Are these cool/old lady/something else?

I saw these sandals last summer and loved them, but then thought they might in actual fact be awful and old lady like, but I am back looking at them again and cannot tell what they actually look like.

What do you think?

Old lady - I'm 27 if that helps

Achillislandsands · 23/02/2021 13:31

Mm maybe not my style. But I bet they are comfy and well made

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 23/02/2021 13:32

Cool but I'm 45 so a right old fart Grin

If you're long of leg they'll look lovely with a tan and perfectly fitting/length shorts.

FuckingFabulous · 23/02/2021 13:32

Old lady AF.

I'm 37, a lover of antique and vintage fashion, and I think that the average 80 year old would like these summer shoes. They look comfy.

magicstar1 · 23/02/2021 13:33

Definitely old lady....my nana would have loved them

AndreaMarteau · 23/02/2021 13:34

I'm 45 and they look old lady to me, sorry. Partly the design and partly the colour.

On the other hand, I had some similar when I was pregnant and they were the comfiest sandals I've ever had (and the only ones I could get on my hugely swollen feet).

BramStoker · 23/02/2021 13:35

Definitely old lady vibes (and I'm 46 so not young)

I prefer less fabric in a sandals. If that much of my foot is going to be covered then I may as well wear a shoe!

I'm sure they're very comfy though Wink

crazyontheweekend · 23/02/2021 13:40

Agree with the above and I’m early 40s.

Sandals should have waaaay less material.

Wandavision · 23/02/2021 13:45

I instantly think 'comfy!' so that probably puts them into the old lady category. I wouldn't want to spend £100 on them, but would probably appreciate them on holiday if I was spending time walking to shops, over hilly terrain sightseeing. I'm 40.

Time40 · 23/02/2021 13:47

They're a tiny bit old lady, but only a tiny bit. I don't think sandals look really old lady unless they fasten with Velcro!

FreshFaceTime · 23/02/2021 13:47

I was going to say old lady which probably means they're super-cool but it appears that others are in agreement! Probably really comfy though. I agree with the poster who said if you have that much foot covered you might as well wear shoes 😁

Purplecatshopaholic · 23/02/2021 13:48

Late 40s here and those are old lady AF. Sorry!

Guidebutton · 23/02/2021 13:49

I'm 50 and I think they look comfy. I'd wear them, but I wouldn't be kidding myself that they had any attributes except being comfy and not too bad to look at.

Spied · 23/02/2021 13:51

I really like them. I don't think they are old lady and I wear similar ( although I'm 40- so maybe I'm 'old lady'Confused)

Floisme · 23/02/2021 13:52

Well thank you at least for your candour in admitting you think it's impossible for old ladies to be cool - and that's without unpicking the 'awful'. Most posters are less direct.

No I'm not keen. I don't mind the style so much, but dislike the colour and the white sole.

ParkheadParadise · 23/02/2021 13:55

Sorry it's a NO from me but they look comfy🤷‍♀️

stealthninjamum · 23/02/2021 13:55

I’m late 40s and I quite like them, I would say op that if you keep looking at them then clearly there’s something about them you like, just buy them and make sure the rest of your clothes are fabulous.

PrinceRogersNelson · 23/02/2021 14:00

Thanks everyone. Of course old ladies can be cool, and if they were they clearly wouldn't be wearing these sandals!

I have some similar ones made by fit flops but they are darker and darker soled.
I had so many compliments when I wore them last summer, from all ages. I am 42. Maybe they look better on?

I have these. To be honest I think they look pretty ugly in the photo!!

Thesheerrelief · 23/02/2021 14:03

I like them! Am 40 so maybe they wouldn't look cool on me

chipsandgin · 23/02/2021 14:04

Hmm, old lady (& I’m 49). I think if you are a willowy 21 year old wearing edgy clothes with these on your feet in an ironic manner they could look cool (but I’m clueless and that ship sailed a long time ago..).

Otherwise I would expect them to be worn with loose elasticated waist beige slacks whilst rushing round M&S in the midst of a ‘sweaty top lip menopausal hot flush’ (a look I rock on a frequent basis these days but am not accessorising with slacks or old lady sandals just yet...give it time).

Bythemillpond · 23/02/2021 14:04

Old lady (I am in my 50s)

RealisticSketch · 23/02/2021 14:05

I think it would depend on your figure and the rest of the outfit you put it with.

Just musing why "old lady" is synonymous with uncool around here. I know old ladies whose style I would love to emulate! I also see young people who aren't my idea of stylish. I'm 40. Hoping to grow into a stylish old lady one day.

I don't particularly like those sandals fwiw. But I think comfy actually = cool in sandal world these days.
