Space NK 2020 Advent Calendar Thread

Puffler · 30/11/2020 19:06

Hi,

I normally get the M&S calendar but went for the Beauty Anthology II from Space NK this year. Would be great to share the openings, discuss the products and do any swaps with anyone else with this one.

Please only discuss current day or previous days to avoid spoilers for people

I think it is fair to say you can post about the current day from 7am so people know to avoid the thread after that time if they haven’t opened yet.

Looking forward to this!

ashmts · 07/12/2020 09:21

I don't particularly like the smell of this but it's getting good reviews. Does it smell better when diluted in the bath?

RazorstormUnicorn · 07/12/2020 11:09

@MiaN yes I am loving the opportunity to try the expensive brands. I almost hope I don't love them! Grin
@ashmts ithe bath oil from today is not my favourite smell either

Offredismysister · 07/12/2020 12:41

It smells nice enough. But, I’ll pass this on as my bath takes hours to fill.

doadeer · 07/12/2020 15:14

I wasn't sold on Drunk Elephant, how much does it retail for?

I've been interested in Barbara Strum for a while as it's so pricey... It was nice but I didn't notice a huge impact but I'll try a few more times.

I always use the make up items as gifts for my mum and my dad's wife as I don't wear much make up. It's great as it's always lovely quality!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 07/12/2020 15:20

Is this very olivey? I can't do olive smells after being stuck on holiday with pregnancy nausea and the Petit Marsellaise olive oil liquid soap to use. Just triggers me!

Puppermint · 07/12/2020 17:59

Bit disappointed by today's as I don't like baths, so wasted on me. Think I'll add it to my secret Santa gift, unless it's really expensive shuffles off to google

doadeer · 07/12/2020 21:29

I had a lovely bath with the oil, it's really strong smelling but I love it

MiaN · 08/12/2020 05:54

I was watching videos on skin care trends for 2020 and the doctor mentioned that BHA/salicylic acid is more for combination oily skin and lactic for dry. I think this is spot on for me and that's why I can use both but not in the same time. My skin is combination and when it's bit oilier or on oilier part of my face I use Paula's Choice BHA and on drier skin days I prefer lactic acid.

I am mentioning it here as there were some questions on having to acid toners at the start of the advent. Yes they are both acid but both have different purpose.

MiaN · 08/12/2020 07:01

Looking forward trying the bonding oil. I really like olapex 0 and 3, happy to try 6

Dailyhandtowelwash · 08/12/2020 09:01

I keep meaning to buy olaplex as I like it when my hairdresser uses it, but get confused by numbers. Which number does what? I have a Cult Beauty credit that I can put towards some.

Puppermint · 08/12/2020 10:24

My hair is really thin and fine so I generally stay away from oils. Anyone have any experience of this product? My hair just kind of hangs no matter what I do with it so I’m a bit worried I’ll end up a greasy mess with today’s item.

ashmts · 08/12/2020 12:54

Pleased with today, I've never tried Olaplex but hear good things. My hair was in great condition until recently but I've started going lighter and the ends are really fragile. Hopefully this helps. Tempted to buy myself 0 and 3 as they sound more like what I'm needing. I got no 7 today.

RazorstormUnicorn · 08/12/2020 16:43

@MiaN I was asking about different acids so thank you. I need to look into a bit more as I have a salicylic acid fash wash too.

I am looking forward to trying olaplex but I have loads of hair oil from beauty box to use. Its all black so I can't see what's left so did a dip stick test and I'm not even 25% through it! It's ok, but it's so dribbly and more goes down the bottle than on my hairbrush or fingers. I can't wait to finish it but can't bear the waste of chucking it!

Offredismysister · 08/12/2020 18:00

I’m really not one for hair products, but I read the reviews on cult beauty for this & they are good.
I’m going to try it tomorrow.

I’m ready for a face cream now or a balm cleanser.

DesperatelySeekingSunshine · 08/12/2020 20:34

Delurking... I was really looking forward to getting the olaplex, but I thought it was going to be No.3 The reviews for No.7 are really mixed.
May just have to treat myself to 3!
Have maybe two nights left of my DHC oil, so looking forward to trying the Eve Lom capsules.

Puffler · 08/12/2020 23:19

Love today’s! I already use Olaplex number 3 and I’m not a huge fan of oils but tried it tonight. I’m a convert! My DH who normally doesn’t notice a thing said your hairs looks nice, have you done something different, it’s very shiny! It feels so good and is so soft and shiny, it is hanging so much better too.

Love it!

Not fan of today's. However I have many friends who love it and will be very happy to make use of it. I just don't use that type of product, I tried many and they don't work for my hair

Offredismysister · 09/12/2020 07:12

I feel pretty much the same as yesterday. I do like the living proof range & might use this dry shampoo in between washes but it’s not something I would buy.

Bravobravobravo · 09/12/2020 08:49

Just tried the olaplex and I love it. I have fine hair so am usually wary of using oils but this has really made my hair smooth and shiny!

doadeer · 09/12/2020 09:01

I haven't read the instructions properly does the oil go on wet or dry hair?

RazorstormUnicorn · 09/12/2020 09:13

Dry shampoo is not the sexiest item but I work out most days so I am hoping this will do something to soak up the sweat between washes.
@doadeer I haven't checked olaplex but other hair oils I tip/squirt on my hair brush and run through dry hair. I found if it put it on my hands I used way too much and made my freshly washed hair look greasy.

ashmts · 09/12/2020 09:29

Yeah hard to get excited about dry shampoo but it's useful to have.

The Olaplex says it can go on dry or damp hair. Last night I put quite a lot on (dry) hair and this morning it wasn't even greasy, seems to absorb well. I washed my hair this morning and then put it on the damp ends before drying. My hair feels less dry than yesterday but I also used the Coco and Eve mask so hard to know what's helping most.

Bravobravobravo · 09/12/2020 10:16

I used the olaplex on damp hair. Great tip about using a brush rather than my hands @RazorstormUnicorn I will try that next time.

Puppermint · 09/12/2020 10:43

Tried the dry shampoo this morning as CBA washing it for yet another day on video calls and I think it's quite nice. Not sure it's worth paying for though, doesn't seem to have done much more than my usual tin of Batiste (sp?) . Going to try to Opalex tomorrow so thanks for the tips Smile
