Most money you've ever spent on one make-up item?

I bought a Lancome lipstick the other day, it's matte navy blue and I'm going to wear it to work tomorrow. It's £25.50, beating my Huda Beauty Electric Obsessions eyeshadow palette by 50p. I am not a make-up snob by any stretch of the imagination, my usual go tos are Revolution and NYX. I've bought Smashbox eyeshadow sets in the past for £42 but they work out as quite good value.

I'm also slightly over-excited because it's my first 'proper' high end make-up thing from a posh brand and I'm really happy about it. (Weirdly L'Oreal own Lancome, Urban Decay and NYX, I own many lipsticks from the other three brands, including various shades of blue. Grin)

For me it was the Hourglass Ambient Lighting pallets which was about £55. I hardly use it because I love it so much I dont want it to run out. Makes no sense!! Think ill wear it tomorrow.

isabellerossignol · 24/12/2019 06:25

About £45 on a Bobbi Brown palette of four eyeshadows and a blusher. It's the only item I've ever bought where I used it until there just wasn't a scrap of it left.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2019 06:33

Urban Decay Naked palettes. Definitely worth it.

I might try the Hourglass lighting palette soon. Heard lots of good things about it.

fantasmasgoria1 · 24/12/2019 06:44

I just looked up that ambient lighting palette! So much money! There isn't much of it either. I can't remember the most I have ever spent on a make up item, i have spent over £30 on foundation before now and a lot of money on an eyeliner pen which was rubbish!

WalkAwaySugarbear · 24/12/2019 06:46

Probably about £15. I don't buy into big brands.

Thinkle · 24/12/2019 06:53

Hourglass here too, but I do use it every day as it makes such a difference and I don’t care that it’ll cost a fortune to replace. (Although it does last a while)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2019 06:57

Tell me more about the Hourglass please! How do you use it and what does it do?

StormBaby · 24/12/2019 07:01

I bought an Argan Gold foundation/bb cream thing which was something ridiculous like £70. I'd had a sample in a box and it was the most amazing stuff. I'd had a inheritance and I just thought "fuck it". Certainly couldn't buy it now!

healthylifestylee · 24/12/2019 07:03

Think it was £20 on an benefit eyeliner

Been debating if I should get the Anastasia eyebrow pomade for over a year now tho

overtheseagull · 24/12/2019 07:05

Hourglass too! So worth it. I have the Diffused and Dim full size ones.

beautifulstranger101 · 24/12/2019 07:07

Hourglass curator lash- £71
(don't bother- it was just like any other mascara btw)

beautifulstranger101 · 24/12/2019 07:09

Agree with the lighting palette though- I use Dim light and its beautiful, makes your comlpexion look like its bathed in candlelight!

beautifulstranger101 · 24/12/2019 07:09

Dollywilde · 24/12/2019 07:09

I’m a devotee of Nars Sheer Glow foundation so it’s £33 a pop on that which adds up. Had a little Christmas bonus splurge yesterday and spent £80 on a new foundation plus a new Nars mascara and blusher. Only justified it thanks to the bonus plus the fact I’ll be on maternity leave later this year so it’ll be Collection 2000 all the way after that Smile

KatherineJaneway · 24/12/2019 07:11

Dior Pump 'n Volume mascara. Although on reflection it was reduced due to a price match and I paid with a voucher so not sure if that counts Xmas Grin

lolaflores · 24/12/2019 07:31

Guerlain primer with flecks of gold in it..£64. Pointless waste of money. No I objective difference.

Kevin aucoin skin sensual thingy. Tiny pot but the stuff is so thick you need a teeny piece to cover have your face. £35.00. Very beautiful finish and feels light as air ut takes a while to master.

Want Hourglass so much and this conversation is revving my engine shall we say.
Is there anywhere in Liverpool I can buy it? We r ip there over xmas and gling shopping so.....let me knkw
Am I just a fool for marketing?
I was looking at Charlotte tilbury powder for a soft illuminated finish as well. And one of her lipsticks.

Housewife2010 · 24/12/2019 07:51

You can buy Hourglass in Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar and John Lewis in Liverpool. I have two of the six pan Hourglass palettes and love them. They should be £75 each but I waited and ordered them from Space NK when they had a £15 off a £60 spend offer.

SpeckledyHen · 24/12/2019 07:56

£28 on a Waterproof Chanel mascara that wasn’t waterproof ! I returned and got a refund after a bit of a discussion with the SA .

‘ we can’t take it back because you have used it ‘ .... ermmm ... I needed to use it to know it isn’t waterproof !!

JoanBonJovi · 24/12/2019 07:57

Armani foundation I think.

JoanBonJovi · 24/12/2019 07:58

I found the Anastasia pomade way too pigmented. Hard to apply. Prefer Mac pencil

Ohyesiam · 24/12/2019 08:01

I use dior foundation in the winter, Armani in the summer. Both about £45.

Pinkyyy · 24/12/2019 08:01

I've got quite a few experience palettes which I love. But I once spent £60 on a Christian Louboutin lipstick and it's absolutely awful. It's so matte that you can't get it on without literally scraping it over your lips. Its now on display because it looks beautiful, so was essentially a very expensive ornament.

Freeshavocado · 24/12/2019 08:02

I use Armani foundation so that's normally £36-£40 a pop depending on where I buy it

Pinkyyy · 24/12/2019 08:02

Expensive pallettes* not experience

JoanBonJovi · 24/12/2019 08:03

Tom ford lipstick is worth it. Smacks chops
