Your link isn't working for me www.vogue.co.uk/beauty/article/sali-hughes-grey-hair

I think she looked better beforehand. The silvery strands through her brown hair looked really attractive.

Personally I don't see the point in 'going grey' (or in her case dyeing one's hair grey) if it means you're going to have to spend so much more time and money on it when her natural hair seems to have required minimal upkeep.

I saw that picture earlier - think she looks great.

ZaraW · 26/05/2021 16:57

Serpenta thanks for link. That's not a great photo with grey hair. It looks amazing in her Instagram video. Agree her natural hair looks good too.

OP posts:
Marjoriesdoor · 26/05/2021 17:10

I think she explained it pretty well - the point was her natural colour was becoming tedious because it was turning grey but very slowly meaning that a ponytail would end up being one colour at the front and another at the back and, because of her severe allergy to PPD, she couldn’t just dye it all brown. I think it looks fab and it’s really refreshing to see someone embracing something different.

EarringsandLipstick · 26/05/2021 17:23

I mean, she looks well, because she always does.

I don't like her hair, I think it looks really streaky, yellow-ish & a whole mish-mash of colours. (That's on the video on IG).

But that's just my opinion, cool that she likes it.

Also she can achieve this through her job as an influencer, a regular person couldn't possibly manage all this, even tho she says she went to the training academy. I just hate that whole free treatment thing (and I know that's exactly the point of being an influencer!).

And I was massively distracted by her over-Botoxed brow too.

DaisyDando · 26/05/2021 17:26

I think she looks beautiful, but I suppose it does help that she actually is beautiful.

Serpenta · 26/05/2021 17:29

Well it will be interesting to see how she gets on with the upkeep. Grey hair is pigmentless so I don't imagine it's easy to imitate that convincingly with dye.

PuppyMonkey · 26/05/2021 17:35

Haven’t read the article properly but her hair just looks blonde to me. Easier to dye the grey out as it comes through I guess?

Oblomov21 · 26/05/2021 17:41

I can't see the grey. It just looks really highlighted. This is really disappointing.

SoupDragon · 26/05/2021 17:42

On the video I think it looked good straight from the salon and dreadful thereafter.

Cocolapew · 26/05/2021 17:44

She just looks blonde Confused I'm naturally grey and that's nothing like it.

ILoveShula · 26/05/2021 17:48

Her hair is fine but the slug eyebrows aren't.

PickAChew · 26/05/2021 17:49

Well, she's just highlighted her hair like tens of thousands of other women do. It's hardly revolutionary. (it also looks a bit crispy)

EarringsandLipstick · 26/05/2021 18:23

To me, it does look grey but very artificially so, not like lovely grey hair that I see on some women & admire.

But that's a bit of an obvious statement as it is of course artificial.

I agree that it looks kinda wrecked from all the processing - 7 hours! 😳

Also agree that she is beautiful.

CheerfulBunny · 26/05/2021 18:26

It's OK but I wouldn't have said it was grey, just very aggressive, harsh highlights. Maybe it will soften with time. My hair is similar in that I am dark auburn with creeping grey and I've started tentatively highlighting it myself. It takes hours but so far I'm happy with the results. Definitely blond though but it's hiding the greys.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/05/2021 18:34

I watched her Instagram video and thought it looked lovely in the salon, but the colour in some parts even then was a bit yellow-y. I agree with pp that as an influencer she can access free treatments which would be beyond most people - the colour was done at a training academy which anyone can go to, but the cut was #kindlygifted at a very swanky salon.

I think she is very beautiful but I do prefer her natural colour.

Tal45 · 26/05/2021 19:20

Doesn't look grey to me - I'd call it ash blonde.

YourCakesAreShit · 26/05/2021 19:44

I really like it. I think it really suits her and I hope I can do something similar when my greys get too much to cover with a semi-permanent dye.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/05/2021 20:42

@Cocolapew

She just looks blonde Confused I'm naturally grey and that's nothing like it.
This! Nothing like grey!
ThursdayWeld · 26/05/2021 20:44

She just looks like she's got eighties style frosty highlights.

Basically, she's gone blonde.

Lookdeepintotheparka · 26/05/2021 20:45

I watched the Insta video too and loved it when first done. Just watched another of her videos from today and her hair looks really different! Much more blonde/highlighted. Could just be the lighting Confused

It's a dilemma for many women so I'm glad she's talking about it. My greys are a similar level to hers when she had it done but I'm not sure I could afford the time or money to take the same approach!

DietrichandDiMaggio · 26/05/2021 21:06

Another thing is that it probably will be many years before her hair is naturally grey all over, so she will have to bleach and dye for a very long time.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/05/2021 21:10

I agree that it looks very 80s and more blonde than grey. She is gorgeous, but I preferred it natural, and without the funny little fringe.

Blondiney · 26/05/2021 21:30

It is grey but then to me all those very ashy, icy blonde shades look grey. Grin

JaneJeffer · 26/05/2021 21:45

She hasn't gone grey. She's dyed her hair Hmm
