You know how some people refer to Primark as Primarni?? Well......

DH is convinced that the word Primarni is a cross between Primark and Armani (as in Giorgio Armani, posh suits etc).

But I always thought it was a combination of Primark and Marni (fashionista favourite). Who is right?

(please say me)

Yeah, Italians wouldn't necessarily say Armarrni .... Trying to reignite the pass-ta / parsta argument....

I say armanny.

Another vote for Marni. I thought it referred to the speed with which they could get catwalk knock-offs onto the sales floor.

Damn! I just googled Marni and looked at their S/S 2015 collection - had I gazillions of money I would buy it all.

It's definitely Primarni for the following reasons:

It's not as 'old' as some people are saying - it was specifically about a collection in the 00's - started with a bag if I remember correctly?

But then it became about the boho stuff that summer and the collection the year after

It has never been about any old designer clothing though the word may have passed into common parlance where people think it's related to Armani.

But it 100% definitely started with Marni when Marni was top of fashion about 10-13 years ago - that boho look favoured then by Kate moss.

There are historical articles (historical is ridiculous but I can't think of a better word) written by Liz Jones in the Daily Mail referring to Primarni.

These paragraphs are literally the twattiest thing I've ever written Hmm

But surely Armani is quite posh? When I think of Armani I picture wealthy ladies fur coats whereas Marni for me, is catwalk fashion and has a bit of edge.

As you can probably tell I buy neither.

I had no idea it was associated with Armani. It's always been Marni in my head.
