I'm done with skinny jeans... what style are you wearing?

I don't know what's happened over lockdown (I suspect it's too much comfy loungewear) but I'm not enjoying wearing skinny jeans any more.

I don't feel particularly comfortable in them, and I just feel like I'm "over" them, I feel a bit dated when I'm wearing them.

What style jeans is everyone wearing now, which are your favourites please?!

Why say it then? If you’re have no idea if someone needs to lose weight.

Would you like care to explain the joke because I’m not getting what bit was funny?

I am very chilled thanks. You are the one going iff on one, making bitchy comments to strangers online over your favourite jeans shape Confused. You ok hun? Maybe you need to take a chill pill babies?

IllNeverLetGoJack · 25/03/2021 09:29

And on a thread where op was only asking for help choosing an alternative jeans shape. Think you need to step away from the S&B board @mollycoddle77. You seem a little sensitive.

Anastar23 · 25/03/2021 09:31

Any of the m and s ones good for a big mum tum? 5 weeks pp but would love to be out of maternity jeans, my pre pregnancy jeans fit but are soooooo right they leave awful red marks on my tummy but fit everywhere else 🙈
The sienna and Sophia jeans look lovely

mollycoddle77 · 25/03/2021 09:32

Wow listen to yourselves, mean girls. I'm out don't worry.

IllNeverLetGoJack · 25/03/2021 09:33

The Sienna jeans have a good bit of stretch in them @Anastar23. I have a post CS tummy and find them really comfy. There is something much nicer about not having ones ankles firmly encased as well, from a comfort, as well as fashion perspective.

IllNeverLetGoJack · 25/03/2021 09:34

Aw I was just JOKING @mollycoddle77. Chill out!

LeaveMyDamnJam · 25/03/2021 09:36

I only wear skinny or skinny flare. I’m a size 8 but also hourglass so many other styles don’t suit me. What I do do though is always wear a long top/shirt with them. Anything else looks carroty in my mind.
I have just bought some All Saint skinnies and they are v comfortable.

elastamum · 25/03/2021 09:38

I am wearing sosandar slim mom jeans after I couldn't bear to put my skinnies on again. Very comfy and look OK on me.

LeaveMyDamnJam · 25/03/2021 09:38

Oh bloody hell I’ve just read the rest of the thread. I’m not trying to get involved. I’m just saying what suits me.

Backs out slowly >>>>>>>

Anastar23 · 25/03/2021 10:17

@IllNeverLetGoJack thank you

GeidiPrimes · 25/03/2021 10:27

I recently bought a pair of slim mom jeans (mika) from Weekday and am really chuffed with them. Nice quality too.

LibertyMole · 25/03/2021 11:55

If people like skinnies, they will find a way of wearing them.

Despite not having been alive at the time, I have always loved the late sixties to early seventies look. While flares have been totally out of fashion, I have gone for boots and mini skirts instead. As soon as flares came back, I was all over them like a rash.

Anyone who loves that 2005ish look will wear their skinnies or something else from that period and make it look good because that is their thing. And they will look stylish because they know their look.

Just as my mum who has a love for the early sixties still looks great with a bob.

LibertyMole · 25/03/2021 11:57

That said, I don’t think I can give up my Breton, which is the top equivalent of the skinny Jean.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, chill woman. She wasn't trying to steal your first born ffs. It was quite obviously just a joke. Not a ha ha hilarious joke but obviously just a quip.
IllNeverLetGoJack · 25/03/2021 12:32

It was bitchy and weird. OP wanted recommendations for new jeans shapes, not bitchy comments about her weight, even if it is a "joke". The weird thing is, that poster was the weirdly angsty one. OP asked her very calmly what she said it for and the poster went all "chill OUT, it's just a joke, [sarcastic] thumbs up" etc. So, if anyone needs to chill, it's the poster getting her sexy, skintight pants in a twist imo.

IndecentFeminist · 25/03/2021 12:33

I wear a version of a Breton most days. 🤷

IllNeverLetGoJack · 25/03/2021 12:34

And as I already said, I'll be hanging on to my pair of skinnies. Also love breton, so meh. You don't have to be super fashionable, but then, don't be a dick if someone says you aren't being super fashionable.

KitchenFairy · 25/03/2021 13:27

@Popsy321 Quips are supposed to be witty aren’t they?

Have you got any contribution to add about what type of jeans you like as I’ve had some great suggestions so far and that’s what the thread is supposed to be about?

If not AIBU is that way >>>

@IllNeverLetGoJack i posted a thread about how to dress better for the school run and got great advice including leather leggings etc. Then someone put something about leggings being lazy and added the comment 'make an effort'. I think some people are socially awkward generally and think they are funny but just come across bitchy or weird.

Brandaris · 25/03/2021 14:34

@Anastar23 I bought the Sophia jeans yesterday, they are snug around my 11 week postpartum mum tum but they can’t be too bad as I’m off to go get another pair...

LibertyMole · 25/03/2021 14:38

Indecent, Bretons are just so nice that I can’t step away from them.

But once my entire pub quiz team all turned up in some version of a Breton (not deliberately) and we looked ridiculous.

Can Bretons just be considered a classic?

Eesha · 25/03/2021 14:56

@Brandaris my Sophias are coming tomorrow so can't wait to try them out

Angelica789 · 25/03/2021 15:10

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow Yes I wondered that if as jeans went looser the tops would get tighter again as we had in the 90s (thinking All Saints here!) but while I’ve seen this a little bit it seems generally the looser tops have stayed but they’re now worn cropped which gives the waist some definition. Personally this style really suits me so I’m happy about it.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 25/03/2021 15:14

Yeah cropped and lose.

Although in the 90’s l words grungy baggy tops and bag jeans. But that’s the whole oversized thing that’s currently going off.

The waist has lost emphasis for years. The emphasis transferred to the legs. But now the waist has reappeared (tops started getting tucked in again a few years ago), the emphasis has gone off legs and back to the waist.
