I'm done with skinny jeans... what style are you wearing?

I don't know what's happened over lockdown (I suspect it's too much comfy loungewear) but I'm not enjoying wearing skinny jeans any more.

I don't feel particularly comfortable in them, and I just feel like I'm "over" them, I feel a bit dated when I'm wearing them.

What style jeans is everyone wearing now, which are your favourites please?!

@Lululu22 itbj m that’s true about Boden jeans. I have so many pairs of their jeans because they do petite but not all styles/washes are the same on me

OysterMonkey · 29/03/2021 18:06

@Lululu22
I’ll be wearing either the blue gap cigarette ones I posted above rolled up.
Or the M&S Lilys rolled up.
The short is a good fit. Now need to decide on colour!

Lululu22 · 29/03/2021 23:20

Thanks ... am just going to order half a dozen pairs to try ... no other option!

OysterMonkey · 29/03/2021 23:41

Yeah - that’s what I’ve done!

Tsmummy08 · 30/03/2021 07:46

Thanks to this thread I've just bought two of the M&S Balloon jeans - thought they'd be too high but they're perfect! I would never have tried them off the rack but they're not too high waisted, sit on the ankle and don't make my arse look massive - winner!

For reference, I'm 5'0, size 6-8 (bought 6 short) but small waist/bigger bum/thighs - these nip right in at the waist, no back-gap and no weird zip-bulge at the front. The grey ones are slightly bigger than the dark indigo (which are more like a mid blue). I've tried at least a dozen pairs (Mint Velvet, M&S, Next, GAP) over the last couple of weeks, v happy with these...

I'll need a pair of skinnies/jeggings/slim tucked into boots for dog walking in colder weather, but love this different silhouette for summer - great thread!

Tillytwilight · 30/03/2021 08:49

Uniqlo jeggings. They’re super comfortable and flattering. They sell out quickly online though. Hoping my local store has spring colours in when they open up

reader12 · 30/03/2021 09:08

I just ordered some gap cigarette jeans and really like them, thanks to everyone who recommended. I found they came up quite small, I am a size 12 in M&S, 14 most other places and probably 16 in young peoples shops. I ordered 12 and 14 in the gap jeans and only kept the 14s, which are snug, but very flattering.

Sooverthemill · 31/03/2021 10:02

@reader12 I have a pair from 2 years ago and they are great aren't they?

trumpisaflump · 31/03/2021 10:43

I love the Gap cigarette jeans and have the blue and black colours. The black strangely aren't as flattering as the blue but I still like them. 'm waiting until there is an offer on and I'll order the white ones for summer.

KitchenFairy · 31/03/2021 11:50

Gap cigarettes jeans have arrived and I absolutely love them. They’re so soft and comfortable.

I’ve turned them up but again I’ll probably get them trimmed and taken up as I want them just sitting on my ankle - I must have very short legs, I end up getting most of my petite trousers adjusted in length.

@trumpisaflump - glad it wasn’t just me who noticed that. I much prefer black jeans over blue. But the black gap cigarette ones did absolutely nothing for me, whereas the blue ones were great!

They look fab! They’re really comfortable aren’t they. I’m definitely keeping them.
Laquila · 31/03/2021 12:41

Can I just say...it's FINE to wear jeans that you don't think flatter you, in fact it's very liberating!! I know it's not for everyone but I bloody love my mom jeans and barrel leg jeans mainly because I'm wearing them for myself, because they're comfy and I don't have to breathe in 😁

In fact I almost think that's the point of mom jeans - they're not flattering on anyone, really!

Sendmetobarbados · 31/03/2021 13:23

This thread has prompted me to buy another pair of the M&S balloon jeans. I've already got the dark blue and I've ordered the grey. Love them! They appear to be a man-repeller in my house, as DH seems to prefer me in tight skinnies (which I'm so over). I'll only ever wear skinnies on muddy walks with wellies from now on!

Tsmummy08 · 31/03/2021 15:43

@Sendmetobarbados We've got exactly the same situation here! DH is not a fan... Grin

CleverCatty · 31/03/2021 16:13

still doing skinnies but also doing jeggings.

CleverCatty · 31/03/2021 16:14

oh and wearing mom jeans too.

Sendmetobarbados · 01/04/2021 13:23

@Tsmummy08 Ha, if my DH was to choose my outfit he'd have me in skinny jeans and stilettos. Oh, and probably a leather jacket. Essentially, I'd be the twin of Dorian from Birds of a Feather 😂

OysterMonkey · 01/04/2021 19:03

My short Lilys arrived today. In black, grey and indigo.
I’m keeping the black and grey. 👍🏻👍🏻
20% off with a Sparks deal, so they worked out about £16.50. Bargain!!!

OysterMonkey · 01/04/2021 19:04

£15.60 actually, so even more bargainous!!

Iamthewombat · 01/04/2021 20:29

I can really recommend M&S slim flare jeans:

www.marksandspencer.com/magic-shaping-high-waist-slim-bootcut-jeans/p/clp60449831

They are styled horribly in the picture but look great with high block heeled shoes/sandals and a fitted top. I think that @ArseInTheCoOpWindow is quite right about skinny jeans’ position in the cycle of fashion. Definitely on the downward slope. Time for a different shape (which is what the expensive denim labels are doing).

Oh god yes

NeedATan · 02/04/2021 07:17

@Eesha

What is the difference between the Lilys, Siena and Sophia?
Thank you. I was wondering too.
TheRoaringGirl · 02/04/2021 07:59

Can anybody tell me what the difference is between the jeans and the jeggings? I have loads of their jeggings but they look to be made from the same material as the jeans so is it just that the jeans have more detail eg buckles and zips?
