I'd rather someone who did several of these per week than someone who charged a lot less and did several a year.

Each into their own though for me it was worth every penny.

Shannith · 24/09/2021 12:15

What an extremely helpful post OP - I'm so pleased it's worked so well for you.

An excellent decision and use of the plastic surgery that's available now.

You look amazing - I hope you feel the same.
