You know how some people refer to Primark as Primarni?? Well......

DH is convinced that the word Primarni is a cross between Primark and Armani (as in Giorgio Armani, posh suits etc).

But I always thought it was a combination of Primark and Marni (fashionista favourite). Who is right?

(please say me)

I have always though it was Armani. I heard it first off my aunt, who said it was so always just assumed that was right.

Sorry

NuggetofPurestGreen · 21/02/2016 13:59

I thought the latter!

liptolinford · 21/02/2016 13:59

I just assumed it was Armani!

XiCi · 21/02/2016 14:00

Yep, definitely Armani

YankNCock · 21/02/2016 14:00

Sorry, I think your DH is right. So does Urban Dictionary.

luckiestgirlintheworld · 21/02/2016 14:01

Never heard of Marni. I always assumed Armani

Dontdrinkandfacebook · 21/02/2016 14:03

I thought Armani

LemonRedwood · 21/02/2016 14:03

I always thought armani too, sorry.

StAlphonsosPancakeBreakfast · 21/02/2016 14:03

I've always thought same as you OP particularly as the clothes very often lean more towards a Marni style than the highly tailored Armani look. Also the urban dictionary isn't exactly a reputable citation. Grin

CointreauVersial · 21/02/2016 14:03

Argh! At least Nugget thinks I'm right!

OP posts:
NuggetofPurestGreen · 21/02/2016 14:03

Marni makes more sense though? Because last syllable is the same, rather than 'mani'.

Tartyflette · 21/02/2016 14:04

i thought it was Marni.

Tate15 · 21/02/2016 14:05

Back in Essex we called it Pree-mar-shay!

QOD · 21/02/2016 14:05

Never heard of Marni

Deffo Armani

LaurieFairyCake · 21/02/2016 14:06

Definitely Marni

They style is nothing like Armani but they blatantly copy the boho look Marni favours

IWantedThatBiscuit · 21/02/2016 14:08

I thought it was Armani (I doubt most people know about Marni)? Thought it was a pisstake on the fact it very definitely isn't 'designer'?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 21/02/2016 14:08

A small but vocal minority in your favour OP!

HarrietSchulenberg · 21/02/2016 14:10

I've never heard of Marni.
Primarni is meant to be a cross between Primark and Armani, the idea being that it's designer style clothing at cheap prices.
Still shite whatever it's called.

EdithWeston · 21/02/2016 14:10

Primary and Armani have both been around for a good couple of decades before Marni.

Also, not everyone has heard of Marni.

Never occurred to me it could be anything other than Primark+Armani, given relative penetration of brands over time.

CointreauVersial · 21/02/2016 14:11

DH has never heard of Marni! He said "the common man who shops in Primark" hasn't heard of Marni either.

OP posts:
Katenka · 21/02/2016 14:12

Most people haven't heard of Marin, must have at least heard of Armani

NuggetofPurestGreen · 21/02/2016 14:12

But it would be 'Primani' wouldn't it??!

NuggetofPurestGreen · 21/02/2016 14:13

Primarni is meant to be a cross between Primark and Armani, the idea being that it's designer style clothing at cheap prices

But that's true either way.

Assume it is meant to be Armani based on this thread but I always assumed Marni

Trills · 21/02/2016 14:14

Armani.

Never heard of Marni.

chipsandpeas · 21/02/2016 14:14

i have never heard of marni either
