Are these cool/old lady/something else?

I saw these sandals last summer and loved them, but then thought they might in actual fact be awful and old lady like, but I am back looking at them again and cannot tell what they actually look like.

What do you think?

A bit old lady but also comfy looking. Quite unadorned so edging into cool?

Akasia · 23/02/2021 14:55

Hmm, think they could look cool with a nice pair of skinny jeans and baggy top or a plain t-shirt dress.

Loopyloututu2 · 23/02/2021 14:57

Yuk. Sorry.

rockinaftermidnite · 23/02/2021 14:57

At what point do we become "old", OP?

The sandals are okay. Depends what you wear them with.

WeIcomeToGilead · 23/02/2021 15:00

Horrendously bad - rotund unfriendly 47 year old here
😂

Crunched · 23/02/2021 15:01

I have seen them on a 20 year old (I'm pretty certain they were the same ones, in the Ugg shop at Bicester Village) and they looked the epitome of cool.
However she is a fashion student and looks amazing in most things (friend's daughter doing a summer job).

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 23/02/2021 15:06

My mum wears sandles similar these every day, she has a pair in every colour available, she's early 60s. I personally do think they're more an older person style, probably because my mum wears them 24/7, I've never seen anyone younger than 50 wearing that style. I'm 25 and wouldn't wear them myself.

HiPieInTheSky · 23/02/2021 15:10

if your undecided, why not order them and see what they are like 'in real life' so to speak.

I love shoes (and boots and sandals and everything in between) and sometimes those that you may think twice about can look great on, different shaped feet and size of ankle and so on.

TBH I would not give a monkeys chuff what anyone though as long as I liked them and wear them with what you like, and if they are comfy all the better.

HiPieInTheSky · 23/02/2021 15:10

...thought even

SnarkyBag · 23/02/2021 15:11

If they weren’t Ugg and £100 but were £20 in the Pavers concession at the garden centre would you look twice at them?

HiPieInTheSky · 23/02/2021 15:13

I wear different Birkenstocks in lots of colours but those Tulum are truly awful (apologies if you have some!)

MoltonSilver · 23/02/2021 15:16

They are seriously ugly for any age.

snackmammy · 23/02/2021 15:20

Old lady love x

Spodge · 23/02/2021 17:55

I am early 50s and my mother thinks I love hideous footwear. I suppose I do (devotee of chunky footwear) but those are horrendous in every way. Sorry.

BallsToYouSue · 23/02/2021 17:59

@PrinceRogersNelson

Thanks everyone. Of course old ladies can be cool, and if they were they clearly wouldn't be wearing these sandals!
Yes, I agree with that statement. Old ladies can be cool and tbh, yes, cool old ladies wouldn't wear these! And I (the shame Blush) own Fitflops.
Standrewsschool · 23/02/2021 18:11

The Clark orange ones are so much nicer.
Leith the right outfit, they would look okay, but for everyday use (supermarket shopping etc) not for dressing up. Wouldn’t spend £100 on them though.

Sleepingdogs12 · 23/02/2021 18:18

I think it depends on how you wear them. I like them except for the white sole. I am not a fan of them in black.

AyUpMiDuck · 23/02/2021 18:23

There's an almost identical pair from Clarkes for a lot less £. As someone else said- long tanned legs and great toes = fabulous. Not many people can pull that look off ;-)

NotMeNoNo · 23/02/2021 18:33

It's only the Ugg Kari sandals with a heel strap, I can't see why that suddenly makes them go from cool to "old-lady".

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 23/02/2021 18:34

They aren't to my taste but like most things l think it depends how you style them. With a long flowy boho dress or a mini might look good. Floral shirt dress and a little hand bag over your arm? Queen Mother.

Jocasta2018 · 23/02/2021 18:35

A little bit old lady to me as well!

KirstenBlest · 23/02/2021 18:38

They are fine. A couple of decades ago DN after no seeing for a while looked at my feet and said Grandma's got shoes like those.
I was horrified.

I had several compliments on them. They were Scholl's that looked a lot like birkenstock milano.

longtompot · 23/02/2021 18:45

I'm 49 and I quite like them. I prefer the brown to the black due to the white soles.
I think the fitflop ones someone above posted the link for are ugly, but I don't really like heels so that might be why.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 23/02/2021 18:49

I think it's the white sole that makes them so horrid, the chunky strap/cross over is fine, but that sole screams nasty!

endlesswicker · 23/02/2021 18:50

Old lady, and I'm not far off 60 and have many pairs of frumpy sandals
