Are these cool/old lady/something else?

I saw these sandals last summer and loved them, but then thought they might in actual fact be awful and old lady like, but I am back looking at them again and cannot tell what they actually look like.

What do you think?

I like them! I’m 37 and think they’d look lovely with the right outfit

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/02/2021 18:24

I like them. The 'old lady' thing on here is ridiculous and insulting though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/02/2021 18:26

I can imagine them being worn by beautiful young women in Berlin or Copenhagen or Amsterdam.

janlevinson · 24/02/2021 18:46

Now I've seen them on feet I'm thinking I actually love them. Might even buy them. I'd class myself as a follower of trends.

Sleepthief · 24/02/2021 18:47

@PrinceRogersNelson will do 👍🏻

Sleepthief · 24/02/2021 18:52

The thing I always find on here (love it though I do) is that many posters can't imagine others having different taste to them. I'm a lover of clothes and can admire my friends who have a very different dress sense to me, but the clothes I love may not be the clothes the next poster loves. I read the French chic threads and think 🤷‍♀️ or princessing etc. Noone would accuse me of being minimalist or chic, but I look good and get loads of compliments and people asking for style advice, regardless of their own personal taste... one Mumsnetter's trash is another mumsnetter's treasure!

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit

Where do you draw the line between ageism and the simple truth that nobody wants to look like an old lady, that's just factual. It's daft to suggest otherwise.
You'll probably get pelted with prunes for having the audacity to point out the obvious. Grin
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/02/2021 19:11

Everybody will look like an old lady at some point unless they are a) an old man or b) dead.

thesecretvoter · 24/02/2021 19:27

I'm 62 and they're too old for me!!Grin

nancy75 · 24/02/2021 19:42

I don’t think every one will look like an old lady, I don’t think old ladies like my Nan was really exist anymore (unless already 80+ and already there)
I look at my mum (66) and her friends (60-75) and none of them look anything like as old as my nan did in her 40’s.
My mum would chop her own head off before she’d have a perm & a blue rinse!

TheScurrilousFunge · 24/02/2021 20:05

Old lady.

The website you've linked to is proudly saying that 2401 people have viewed those sandals in the last day. If only they knew that loads of them are linked from this thread Grin

TimeQuest01 · 24/02/2021 20:10

What about these, won’t offer as much support though

Ironfloor269 · 24/02/2021 20:12

Old lady indeed. In my mind's eye, they are paired up with skin coloured diabetic socks.

Lovemusic33 · 24/02/2021 20:13

I like them and I’m 39, they are very similar to a pair I have been looking at from the art company (not as expensive as UGG), I wear flat sandals and dress a bit hippy, I don’t think they are ‘old lady’ though I guess it depends what you wear with them.

Floisme · 24/02/2021 20:14

I'm sure I look just as old to a 4 year-old as my great aunt did to me when I was that age. My clothes may be different and I enjoy getting dressed as much as I ever did, but I still bet a child would suss me out pretty quickly. In real life I think very few of us look more than 5 years younger than we are.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 24/02/2021 20:15

My 83 year old mum has a penchant for shoes like this and I have to have a word with her

They are to nothingy to look cool even on a slim edgy wisp of a Gen Z

Lelophants · 24/02/2021 20:16

Old lady. I love them.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 24/02/2021 20:18

I am very much in the it ain't what you wear it's the way that you wear it camp. And I don't think there is anything wrong with looking like an old lady, especially if you are one.

But these are just very bland and unstylish shoes.

DailyCandy · 24/02/2021 20:18

They're hideous.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/02/2021 20:55

Those Boden ones are pretty much exactly the same as a pair I had in about 1977. I loved them then and don't dislike them now, but they are a very different kind of vibe to the Uggs, which are (I think) aiming at a funky Scandinavian-esque vibe. The Boden ones are more Swallows and Amazons or Anne in the Famous Five imo.

LynetteScavo · 24/02/2021 20:58

I quite like them - they have a Danish architect vibe to them- however the on feet pictures are awful

Sleepthief · 27/02/2021 11:53

@PrinceRogersNelson they arrived this morning and I'm definitely keeping them. They're super comfortable without a hint of Radio Times!

CSIblonde · 27/02/2021 12:00

That style top bit but with totally flat or no heel is on trend. The thick soles are the old lady bit. There are loads with no heel on asks etc.

Sleepthief · 27/02/2021 12:11

Very Swedish architect!

PrinceRogersNelson · 27/02/2021 12:19

@Sleepthief Marvellous. Thank you so much. I am glad you like them, I still think they are great and think I will get them to try on with the clothes I wear and see what they're like with my style.
