Space NK 2020 Advent Calendar Thread

Puffler · 30/11/2020 19:06

Hi,

I normally get the M&S calendar but went for the Beauty Anthology II from Space NK this year. Would be great to share the openings, discuss the products and do any swaps with anyone else with this one.

Please only discuss current day or previous days to avoid spoilers for people

I think it is fair to say you can post about the current day from 7am so people know to avoid the thread after that time if they haven’t opened yet.

Looking forward to this!

I've been trying to learn skin care this year as a pandemic distraction. Google is my friend!

At some point I will sit with the contents and work it all out in case some stuff can't be used together.

petitdonkey · 17/12/2020 17:21

Thank you @MiaN- wasn’t sure if it would be vitamin c overload!

For others wanting to learn about skincare I’d highly recommend Sali Hughes Guardian columns. Caroline Hirons is great too but I find it all more complicated! I am 45 and have seen a huge difference just by using a vitamin c in the morning before cleansing snd a retinol at night (but not every night for me)

MiaN · 18/12/2020 07:07

I really like watching Dr Dray (andrea) she is dermatologist, angie from hot and flashy, naddine baggot.

ashmts · 18/12/2020 07:53

AB Rich Cream today, another high value product. I had forgotten this was in here, this was one of the products that seemed to be doing the rounds with the calendars this year. The packaging is lovely and I'll use it so I'm pleased with this.

Tried the IGK hair mask last night. The main issue I had was I wasn't sure how much to put on. I'm not overwhelmed by the results or anything but my hair is soft and not greasy so I'll keep using it.

RazorstormUnicorn · 18/12/2020 07:57

This morning's is the most gorgeous looking product I've ever seen!

From the poem I think it's another night cream but there's no info on the product on how/when to apply. I don't care. It can just sit on shelf and look beautiful

MiaN · 18/12/2020 07:58

I like it and I have few of them now as there was one in every advent I bought this year. My skin is combo and I find for my skin it's the equivalent of overnight mask - I don't need anything else when using it and my skin is lovely when I wake up

ashmts · 18/12/2020 08:21

@MiaN I just put it on as my skin has been quite dry but it's definitely a night cream for me, it's so rich (clue was in the name really) and I think it would be more of a mask for me too. Feels more hydrating than the Drunk Elephant. I did have to use a fair amount of product, it didn't spread very easily.

Puppermint · 18/12/2020 10:57

I had a look online and it seems today's can be used morning and night. I slapped it on in my usual fashion and have to say it's really lovely and moisturising, but I do have quite dry skin.

Offredismysister · 18/12/2020 20:18

I used a small amount of the rich cream this morning & let it soak in. I then put my make up on top. As the day wore on my make up looked worse & worse, not greasy at all but just awful.
I think If I put this on in the morning I won’t wear make up over it.

MiaN · 19/12/2020 07:28

I loved and used every single drop of today's item. Unfortunately opening this adent in October and loving it so much means it is all gone by now but it was a real treat for me!

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did

Puppermint · 19/12/2020 07:39

Today's is lovely, very pleased indeed. I had a little test and can't stop smelling myself Grin

After a few years of the Look Fantastic calendar and more sparkly highlighter than a woman in her mid 40s should ever need, this has been such a treat. I don't want it to end!

MiaN · 19/12/2020 08:02

I tried the IDK mask. The smell is so nice, I would buy perfume with that smell too

chillibeansauce · 19/12/2020 08:04

My skin is very glowy at the moment, unfortunately as I've been trialling most of the gifts I'm not sure which products are making me glow ! It may also be due to my ongoing divorce or maybe just a combination of both. I've been using pomegranate noir for soooo long and am very happy to have potentially found a new fragrance today ! I tried the Bader cream last night and my skin feels very soft.

Offredismysister · 19/12/2020 08:59

This is one of the reasons I bought this calendar. I have sprayed this on in the shop before & liked the scent, but didn’t want to pay £115 for a bottle. It’ll be nice to smell it hours later & on clothes etc.

Ponks · 19/12/2020 09:11

Reading this thread makes me wish I'd gone for the Space NK calendar, it sounds great!

ashmts · 19/12/2020 11:22

So I put today's on and wasn't keen, was reading your posts wondering why everyone was raving about it. But now it's had a chance to settle it's lovely! Really like this. Shame a full size is so expensive Grin

RazorstormUnicorn · 19/12/2020 16:43

I have got the perfume on and quite relieved I don't love it considering the price! I will definitely finish it as its reasonably nice which is good.

I used the dry shampoo after the gym earlier and whilst there was no major transformation it definitely looked a bit better for it so I can hold off washing until after my run tomorrow.

carlywurly · 19/12/2020 19:23

I am so enjoying this calendar. Everything has been lovely so far and such generous sizes. Today's perfume is gorgeous.

OdeToAutumn · 19/12/2020 23:22

I am really pleased with the calendar! It’s been a good mix of products and all stuff I would use. I had Liberty last year and I think I prefer this one

chillibeansauce · 20/12/2020 07:23

I've got this one and the H&B one and have found them to really complement each other oddly ! A really nice varied mix.

MiaN · 20/12/2020 07:32

I am really happy I tried Liberty this year as I love advent calendars and it's one of the first. I really wanted the experience at least once and there are some really good products in it but I am not sure I would buy it again. I only bought it as my birthday is in September and I got the Space NK as birthday present, it wasn't a choice between one or the other.

If i have to make choice between Space NK and Liberty I will go for Space NK personally but they are both great.

Today is little predictable. I wonder is it the product reformulated or just new package? I have old version I will compare.

Puffler · 20/12/2020 08:08

So happy with today’s! I really love this calendar, it’s been such a good mix and some lovely generous sized products.

I normally have the M&S one but even taking the price difference into account, this is much better. I’m glad they didn’t do one this year, I’m not going back!

I’m a blusher gal, I don’t use bronzer at all so this will go on the swaps pile. I am impressed with this calendar, my favourite things so far are the drunk elephant, the Kate Somerville, the rich cream, the perfume & the mascara.

I had Look fantastic last year & Liberty the year before. Look fantastic was ok for the price & I love Liberty for the box, but I didn’t get it this year as the contents looked similar to when I had it before.

Offredismysister · 20/12/2020 08:50

And I forgot to say I love the Kevyn Aucoin palette.
Ive perfected the look in 5 mins thanks to the 2nd YouTube video earlier in the thread.

It stays on all day with no creasing & I had lots of compliments yesterday.

MiaN · 20/12/2020 09:28

I love the palette most too, it's fab. But I also like the DE overnight mask, the generous size bath oil, the hair mask will be used, the mascara works great for me and the self tan too. I like that there are full size products. The rich cream too. A lot to like really!
