Space NK 2020 Advent Calendar Thread

Hi,

I normally get the M&S calendar but went for the Beauty Anthology II from Space NK this year. Would be great to share the openings, discuss the products and do any swaps with anyone else with this one.

Please only discuss current day or previous days to avoid spoilers for people

I think it is fair to say you can post about the current day from 7am so people know to avoid the thread after that time if they haven’t opened yet.

Looking forward to this!

What's the verdict on the self-tan? I'm a bit meh but that's probably cos I've not used fake tan all year, what's the point? Any other December I probably would. My only complaint is putting it in on the 13th December. And a Sunday! Surely people would have already been at Christmas parties this weekend so it would have been better to put it in week 1.

@petitdonkey I've been following the Liberty opening this year and it doesn't look anywhere near as good as Space NK. Think I now know what in day 24... If we can keep spoilers to a minimum, thanks.

I've been lurking too - I have this one and the H&B one - they both really complement each other. Love today's. I'm pasty faced and legged so can't wait to try this one. Love all the new products I wouldn't normally ever purchase. Tried the mascara from a few days ago and a convert!

Yeah I agree, I think this chapter should have been the first one personally. I also didn't bother with self tan all year but started again with st tropez as I really need little pick me ups this Christmas, even if stuck at home, I want to feel glam and make an effort.

Yesterday I showered using the eve lom on my face, the olaplex on my hair, then I put a full face of make up on including the hourglass face powder & the Laura Mercier mascara. Then I went Xmas shopping. It felt good to look good.

I’ve not heard of today’s but will try it.

I am bit mixed about day 1 to 13 but I know things change by the end of this advent!

I don't like the Ren tonner and I gifted it. I don't use dry shampoo and also gifted it. I don't really use separate HA serums so that was bit of a meh for me too

I already have few products that are absolutely love - PC BHA and the hourglass powder. They are fab, but I just have them in full size

The cleanser capsules and fake tan I feel are for travel, and no sign of that for now but hopefully next year things will be different. It's nice to dream for trip on the sun

I have not tried the hair mask or the body wash but interested in both as well as the olaplex hair oil

The mascara is surprising hit and something I am may purchase.

I love the DE mask the bath oil and very likely to purchase both

I like that there are good variety between makeup, skincare, hair care and bodycare. It's my first time buying Liberty and I kept it for opening in December. I am enjoying it a lot but could be once and done for me. I am most likely going to continue buying Space NK advent and it's my 3rd year in row. I love how bright the boxes are and the little poems are so cheesy but cute.

I also like that there are some high end brands like barbara strum that is out of my price range but others like the bath oil and the drunk elephant mask that are affordable and in this way I can discover things I can afford to buy when I run out

That's very thoughtful, I guess if I were planning to open it in January I just wouldn't seek out threads centred around these calendars. However, I also like to peek in some of the boxes ahead of time and am also using one of the boxes intended for later as didn't want to wait !

Chillibean! Thank you! I could enjoyed any number of gifts throughout December- body lotion, candle, scent, fake tan, moisturiser, makeup palette.... I don’t think anyone buys one of these totally blind to the contents...!

I’m blind to the contents! I asked my sister to choose the one she thought I’d like best. I only knew it had Olaplex in it as it was something I really wanted to try and she said it was in this one.

I’m not a fan of self tan - too many orange attempts as a teen. This was the first product I’m dubious if I will use it.

@MiaN I'm finding the REN toner brilliant (which I wasn't expecting) but don't think the Drunk Elephant is any better than my normal Simple moisturiser. Funny how we're all different. I tried the Hourglass powder today, I've been wanting to try it for ages cos I've heard such good things but it was a bit disappointing. Maybe too subtle for me. I like the Olaplex. Haven't tried the bath oil yet but excited to try it out after the rave reviews. Also good to hear you think that it gets even better from here on!

That Ren RSG is so popular and loved and so many feel DE are simple and on the boring side! I use prescription strength tretinoin and as such simple products without too many active ingredients suit me. I probably will really enjoy your simple moisturizer too.

I just don't get on great with citrus oils with Ren have 5 of the listed in RSG

Hourglass if finishing powder, and you should compare to other finishing powders - not to highlighter. It is subtle effect, for (my) aging skin it's powder but it does not look dry when applied and it doesn't feel nearly creamy on. I have few of their 6 pan palettes and few mini

I'm not bothered by yesterday's or today's tanning products. I am really pale and can't be bothered to try and change that.

I think these two will be in swops pile, though I can't really see a thread in here? Otherwise I might sell them in eBay.

Pleased it's taken until halfway through to get to things I'm interested in. That's a good hit ratio I think.

I'm not a big one for fake tan usually as I'm quite pale but I put some of yesterday's on my face and got told I was looking 'well' on the school run this morning. I know that's usually code for fat on MN but I'll take it to mean I have a bit of a glow about me Grin even though I am fat too

Today's smells lovely too. I will keep it for if I ever get to go on holiday again not much point when I'm living in hoodies and leggings

Today’s glory lotion just made me 😭 for all the holidays I would normally use it on... let’s hope I get to show off some tanned, shimmery legs next year.
When I first tried the hourglass, my face didn’t look any different in the bathroom mirror, so I put a bit more on and a bit more... when I checked myself in the car mirror out in the daylight, I definitely looked lit from within... maybe a bit too glowy!

@Puppermint you’ve actually convinced me to try it, I’ll let you know how I get on. I’m terrified of turning orange.

Not enthused by today’s, I can’t see myself using it but I might feel differently in the summer.

I decided to try to face self tan serum i have from the same brand form last year after the glowing reviews last night but need more daylight to see the result properly

I have been using it since October as I the space NK advent was my birthday gift and it's really fantastic
Great colours, perfect balance between cool and neturals, blend like dream, makeup lasts all day long and it's so easy to go from day to night! I still have 10 more days of Liberty advent to open but this has been my favourite finding in the 3 advent calendars I have this year.

One of my favourites from last year was KA sculpt duo form Space NK so super happy to try more.

Love today's, I always like to find a good nude palette. This was one of the products I saw listed that tempted me to Space NK over Cult Beauty. Intrigued by the liquid tube thing, I'll need to watch those videos later to see if it shows how to use it. It looks like they suggest you use it with the powder eyeshadow but wouldn't that just go gooey?

I’m so impressed with this calendar- don’t think there have been any duds for me.
@Puffler- I am also very pale and tried two pumps of the fake tan on my face and neck- such a lovely colour! My daughter said ‘wow! Did you sleep well?’!!
