I had a neck and lower facelift 48 hours ago

I thought I’d post on here as it might be of some help to anyone considering the same. I have tried literally everything. Profilo, thread lifts, expensive creams such as strivectin and I was even booked in for Morpheus8 and facetite ( for the neck ) but I cancelled as it was 3k and I didn’t want to waste anymore money and only get a 25 - 30% improvement.

I do actually think that the above would and does work if you have fairly low key laxity but mine came from a 6 stone 3lb weight loss in my mid 40’s and, by 49 my neck was quite bad.

I’ve dabbled in Botox and fillers since I was about 42 and loved the effect they gave me. I wanted to feel more refreshed and look less knackered.

Anyway I found a surgeon who specialised in face and neck lifts ( as well as tummy tucks and breast augmentation ) but the face and neck lifts are usually done by him under a local anaesthetic - I absolutely didn’t want to go under. He does them under a local so as to minimise recovery times and not have to use bandages and drains ect.

Anyway I had the consultation a few months ago and it was booked for the 22nd of September ( he is booked up well in advance ) plus this gave me the chance to save further.

I had the surgery two days ago and within half an hour of it being over I was back in the car and on my way home ( I live 3 hours away from where I had it done ) it was more expensive than having it done locally but I would have had to have gone under and I wanted to avoid that.

He does at least 10 face and neck lifts per week ( I was one of three that day ) and I researched his work throughly. He is one of the top surgeons in this field so I was happy to go with him due to his experience.

Ive put a photo of me taken in the morning in the hotel before I left for the clinic and one half an hour afterward in the car on the way home.

To say after losing all that weight that I was left with no definable chin or jawline that I was upset would be minimising it, I had tried everything before this and used to avoid photos even my DD's wedding in June. I won’t lie I’m bloody over the moon with the results ( so far so good )

My lower face in the after pics is quite swollen still and it’s painful But the painkillers are doing the job though and I’m excited to be 1/2/3/4 weeks post procedure to see the results properly.

Scars will be along the hairline, there is some puckering in the upper incisions ( all completely normal ) but my profile is transformed. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t easy and I properly 💩 myself when I went into the theatre 😬 but I’m so glad I’ve done it!

I would say if you are very unhappy with your neck or jowls this is a great procedure, I believe that Morpheus8 and facetite can also give very good results too if yours isn’t as bad as mine was, you can pay a lot less than I did if you are happy to go under too.

I shall upload some more photos each week for progression and for anyone that’s considering this to see. I could do with a tummy tuck Ect but I’m not bothered about that as it’s my face that people see, I use Spanx and wonder bras and that works for me 🙂

I see lots of threads on what to do with a saggy neck or jowls, I’m not saying this is what anyone should do in fact I’d advocate trying everything else first, threads can be effective as can Morpheus8 and facetite they just didn’t give me the results I wanted.

I just wanted to post this as I saved for a long time and it wasn’t a quick decision but if you’ve tried everything and it makes you as sad as it made me then I’d say it’s well worth saving for if you can?

What a fantastic result, were you scared before?

BlackSwan · 24/09/2021 14:10

You look amazing!
Having had Morpheus8 I can tell you the pain is phenomenal, akin to torture (needles & electricity in your face anyone?) and there's no way it would give you these results.

LightDrizzle · 24/09/2021 14:11

Thank you for sharing, I’m going to follow your thread. You look great.

Did you discuss how long the results usually last? Will further surgery down the line be required/ possible?

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 14:14

@Dragongirl10 I wasn't - I literally couldn't wait 🤣.

When I got in the theatre I was a bit scared but it was so quick with me being prepped, laid down and the local going in it started before you know it.

It's also amazing being able to have a full in conversation with your surgeon. I'm taking my DC's to Lapland this Christmas and he was telling me all about his trip with his wife and DC's too which was lovely.

You look amazing OP - hope you have a speedy recovery!

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 14:16

@BlackSwan ahhh I wondered what that was like r.e. The Morpheus8, I had that booked along with the facetite and just didn't go ahead as was too expensive and I was worried that there wouldn't be enough of an improvement for how much I'd spend.

It looks bloody brutal!

What do your friends and family say?

We’re all delighted for you and we’re just on the internet Grin

We’re they amazed?

mcmooberry · 24/09/2021 14:23

I'm commenting to follow, what a transformation! Am ruling out nothing for myself and thanks for naming your surgeon!

Wagsandclaws · 24/09/2021 14:24

@LightDrizzle there is no timeline I'm afraid, no surgeon will give you an exact time as to how long your work will last, we all keep on aging despite the things we do to try and stop it and I have to say that I'd be happy to get 5/6 years from this before I'd need to consider it again, who knows though 🤷‍♀️

He is conciencious enough that he wants his patients to be happy and therefore have a realistic time frame as to how long your surgery should last. It won't be as tight this time next year I expect and so on year after year, I had lower expectations than I what has materialised so I am overjoyed at this result, I'm not silly enough to think that this will be the end result though it's all subjective - it may look a little looser in six months 🤷‍♀️

Anything was better than how it was. I used to tilt my head in a photo with my little boys or something and it would all go sideways - I hated it.

@MarshaBradyo I phoned my Dh when I got to the car ( my eldest DD drove me to and from ) and my husband said wow you can see straight away, look at your pointy chin 🤣 thanks!

I haven't really seen anyone but I sent the before and after pics to my other older DC's and they were amazed it really does make such a difference.

My skin ( apart from the odd spot - see pics ) is not too bad as I have avoided the sun long term and use a retinol from a monthly subscription service, I have Botox and a little bit of filler too in my nose to mouth lines and cheeks

Wow thats a massive difference

WhatIsThisPlease · 24/09/2021 15:01

Oh wow!! You look amazing!!!!

I have jowls and a scraggy neck. I'd love to have something like this done but really don't want a general aesthetic.

I've been wondering about a one stitch facelift.

Thank you for posting - looking forward to seeing your future photos!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 24/09/2021 15:06

whatnumber · 24/09/2021 15:37

Wow you look great.
What is the skin aftercare? Do you continue to use retinol or have they recommended a specific cream?

CherryRipe1 · 24/09/2021 16:04

You look fantastic, amazing transformation, it's an excellent job your surgeon has done. I've just returned from a break in Tunbridge Wells and will be going back! How long did the procedure take? Well done on the weight loss too!
