What's the best beauty tip you have that works?

Just a general question really. I want to know if I'm missing out on any untapped Gold Standard beauty techniques!

The best tip I have currently is to run a little translucent powder through your brows if they look a bit fierce. Settles them right down. Also "Eyebrows are sisters, not twins."

My favourite tip was to get a cheap concealer thats a couple of shades too lighy, put it under eyes, blend then do foundation and a tiny bit of normal concealer of top to banish dark circles.

pardrej · 26/04/2017 10:04

Do. Not. Pick. Your. Skin.

ThE hardest, but the most effective.

plumstone · 26/04/2017 10:43

I have several:
Always wear sunscreen when outside all the time in all climates
Always take your makeup off every time you wear it.
Smile - you will always look better
And like Pardrej - don't pick at skin, especially on your face

FlappyFish · 26/04/2017 11:30

Of wearing false lashes, put the glue on your eyelid instead! Don't faff with it on the lash itself trying to line it up right.

Squaddielife · 26/04/2017 12:37

Drink lots of water

Double cleanse every evening and don't just take makeup off with wipes

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 26/04/2017 12:45

Cleanse and moisturise.
And you look silly beyond imagination if you do the contouring-glow-caterpillar-brow pout beloved of Mrs Glossers.

Beketaten · 26/04/2017 12:52

Get your brows threaded! It makes a real difference to your face, in a way you just can't put your finger on. Where I go it costs £4 and takes less than 5 minutes, I just ask for a tidy up.

Great idea for a thread, OP.

Mine's from Karl Lagerfeld... 'Sunglasses are like eyeshadow: they make everything look younger and prettier.'

toffeeboffin · 26/04/2017 13:14

Drink loads of water.

Johnson's baby lotion as an all-in one make up remover and moisturiser.

sleepwhenidie · 26/04/2017 13:17

Give up alcohol!

EleanorRigbysNeice · 26/04/2017 13:19

Chin raised when being photographed to give you a jawline and lessen dark shadows....looking every-so-slightly away from the camera Wink

Always use a tissue to blot foundation/Tinted Moisturiser (whatever you use) half an hour after application to take that "I've put my face on" look. It helps to merge skin with product.

Girlywurly · 26/04/2017 13:21

Loving these tips... keep 'em coming...!

MusicToMyEars800 · 26/04/2017 13:25

good sleep
drink plenty of water
cleanse and moisturise
eat well, for glowy skin eat plenty of orange and red veg such as carrots, peppers, butternut squash etc
sun screen is a must
I must stop picking my face, it is so hard not too, but it does ruin your skin Sad

Greenvalleymama · 26/04/2017 13:33

A pint of warm water and a morning mile (walking) always make me look and feel so much better. It gives me colour in my cheeks, and makes me look awake and alive, which I definitely do not when I get out of bed!

margaritasbythesea · 26/04/2017 13:52

Tiny blister plasters drain the yuk out of spots overnight. More satisfying even than picking - and no skin damage.

Destinysdaughter · 26/04/2017 15:34

Coconut oil is a great overnight treatment for dry hair!

KatyS36 · 26/04/2017 17:07

Love the eyebrows are sisters. I'm going to use that phrase if I ever get them shaped again.

fizzicles · 26/04/2017 17:29

Liquid eyeliner is much easier to apply if you do a line with pencil first.

If you need lots of concealer for dark circles under your eyes, use powder in between each layer.

Sail Hughes, who writes a beauty column in the Guardian is my guru - don't think I'd know anything about makeup if it wasn't for her!

spankhurst · 26/04/2017 18:39

Rub whatever moisturiser/serum you have left on your hands onto the backs of your hands.
Only cleanse skin at night, just splash with lukewarm water in the morning.
Drink plenty of water. Dull but effective.

Daydream007 · 26/04/2017 21:26

Give up alcohol, you will notice a huge difference in your skin and eyes.

MrsCocoa · 26/04/2017 23:14

Avoid magnifying mirrors then fading eyesight will eventually ensure everything looks alright Wink. True.

AddToBasket · 26/04/2017 23:18

Fake lashes.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 27/04/2017 15:17

These are great- love a good tip!

Flappy but what if you blink? Don't you get glue all over your eyelids?

My top tip is luminizer smeared on the cheekbones after moisturiser. Or even easier, mixed in with moisturiser. Don't have a glow? Who cares, you can just fake it! Grin The L'oreal Lumi one makes me look 10 times less haggard.

user1493033755 · 27/04/2017 15:22

Drink lots of water, wear sun screen, exfoliate before you go to sleep (& moisturise), change your pillow case fortnightly, understand your skin and the ingredients you need, doesn't matter how pretty the packaging is- always read whats in it! Invest in good skincare
