@Laska2Meryls thank you Flowers

Another one here in my chalkboard dress today, also with hooped earrings although tortoiseshell in my case. Black opaque and sheepskin scuffs on my feet, less glamorous than boots I fear... love the idea of wearing boots at home. My feet will be tucked under my desk all day as I dive into a sea of Phone, Zoom and Teams calls, so won’t be seen!
Have a fab day fellow Toasties, I’ve just had a Royal Mail notification of my Anya cord shirt and a dispatch note for the slate needle cord dress.

Laska2Meryls · 13/01/2021 09:58

amethyst. Possibly a utter style no no, but have you thought of the sheepskin indoor slipper boots from Celt and co?

Just checking into the new thread. Still reading every night in bed, but as I’m still living in my parents house to nurse my dad, I’m not really posting. I’ve been wearing Lucy and yak cord dungarees a lot and my mum absolutely hates them, so I feel I’ve regressed 50 years to being a stroppy teen wearing Clothes My Mum Hates and finding doing so oddly satisfying.

Saurus72 · 13/01/2021 10:12

Ha @AmethystMoonShine it’s literally the first day in months when I haven’t sat at my desk wearing my giant furry slippers so this is a one day appearance only. I felt so beaten down by work at the end of yesterday that I thought I should do something to lift my spirits! Your tortoise shell hoops sound fabulous.

ilovecherries · 13/01/2021 10:17

I loved the chalkboard dress to look at - and it looks lovely on all of you - but I couldn’t get it to fasten round my waist. Went up to a 14 but even then it was pulling horribly round my middle and falling off my shoulders.

Just marking the page. A bit busy with work atm!!
Will read your chat later :)

Hello shiny new thread! And thanks (can't remember who now) for the chalkboard dress info. I looked at the photo pf the person wearing it on Toast - which only served to remind me how completely useful that facility is! - and realised that it's the same shape as a few Toast dresses which don't work with my shape - too tight on the chest or too huge everywhere else - so am giving it a miss

I was so annoyed to miss out on almost everything I tried to buy yesterday, and bloody toast had another 'issue' and aren't able to honour my order of the linen delave trousers - grr. So today I am still looking for a couple more things - and I have the cotton gansey being delivered, and picking up the lilac boy tee.

I think we all agree that Toast has issues - some of which are pandemic related - which this lovely thread has done much to remedy - honestly I'm so grateful to you all for sharing your stuff - how it fits, how it looks etc.

I'm also of the opinion that in these interesting times we should give people a bit of sympathetic leeway - like I do to the man who lives nearby and has a drum kit set up in his garage where he practices at increasingly odd times of the day and night with the door open. Even though I sometimes want to go and slam the bloody door shut myself!

The tortoise shell hoops, I got them in the shop at the V&A last year..... I miss my V& A trips Sad

*Faustina yes you are right, I take back my Granny outfit dig above.. Apologies..
Were the Delave XS? That might have been me! Although I haven't had a dispatch notification yet... If they arrive and Im not keeping then I will let you know ..

faustina · 13/01/2021 11:38

@Laska2Meryls - yes they were!!!! hahaha - yes please do let me know if they don't fit!

I love that jumper - am seriously thinking of re-buying even though it didn't look as nice as that on me.

Everyone has been so nice on here, it was a bit of a shock yesterday for all of us I think - it just seemed out of character and possibly not really about Toast if you see what I mean?

I have made a rule for myself about not wearing slippers during the day - instead I've been wearing clogs and thick socks - wooden soles are great for protection from cold stone floors - and I just feel a bit better stomping around in them

faustina · 13/01/2021 11:40

@AmethystMoonShine - those earrings are lovely - I miss the V and A too Sad

@Laska2Meryls that’s fatal Grin

AmethystMoonShine · 13/01/2021 11:57

The V& A shop is where I discovered Merchant & Mills dressmaking patterns, and fabrics. My lovely Mum had made me a few very Toast-like dresses since from a patter and fabric I bought Grin

Countmeout · 13/01/2021 12:05

Love those earrings @AmethystMoonShine
Thanks for yet another thread @Laska2Meryls.
Hope the Delaves pop up again for anyone that still wants them. They’re great, have put mine away for summer.
I’m wearing the Annie culottes. M and S long sleeve T though. I have to go out to get a prescription later so have trainers on ( the height of excitement going to the chemist) weather like laska’s although I’m at the other end of the country.
Not bought anything more in the sale but have an eBay purchase coming.

Laska2Meryls · 13/01/2021 12:31

Faustina there's a fisherman's jumper in XS on the Toast site !!

AFingerofFudge · 13/01/2021 12:35

Morning all! @Laska2Meryls thanks for a new, hopefully positive and comforting new thread!

@ilovecherries sorry you're having a tough time right now. Yay to the Lucy & Yak dungarees though!
@faustina thanks for your post at the end of the last thread, it articulated so well some of the feelings I have re the Toast brand.

Templetree · 13/01/2021 14:30

@AmethystMoonShine

I got a huge stash of M&M fabric and patterns in the first lockdown My motto is " Be Prepared" Grin

Im planning to use the Red washed linen top I got in the sale as a pattern / guide for other simple tops.
This is a lovely thread.
I hope we can keep it constructive and pleasant here.

faustina · 13/01/2021 14:55

@Laska2Meryls - thanks for looking out for me. I think an XS would be too fitted though!

@Templetree - I bought a heat gun and stripped my kitchen cupboards when Christmas was cancelled. Now repainting them, but I think I'll be needing another distraction before the spring arrives. Can't sew, but might knit something!

I used to pop into the V and A after school (when it was free) - it was so lovely to feel at home there. The shop is lethal!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 13/01/2021 15:41

Hello, thanks for the new thread, I like the 'spring in your step' title - reminds us that things will start to be better, spring is coming, vaccines are coming...
I avoided all the controversy yesterday but it prompted me to have a look at the background of Toast - interesting story of a small company started by 2 people which has gradually got bigger and now - as far as I could make out - is owned by a large Danish business.
I would like to spend more money with independent small retailers going forward. There was a thread a while back about independent / ethical brands which was worth a look - a few I bookmarked:
Roake
Staple
I do love the Toast Amish midi skirt brogue vibe though I know it is not for everyone. The right Toast item makes me feel both relaxed and pulled together.

I like seeing what others buy - especially as we are all different and suit other things. Eg the dropped waist dress looked heinous on me! And looks so good on the poster whose photo persuaded me to buy it.

I've just ordered the Check Ine dress on JL and the Indigo shirt dress on Toast. Will report back if anyone is intested! Still considering the Ono dress or skirt

Countmeout · 13/01/2021 15:58

@faustina I bought the delave in xs after my experience of the checked culottes. They are fine on me and I am not an xs. I can’t remember what size you are. I have an 8 in the Gabis. A 10 in the Annie culottes. I am bigger on top than bottom.

faustina · 13/01/2021 17:54

@Countmeout - it was actually the other thing I'm stalking that I was worried about the sizing (the fisherman's jumper) - but thank you! I think I remember the picture you posted of the delave trousers? Anyway, I just spotted another pair in XS so am having another go at getting them. Perhaps now @Laska2Meryls has hers, I'll stand a chance! Grin

I think we're probably a similar shape, except I'm a 6 in Gabis and bigger on top - toast small, but I tend to buy t-shirts etc bigger because I dislike fitted

Still hoping the jumper will come back into stock ..
