The thing about Philip for me is that I think he IS rude, that's true. But I also think that like his son, he's done some really important things and has taken a big picture view of a lot of stuff. And I think the casual racism we've read about with him in the past very much was normal for the time and class. Doesn't make it okay, but I think it does shine a different light on things.

justasking111 · 28/10/2019 17:41

I suspect if I spent an evening with some of the royal ladies, and if they were to let their hair down and be honest I would be advocating LTB`s Grin

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 28/10/2019 18:05

I'd choose Fergie. Bet she's got some tales to tell Grin

AppleKatie · 28/10/2019 18:12

Kate for a kitchen supper.

Camilla for an afternoon into evening pub session.

Meghan for a girls night out.

Phillip for making you feel better at home after failing a job interview ‘have a brandy, fuck em you’re too good for them anyway...’ or after a relationship break up.... same advice.

The queen on a long dog walk in the wilds of Scotland with a generous hip flask.

They all have their places and you need to get them in the right environment to really spill the beans. 😂

BertrandRussell · 28/10/2019 18:23

I wouldn’t want to cook for or eat with Kate. I think I would find her iron self control daunting. And the surrendered wife thing is pretty soul destroying.

Rhubarbisevil · 28/10/2019 18:27

But you could do some nice cucumber canapés, a nice consommé and fruit salad. She’d be fine with that.

Don’t forget that Meghan is a fan of Tig. I saw a bottle of that and it’s over £130.

Rhubarbisevil · 28/10/2019 18:27

As this is S&B, what would you wear?

BertrandRussell · 28/10/2019 18:32

Interesting. I think that Meghan and Camilla are the only ones I wouldn’t feel any need to dress up for.

AppleKatie · 28/10/2019 18:37

Fair enough re not eating with Kate. I wasn’t really imagining the food more the red wine and conversation!

The clothes would obviously have to suit the occasion although what would suit and what would suit me is sadly two different things!

Jeans and a Breton for Kate- play at own game if we want gossip.

LBD for Meghan.

Jeans a musto for HM and prob Phillip too.

Camilla trickier, no idea what I’d wear to that pub. It would be dog friendly though 🤣

AdaColeman · 28/10/2019 18:56

I'd go for a cocktail with Edward, he seems like a nice boy.

AngelaScandal · 28/10/2019 19:00

@BertrandRussell you dark horse, practically bessie mates with the Countess!

That's dead easy @AppleKatie, an ancient Barbour and mud-splattered Hunter wellies. Splendid!

Another snippet from Angela Kelly's book in the Guardian -

Here

Apparently the EU flag hat was a coincidence!

I don't want to believe that!!!

AdaColeman · 28/10/2019 19:31

Another Angela snippet, apparently people bet on what colour hat HM will wear at Ascot. Who knew?

JaimeBronde · 28/10/2019 19:34

Possibly on a conscious level it was a sheer coincidence, but our subconscious influences much of our behaviour...

paradyning · 28/10/2019 19:34

Re: the US residence story. There have been a few blinds over the last 6 months or so about this. So now it's broken into the press I'm more inclined to believe it. Even if it is the DM.

RomaineCalm · 28/10/2019 19:48

I think I'd have to post for advice on S&B...

"Please help, I am due to go out for drinks with a new friend and have no clue what to wear. I want to be comfortable but not sure that my usual very casual, slightly scruffy style would work for this one.
If it helps my new friend tends to stick to dresses in really bright colours or florals - usually with quite sensible black shoes and bags. I have seen her in riding gear but not sure that would be appropriate for the pub either. I've thought about tweed or tartan but what??? Smile"

TSSDNCOP · 28/10/2019 20:21

DH day next to Mike T at a do. Verdict: “nice fella”

Hmm
TSSDNCOP · 28/10/2019 20:23

Sat not day

BeaBravo · 28/10/2019 21:29

And the surrendered wife thing is pretty soul destroying

Why do you have to describe her in such a derogatory way? Can't she just be a happily married woman with 3 children. She always looks perfectly content to me.

MotherofPearl · 28/10/2019 21:45

I see the leather skirt thing - pioneered by Meghan - is really catching on. Here is CPM's. It's Massimo Dutti apparently. I'm afraid I'm no fan of the blouse, but the skirt looks good.

@BeaBravo
Agree completely!

MangoFeverDream · 29/10/2019 04:18

I think it’s that in photos, she’s always, always looking at him, waiting for him to make the first move, while he barely seems to look at her. It’s a mismatch that really comes across at their joint events

TSSDNCOP · 29/10/2019 04:27

That’s just not accurate though. A super-quick Google contradicts that with many pics where he’s looking at her it they’re laughing together. The cases where she may be deferring to his rank don’t really differ that greatly from the HMQ/Prince Phillip, Charles/Camilla dynamic.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/10/2019 05:26

Just downloaded the Angela Kelly book.
I’ve read the sample, now going to crack on with the main book
