Ooops sorry !
Thought they were cashmere !

faustina · 16/01/2021 17:59

@Templetree - leather with a cashmere lining. Nothing else stops them from going numb - yes I rotate too! Expensive!

I find its covering my wrists that helps the most as I get Raynauds whatever gloves I wear.
So I wear cashmere recycled wristwarmers then gloves.

faustina · 17/01/2021 19:53

oh that's interesting @Templetree - I find it's my fingers

One final Toast jumper pick up at John Lewis today - the graphic yoke which I actually bought full price and sent back ages ago but it somehow looks much nicer now. Maybe trying on jumpers in September feels wrong - or perhaps because it's now £70 instead of £140? Don't know, but I am very pleased with it! Does anyone else have it?

Its in my fingers but I cover the artery in my wrist which stops it. I also have it in my toes so wear wool or cashmere socks.
faustina · 17/01/2021 21:40

yes I have it in my toes too, but not so badly. I might try the artery covering tomorrow and see if it works - thank you! I'm on meds but they aren't terribly effective

Templetree · 17/01/2021 21:58

Have pmed you @ faustina

Laska2Meryls · 18/01/2021 09:13

Who has Gabi wool trousers? Im pondering!
Still expensive..
Did JL have them in their sale?

The Slate needle cord dress is a keeper. The 10 fits well at the top and well placed pleats at the back mean it falls in a flattering way, this avoiding the ‘ship in full sail’ look!

Beautiful @AmethystMoonShine - really flattering and lovely colour. Good start to Monday!

faustina · 18/01/2021 10:11

@AmethystMoonShine - that looks lovely!
@Laska2Meryls - I think jL did have them very early this morning, though I can't 100% remember

applecatchers36 · 18/01/2021 10:17

Amethyst very stylish and chic dress

Laska the wool Gabi's are really comfy can wear to work, smart but also comfy and warm. Wear mine a lot. The only thing is they are a bit cropped and think you are tall, well quite a bit taller than me so it will depend on how you feel about this?

Laska2Meryls · 18/01/2021 10:49

Thanks applecatcher I was wandering that, as now I am no longer working - and dont go anywhere much to wear formal clothes even post covid (oh happy day!!). So perhaps they wont be really suitable for my actual life. The cord Gabis were a bit short and I took them down, .. .. Well I will see ..I have scratched the itch anyway ..

OP posts:
Countmeout · 18/01/2021 11:43

I thought they might be itchy and they’re dry clean .

Laska2Meryls · 18/01/2021 12:12

Yes 🤔 . ..Its more whether I will actually wear them , given that I dont go to office any longer.. I can imagine wearing them for nice lunches etc.. but then , its been so long..Covid means that I haven't really had a chance to discover what actually may be my non working lifestyle!!
Actually drycleaning labels have never put me off washing things !!

Post-COVID lifestyle is really difficult to imagine for me so it really must be doubly so if you’ve had a big life change at the same time. I really don’t know the way I’d like my life to be when the world opens up again! Pre-lockdown I commuted to central London every day to an ok but nowhere near my dream job. I think my employer are very open to continued homeworking which is great so for the first time in my life (mid-40s) I’m starting to think about designing my life as a whole. Would I prefer to stay in a job that is a bit boring but will allow that for flexibility or would I prefer to start a job search and going into more of a work-life unknown entity. Loads to think about tbh - and had a realisation that I am unlikely to need to buy any work clothes or shoes for about 10 years...! Sorry, off-topic but I’m thinking quite a lot about it atm.

ilovecherries · 18/01/2021 13:39

I'm trying to think of a post covid life as well - and ignore all the doomsayers who say it will never happen! Before covid I was self employed so although I did do a lot of WFH at least twice a week I went to big cities for meetings. Business I spent years building up all just collapsed over 48 hours. I had been thinking about fully retiring anyway, as my DH retired just before lockdown, and we were off to travel the world (well, Europe!) for a year before Brexit. The last 4 months nursing my dad in isolation I've gone completely to hell. I'm clean is about all I can say. At the moment, I can't even imagine doing something like going out for lunch, or a coffee, a glass of wine, theatre.

Saurus72 · 18/01/2021 14:01

48 hours to collapse - wow, the speed of change has been mesmerising. I just keep thinking that once things change usually they don’t go back to how they were, they continue from the point at which they restart. I agree, really difficult to think about just booking a table in a restaurant - we used to eat out around 3 times a week, whereas I would estimate we’ve gone to 5 restaurants in the past 10 months. Unimaginable.

ilovecherries · 18/01/2021 15:10

Business consultancy, saurus. Every contract cancelled between the morning of the 19 and the evening of the 20th March.

Saurus72 · 18/01/2021 16:06

God, it’s terrifying. I understand the initial knee-jerk reaction as everyone turned to survival mode but a real shame it hasn’t recovered.

Well, my longed-for wrap dress arrived (this one www.toa.st/uk/product/all+sale/c1pfa/bloom+print+wrap+dress.htm ) and it’s one of the worst things I’ve ever tried from Toast. The fabric felt so cheap, honestly like something you’d find on the 70% off sale rack at Monsoon. Plus very poorly fitting at the top - couldn’t take a photo as it was indecent. Going straight back, how they ever could have thought it was worth £220 is beyond me. I wouldn’t pay £40 for it.

But! At least I tried it and now I know - Toast wrap dresses are not for me. Think my sale shopping is done now with the exception of stalking bargain cashmere from JL.

applecatchers36 · 18/01/2021 16:48

ilovecherries sorry to hear about your business that sounds awful to cope with on top of having to look after your Dad later in the year 💐, what a year. Makes me think of that phrase about all being in the same storm but in different boats.
Hope that once the world opens again you and your DH can get back in touch with your travelling plans...

faustina · 18/01/2021 17:51

@ilovecherries - sending a sympathetic toast-themed hug (so probably something hand-loomed Smile ) I was also supposed to be heading off to various European places last year. Looking on the bright side, at least when we can head off, we will do so with a much nicer wardrobe !

@Saurus72 what a shame about the dress. That print is so lovely!

AuldFox · 19/01/2021 13:55

saurus

You’ve thoroughly put me off that dress now, so sincere thanks for your review!

ilovecherries that sucks big time. I’m really sorry about your business and your poor dad to look after as well. When it rains, it pours. Here’s to brighter days in the near future Wine Flowers
