I'm done with skinny jeans... what style are you wearing?

I don't know what's happened over lockdown (I suspect it's too much comfy loungewear) but I'm not enjoying wearing skinny jeans any more.

I don't feel particularly comfortable in them, and I just feel like I'm "over" them, I feel a bit dated when I'm wearing them.

What style jeans is everyone wearing now, which are your favourites please?!

I love the Lily’s too,

I have about 8 pairs!

OysterMonkey · 26/03/2021 13:45

They do look good.
Might have to order some....

felineflutter · 26/03/2021 13:47

I recently bought some Boden girlfriend jeans and can't decide if I look nice or like I am on a mid-90s school trip

Haha yes me too.

I ordered some and thought they looked great and so ordered another pair. I am now looking at them and feel like frumpy from frumpsville. Confused

My DD tells me I am not to buy another pair of dark denim jeans. She is sporting a look I would have definitely worn in the 90s - black flared jeans, Smashing Pumpkins tshirt cropped too and baggy shirt with DMs.

Eesha · 26/03/2021 13:52

What is the difference between the Lilys, Siena and Sophia?

KitchenFairy · 26/03/2021 13:56

@Eesha Lily’s are slim straight leg, so very slim (but not skinny) on the thighs and calves but not tight round the ankles, Sienna are true straight leg jeans, there’s some spare around the thighs on me. I haven’t tried the Sophia.

RampantIvy · 26/03/2021 13:59

I would class Sophia as slim straight. I have chunky thighs so they are tight on my thighs.

PurpleDaisies · 26/03/2021 14:03

For me personally, the waist on the Sophia jeans was just too high and I felt ridiculous. I can see how they’d suit others though. I’ve been meaning to order a pair of lily jeans for ages-maybe now is the time. Yours look lovely op.

KitchenFairy · 26/03/2021 14:09

Thanks PurpleDaisies, I was just wondering why I didn't order the Sophia jeans - it was the high waist. The website classes the Lily as mid rise waist.

Just tried the Sophia, a lot like Topshop Jamie but my belly felt huge in it. I think Siennas looked better.

IndecentFeminist · 26/03/2021 16:49

Funnily enough I have just taken delivery of some Lillies. I have previously tried m&s 'mom' jeans but they were just too short, and didn't have enough of a definable shape. Going to try these one shortly

Authenticchicken · 26/03/2021 18:03

Grin So glad it isn't just me. I am holding out for me loving them in summer with birkies. Right now? No.

I looked like that mid 90s too Smile (after my tapered jeans school exchange phase!).

Authenticchicken · 26/03/2021 18:12

@KitchenFairy and @AColdDuncanGoodhew both those jeans look really nice.

Standrewsschool · 26/03/2021 18:32

It’s typical, I’ve been wearing bootcuts throughout the last few years. Brought my first pair of skinnies last year after loosing weight and gaining confidence. Now they’re unfashionable! (Stamps feet!).

What body shapes do mom jeans suit?

felineflutter · 26/03/2021 18:43

@authenticchicken. I am wondering whether to size down so they are tighter. I have already sized down one size but should I try a smaller size?

Selkiesarereal · 26/03/2021 19:05

I agree with other posters regarding feeling like skinnies are dated but as I have short legs they were great as I could always roll up.

I’m 5”3 so any suggestions that would work?

RampantIvy · 26/03/2021 19:27

How do you define what is dated when the item in question is still so ubiquitous?

Where I live just about everyone is still in skinny jeans, and when I look online for jeans there are far more skinny styles than any other.

IrishGirl2020 · 26/03/2021 20:05

Most people aged 25+ around here still wearing skinny jeans too but I’m starting to see some wider legged ankle length jeans now the weather is a bit warmer

At the moment it’s only the cool teenage girls around here who are wearing flares with long centre parted hair looking very 1970s. But that probably means a change in fashion is coming for the rest of us.
However I haven’t yet seen anyone my age (mid 40s) wear bootcut or flares styles (maybe because we all remember the risk of terrible accidents when getting our shoes caught in the hems 😂😂😂)

Authenticchicken · 26/03/2021 20:26

@felineflutter I think I should have sized down. I ignored the reviews which all said to! They are comfy tho Smile

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 26/03/2021 20:49

I wear the Lilys in 2 sizes.

Slightly tight as slim
Next size as girlfriend/boyfriend.

felineflutter · 26/03/2021 21:54

Yes authentic. I think I might put them on a hot wash and then tumble dry them. Just had a nice flashback of Nick Kamen. Smile

RampantIvy · 26/03/2021 22:44

I find M and S jeans shrink, and I often size up because of this. It isn't just me eating too many cakes Grin because they shrink in length as well.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 27/03/2021 09:18

Alas, l have two sizes due to my love of eating cakes....

Oooh Nick Kamen, a blast from the past...

Authenticchicken · 27/03/2021 10:38

One of the best ads ever! Wink

Redruby2020 · 27/03/2021 10:49

@KitchenFairy Jeggings? I live in those, even used to dress some up for nights out, or sometimes a good legging with a tunic/dress style for occasions. But am also looking for what else I can wear, not keen on joggers especially the thicker ones as they make me look even bigger. And yeah there are other styles of bottoms out there, but then I don't know how to wear them 😙

Sooverthemill · 27/03/2021 11:00

Barrel, straight, crop flare, skinny ( recent purchase didn't really wear them before), wide leg, boyfriend, girlfriend, relaxed, relaxed slim, I have about 35 pairs of jeans, it's basically all I ever wear
