😊

StCharlotte · 28/10/2019 07:56

The original dresses worn by HM and Jackie Kennedy are nicer than the Crown copies.

Agreed (they should have got the Outlander costumier on it!).

BlingLoving · 28/10/2019 08:28

I think a good strapless dress can be gorgeous but agree that the fit is often a problem. My pet hate is the bits of skin under the arms/ above breasts that often flap around. Even on very slim women!! Drives me mad.

But a well fitted strapless evening gown on a woman with a long neck and lovely shoulders can be incredibly sexy. I always feel it works well with heavier fabrics like velvet etc.

peridito · 28/10/2019 08:32

I also think harry and Meghan's big pr mistakrnid to try and appear "reasonable". As a result they get a lot of incorrect interpretation. They need to dumb down their message as then bang on and on about it. Ie , we accept scrutiny but will not accept outright lies" over and over again in a million different ways

BlingLoving that's so simple and so spot on . Get that application in for PR person for H&M now!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/10/2019 09:42

we accept scrutiny but will not accept outright lies

Excellent 👌

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/10/2019 09:42

HM looking cute in a chanelesque dress with pockets

Royal style: we want more salwars and we're not sari about it!
AppleKatie · 28/10/2019 10:21

That’s a brilliant picture! It’s like she saying ‘pockets! Pockets! I’ve needed these for 60 years’ 🤣

ajandjjmum · 28/10/2019 10:29

Bet she's happy that she can keep her mobile in there, rather than messing around in her handbag! Grin

BlingLoving · 28/10/2019 10:35

I actually thought that was a spoof picture when I saw it on Twitter this morning. She looks so casual with her hands in her pockets!! I love it though. Am currently writing to Sainsburys to request pockets in girls school dresses - on the basis that DD is as likely to want to pick up a pretty feather or stone, carry a toy or be able to safely take in her £1 for the school Poppy Appeal!

BlingLoving · 28/10/2019 10:39

Haha Perdito! I would be terrible in that while I'm pretty good at messaging across the board, what I know about how to do PR in context of tabloid press is pretty finite. But I DO think they need a lesson in messaging and simplified answers. They are making a mistake I see a LOT with my clients in that they are overestimating the power of a good argument or rational discussion. It just doesn't work that way.

Harry's letter was heartfelt and I think it really tugged at a lot of heartstrings BUT.... I think it could have been shorter, snappier, and more direct without losing the emotion!

(I'll tell you another group that could absorb these lessons - schools. I've lost count of the number of parents at different schools I've had this conversation with about how the communication is too much, too extensive, too scattergun.... Grin )

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/10/2019 10:42

I love a pocket to the extent that I'm looking for wedding dresses that have them!

OP posts:
BlingLoving · 28/10/2019 10:45

@QueenOfTheAndals depending on the style, it amazes me that pockets aren't more of a thing in wedding dresses. All that excess fabric - you'd think a pocket could easily be slipped in!!!

Northernlurker · 28/10/2019 10:54

Zara Tindall's wedding dress had pockets.

BlingLoving · 28/10/2019 11:08

Yet another reason to love Zara then!

BertrandRussell · 28/10/2019 11:50

That’s not a real picture of her Maj is it???

Why do we love Zara?

Lunde · 28/10/2019 12:10

The picture og HMQ is from the cover of Hello magazine - from a story about her dresser's book

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/10/2019 12:47

HM is probably saying, “Ditch the Handbag!”

BlingLoving · 28/10/2019 12:50

@Bertrand because she seems so normal? I mean, admittedly shes not on my list of top 3 royals I'd love to go drinking with but she does seem Normal to me.

BertrandRussell · 28/10/2019 12:56

Ah yes- the sort of “normal” that gets £1000000 for 6 days consulting work.... Grin

BertrandRussell · 28/10/2019 13:04

Sorry- too many 0s. £100000 for 6 days work.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 28/10/2019 13:35

It’s the DM so can be taken with a punch of salt.
Harry & Meghan considering locating to the US for large chunks of the year

Not exactly a surprise, but I’d be interested to see how that works with being funded by the UK taxpayer. Presume they will pay for their own home in the US as they’ve just been given one in England.
What about security. Royal Protection officers would have to live almost permanently out there.

To be honest; if they are seriously considering doing that; they have to ditch the titles and perks and become Mr & Mrs Mountbatten Windsor.
( This option was offered to Princess Margaret, so she could marry Group Captain Peter Townsend; and interestingly, she preferred staying a princess rather than a commoner)

WineOrGinOrBoth · 28/10/2019 13:44

I’m with you Curly.

They cannot be funded by the taxpayer & live abroad. Live abroad by all means but fund yourself.

This worries me a little if it’s true & if Meghan Is the driving force. I’m not saying she is but isn’t it classic abusive behaviour to move your partner away from his/her support nextwork?

Blingandrings · 28/10/2019 13:58

What will happen to Frogmore if this is true? Will it just sit empty whilst the taxpayer pays for the council tax and heating??

BertrandRussell · 28/10/2019 14:00

Good idea to buy a nice house in California and install Doria in it- and use it for holidays and for Archie to be a little American boy some of the time. Depressing that a woman who appears to want an equal marriage is read as controlling!

ajandjjmum · 28/10/2019 14:18

The Sussexes are paid for by the Duchy of Cornwall, not the taxpayer, although I think we cover their security costs, which are presumably not cheap!
