Anyone want to loose 7lbs with me?

ifonly4 · 16/10/2015 10:28

Just wondering, if anyone wants to join me and loose 7lbs (give or take a few pounds depending on circumstances). Have put that on in the summer, cut back on alcohol and snacking in the evening since but hasn't helped, so need some inspiration without starving myself to death and treats going totally out of the window!

I'm not overweight, but jeans feel a bit tight and extra flab is hanging out so just want to get it back to "normal".

It doesn’t sounds right for you then scatty i’d keep doing what you’re doing at the moment as fasting is not recommended for people who have been ‘linked’ with eating disorders.
I am a teacher too Grin. I do get light headed but I think that is more to do with my cycle than food as it doesn’t seem to vary depending on what i’ve eaten more with what time of the month it is!

Scattymum101 · 02/11/2015 22:55

I'd never thought of that being linked to my cycle! Think I'll try and track that and see if I can see a link!!

Yeh I find weight watchers good because I can see if I'm under eating and give myself a kick up the bum.

ifonly4 · 03/11/2015 11:18

Happy, congratulations on losing another 2lbs. I bet you were pleased.

Scatty, they were talking about dieting on the tv and it came down to the fact that it's all about finding the diet for you, ie one you can stick at easier and fits in with your lifestyle, so you're wise not to do the fasting and look into other things.

I noticed with my cycle from the moment of ovulation I genuinely do feel more hungry. Also, noticed I seem to need a mega eating session the day before - hmm that's coming up so maybe I need to make a plan of what to eat, ie something that might be more filling.

Yeah I have low blood pressure generally which is apparently the ‘main reason’ according to Dr however I think it’s much worse at particular times of the month rather than when I’ve not eaten much.

Very true ifonly Smile

Non fast day for me today so I’ve had a flapjack, lentil soup, ham roll and two large slices of veggie pizza (was a thin base so not feeling too guilty!). Very carb heavy day

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 03/11/2015 19:33

Can I join at this stage? 7lb is pretty much what I want to lose. Snacking and chocolate are my downfall, hopefully joining you will help my motivation.

ifonly4 · 04/11/2015 10:32

You're more than welcome EE. I'm a snacker as well, but I have managed to snack just smaller amounts.

Smile welcome EE

Well I was thrilled to stand on the scales this morning for them to read 11 stone Grin I know I still have quite a bit to go. I’d like to be much nearer 10 stone by Christmas time but I am feeling good about my progress. I’m on a fast today so i’ve had a banana so far. Lasagne ready meal later Grin

I snack a lot too on my 5 days because I work in a school and there is always food everywhere! And the children bring me cakes and sweeties and biscuits!

Karcheer · 04/11/2015 19:51

scattymum I get that too! I have to eat regularly or a get dizzy feel, sick etc. I read fasting isn't very good for women but apparently great for men.
I'd love to join you all, but we are doing an extension on the house at the moment and doubt I'll be able to sick to it.

Madmog · 05/11/2015 10:12

Just checking in. I've eaten more the last two teatimes without thinking and stupidly forgot myself and bought a danish pastry yesterday. I am still in the right frame of mind though, I guess it's easier for me as I'm just making minor changes as I don't have much to loose.

Talking of hormones, I now understand why they say you put on 1lb on average each year in your 40's. There are shorter times between my periods and I know I eat more when I'm due on, so that's probably contributed to me suddenly putting on a little weight.

If anyone has any suggestions for how we keep munching down due to hormones, please share. Next time I'm going to reach for an apple if I want extra, so if I'm snacking more at least some of it will be healthily and lower calorie.

Lottie4 · 06/11/2015 14:41

Can I join please? I'd like to loose about 1st. Aim is to loose what I can before Xmas, keep the same weight over xmas and then loose rest in New Year.

I've been reading through some of the posts and you all sound like you've been doing really well even though some days are harder than others - the main thing I guess is that overall you're making the effort.

On tv they were saying the other day people tend to stick to low carbohydrate diets more than most, so might give this a try by having less carbohydrates and also thinking about whether there are lower calorie options for snacks & meals in general. Just me and DD tonight so am going to start straight away.

ifonly4 · 08/11/2015 10:46

Kate, well done on your weigh in. I bet you were pleased.

Have lost another 1lb here. Think my tracksuit bottoms actually feel a bit looser.

How's everyone else getting on? Are you managing to stick to it, or struggling a bit?

OP posts:
AWONI · 08/11/2015 20:46

Can I join please? I'm about 10lbs heavier than I was before my last baby but think I'd just like to lose 7 and see how I feel there, don't want to look gaunt.

I'm doing old fashioned calorie counting, 1200 per day on mfp. I plan to do this for a fortnight and see how I feel then, I'm just over 9 stone now so it's really not much, I just need to stop comfort eating in the evenings. And all the crisps/biscuits/cakes I snack on....
I'm also doing some radical taking-care-of-myself so planning lots of bubble baths, body moisturiser and early nights Smile

Madmog · 09/11/2015 14:44

Welcome LOTTIE and AWONI - loosing weight and looking after yourself can only be a good thing. This thread has helped me keep up motivation when I've had bad days.

Anyway, weighed in at weekend and lost another 1lb so I'm happy with that.

HappyGirlNow · 09/11/2015 16:34

Hey forgot to update after last Friday's weigh in.. Another 2lbs off with Slimming World.. And considering 3 days of that weeks were spent on a long weekend away with lots of food and alcohol I'm pretty pleased Grin Love SW...

KateSpadeAddict · 09/11/2015 21:53

Welcome Lottie and Awoni Smile

Awoni I envy your current weight Envy

Well done Madmog and Happy

How do you cope with eating out/on the go with slimming world happy ?

I don’t know what to suggest to curb cravings during hormonal times...I do enjoy a liquorice and peppermint tea which is naturally quite sweet. If you like things like that it could be worth a try Madmog

Everyone’s doing different things diet wise and we are all being generally successful. It’s really interesting to read what works for other people.

After a pretty dreadful weekend eating wise - beer annd pizza (fireworks party) and then a hungover macdonalds I am still sitting at 11 stone and feeling very smug for it!

Fast day today and i’ve nearly eaten all my calories - i do have 40 left so I may have a cheapo after eight later which is 43 Wink

HappyGirlNow · 09/11/2015 22:09

Hi kate to be honest I don't really stick to it at weekends, I just try to not eat toooo much if we get a takeaway or eat out.. I drink what I want Grin

But it actually would be quite easy to stick to it because do much food is free and you could estimate amount of oil for example in a dish and include it in your allowance. As I said, love SW!

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 10/11/2015 11:43

Thank you for welcoming me! I've lost a pound so far, which I'm happy with as I've had a stinking cold, not been able to go running and indulged in chocolate on more than one occasion. I'm a lot better now though, have made tomato and lentil soup for lunch, and peperonata to have with baked potatoes for tea. It's good to have others sharing the journey!

AWONI · 10/11/2015 21:30

Thanks for the welcome Smile

I have stuck to my plan for three whole days!! This never usually happens - I'm all talk and no trousers, but mfp seems to be helping me stick to it. I came in at 1146, 1323 and 1320 Sunday to today. And I've been for some big long walks too. Fingers crossed I can keep this going. Haven't weighed myself yet - trying to hang on till Sunday.

Well done all the losers! Grin

ifonly4 · 11/11/2015 09:54

Madmog, well done, it's steadly coming off which is what I suspect you wanted rather than having a massive loss and then not being able to maintain it.

Happy, well done. I bet you're really pleased with that.

Kate, well done to you as well, keeping to your weight despite slip ups. Obviously shows you've cut back over the weeks.

EE - another well done, it's not easy when you're under the weather.

AWONI - welcome. It sounds like you're doing so well and determined too succeed. Personally, I think weighing yourself weekly is better. If you weigh every couple of days, it's easy to get disheartened if you're the same.

OP posts:
KateSpadeAddict · 12/11/2015 22:42

Sounds good happy I just cannot be bothered tracking or counting everything I eat Grin

Being ill and trying to eat well sucks EElisaveta all you want is comfort food - hope you’re feeling better.

I’ve done my two fast days for the week so i’m feeling hopeful that I will maybe have lost another pound or two by the end of next week.

Children in Need at work tomorrow though so there will be cakes everywhere!

ChickenNuggetLover · 12/11/2015 23:29

Marking place. Need to lose about a stone Sad

AWONI · 13/11/2015 07:45

Hi everyone, just checking in -
if I'm trying hard to ignore the lure of the scales....Smile
kate I know what you mean about tracking/counting everything. I'm not sure I can keep the mfp up for ages, just hope to lose the bit around my middle that's been hanging around for years and then I don't really have a plan for after that, other than perpetual moderation?!

EE hope your cold's a bit better

Welcome chicken! What's your plan?

AWONI · 13/11/2015 07:46

Oooh happy and mad hope all well with you too!!

HappyGirlNow · 13/11/2015 08:37

Hiya! Grin

Well only looks like about 1lb off this week - think I am eating far too much even though it's meant to be 'free' but also my scales are not working properly - can be a 3lb weight difference from me just stepping off and back on them.. So hoping that's to blame too! Ordered new ones on Amazon Prime to come tomorrow...

ifonly4 · 13/11/2015 09:52

Chicken - welcome!

Happy, you sound a little defeated. The amount of weight loss can decrease after the first week or so, you've done really well so far and 1lb is still 1lb.

My jeans are feeling a little more comfortable which I'm happy about. My weigh in is tomorrow, but I've already set myself up for a bad day - have a jam doughnut sat in front of me, last night's pasta to use up for lunch and am go out for a meal to celebrate friend's b'day so there'll be food, wine & b'day cake - will still try to eat a bit less than normal though.
