Anyone want to loose 7lbs with me?

ifonly4 · 16/10/2015 10:28

Just wondering, if anyone wants to join me and loose 7lbs (give or take a few pounds depending on circumstances). Have put that on in the summer, cut back on alcohol and snacking in the evening since but hasn't helped, so need some inspiration without starving myself to death and treats going totally out of the window!

I'm not overweight, but jeans feel a bit tight and extra flab is hanging out so just want to get it back to "normal".

Although, I've still had treats and probably things I shouldn't, I've managed to eat a few less biscuits and question if I can eat a few less calories each meal, either by means of what I have or portion size. Actually fancy potatoes, fish fingers & peas tonight, but might just have a couple of new potatoes and one less fish finger!

Good luck all of you who have or are trying to loose weight. How are you getting on?

Im looking forward to my weight watchers pasta meal tonight - my fast is going strong as I just had a tin of soup at lunch Smile

I used to try and eat as little as possible/less during the day - so snack a jacks and cheese triangle and fruit etc and then just eat what I wanted for dinner. It might be a more realistic way to cut out calories quickly?

It depends when you want to loose weight for Grin

thistlebefab · 19/10/2015 17:59

Well done KateSpade! I too am fasting, but had half a Subway at lunchtime which means I only have 150 calls left for tonight.... Trying to hold out as long as I can before I break out the salad! Then an early night Grin

I usually try to put off eating until as late in the day as I can - then a healthy meal for dinner. Will definitely try that on my 2nd fast day (which I always, always find more difficult than the first).

Posting on here is definitely helping! And I think I might have a look on the 5:2 thread too.

How's everyone else getting on?

thistlebefab · 19/10/2015 18:00

Oh and well done ifonly too! Are you counting calories or just cutting out certain foods?

thistlebefab · 19/10/2015 18:01

Mayum, is today your day 1? How's it going?

Oly5 · 19/10/2015 18:57

I need to lsoe a stone to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 10st 12lb. I know that's massive for some of you but it makes me a perfect 12, which I'm happy with. I love food and refuse to diet all my life. Just that last stone to lose... Booze is my big downfall!!

whitesklyer · 19/10/2015 19:01

Started the Military Diet today, its only for 3 days. Feel fine, but day 3 is bad. Justneed a kick start up the ass. I want to loose a stone by xmas, possible? Hopefully after the 3 days I'll be in "the zone".

KateSpadeAddict · 19/10/2015 19:57

I’ve just had my pasta which is a little earlier than usual. I added a whole load of spinach too which takes ages to eat so you feel like you’ve eaten more. Now a little housework, watch Downton from last night and then bed and I can eat tomorrow!

Whiteskylar I haven’t heard of the military diet, I’ll have a google!

Well done thistlebefab there is no way I could continue it after eating that for lunch, I need to keep holding out Grin

I read the threads on the 5:2 page but have never posted...

ifonly4 · 20/10/2015 10:50

Kate & Thistle, sounds like you were doing really well yesterday - keep it up! Thistle - even if you eat a bit more at certain times and that throws things out, it's still all positive as ultimately you'll be cutting back.

Oly - welcome. A few have posted wanting to loose varying amounts of weight. I think a few of us would loose weight if we could cut out alcohol - keep telling myself it's just full of sugar, doesn't help a great deal, but I'm reducing now. How are you trying to do it, cut back or a particular diet?

White - the Military Diet looks quite interesting, if my plan below doesn't show any results in the next few weeks, then I'll seriously consider it.

I only have 7lbs to loose, so am seeing how I get on by reducing what I eat. So far have reduced biscuits, alcohol, cut out snacking in evening and am thinking about lower calorie options for tea - eg, we're having quorn based spag bol tonight, but will bulk it out with more onion and some peppers, and serve with less pasta. I'll be avoiding parmesan cheese, if I taste it, I'll have to have far too much. Have been out on a 15 min bike this morning, I know it's not a lot, for still extra exercise.

Madmog · 20/10/2015 14:51

It sounds like all of you who've posted recently are doing well, keep it up.

I think mine is more middle age spread, so am trying to make lifestyle changes rather than diet. I'm eating less biscuits, having less alcohol and trying to eat smaller meals. A tin of chocolates were flying around at work earlier though, everyone else had three and I did the same (annoyed with myself here), so making sure I don't have anything now until teatime. I do feel determined and positive as I know I've cut back, even though I've had a lapse today.

I'm trying to do a few toning exercises in the house to use a few cals and hopefully tone a little.

KateSpadeAddict · 20/10/2015 16:14

Sounds like a good plan ifonly Smile lentils are good to fire in a spagbol too to make it more filling/as a pasta substitue.
Madmog theres loads of great pilates videos on youtube that are supposed to be good for toning. Im starting The Shred after Christmas Shock that will make me gain weight though so I’m trying to loose weight first...!

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 20/10/2015 17:53

Hi, can I leap in? I have lost a stone since April by fasting (3:4more than 5:2) then I got complacent and my fast days are largely failures atm. Could do with some motivation as I want to lose 7lbs for Xmas as well. Fasting today and so far so good, have Pilates this evening to distract me from food.

thistlebefab · 20/10/2015 22:13

Evening all, hope you've all had good days.

I ate about 650 calories on my FD yesterday, not too bad... Decided to log everything I ate today on MFP and have identified where I've been going wrong.. I'm eating way over 1500 calories on a regular day, and that's before alcohol! So that's been a wake up call.

Out for lunch tomorrow, so will be a NFD and I'll fast again on Thursday. Staying off alcohol until Friday eve :/.

I don't know what the military diet is either! So I'll go and google that.

Sorry not to name check any of you tonight, I can't see your posts on the iPad while I'm typing!

Notoedike · 21/10/2015 07:31

Count me in - I'm not weighing myself but I guess I have 7-14lbs to lose but I'll be guaging my progress on clothes fit. I think I've come up with an approach that I can stick with long term but I need to lose before Christmas otherwise I'll need to buy a whole new wardrobe! Previous dieting has worked but led to binging, which I'm keen to avoid!
Two reasonably sized meals a day, no seconds.
Limited/no snacks.
No chocolate, have been doing this for 6months.
No mid week drinking, but yes to pudding on a Sunday and stealing the odd jelly from the kids
Walking at least 100,000 steps a week
So far, I've lost the recently gained double boobage - thankfully all bras now fit....so I assume, fingers crossed, it's working.

ifonly4 · 21/10/2015 11:02

Only, welcome, it sounds like you've been doing so well until recently. Hopefully it'll help checking in here and get you motivated again.

Noto, welcome also. It sounds like you've got a plan. No chocolate for six months, I'm very impressed with that.

Kate, thanks for the lentils recommendation, I'll remember that. Thistle, sounds like you did well yesterday, hope you enjoy your meal and can get back on target after that.

DH had an alcoholic drink and chocolate last night, I resisted temptation! Treating myself tonight to jacket potato with beans and cheese (no butter though). I quite fancy some raw carrot, cucumber and baby tomatoes I have in, so might just have those for lunch, maybe with fruit after.

OP posts:
KateSpadeAddict · 21/10/2015 21:03

I failed in my fast today as I forgot I had a work dinner but I didn’t eat for the rest of the day so hopefully a fairly low cal day anyway. Proper fast tomo.

Onlyhere when you say you did mainly 3:4 does that mean you fasted for 4 days in a week!? Not sure that I could handle that!

thistlebefab · 21/10/2015 21:21

Hello all,

Well I stayed within my calorie target today, despite having a glass of wine with my lunch. Kind of broke my no drinking until weekend rule, but not to worry!

Kate, I'm fasting tomorrow too - good luck!

Ifonly, well done on resisting temptation! I'd go for it on the raw carrots and tomatoes if I were you, they are so low in calories.

Noto, your plan sounds good! Good luck :). Agree that clothes fit is the key, I've dug out a pair of Levi's that I bought when I was at my ideal weight, about 2 years ago and they are my measuring stick.

Notoedike · 22/10/2015 07:38

Morning!
Good luck with the fasts today Kate and Thistle, dh fasts but he cheats -a lot! Grin
I struggled with fasting, eventually gave it up after 4 months as I didn't lose anything and it made me a right grumpy bugger! Mind you I didn't gain either!
ifonly- I made dh give up midweek drinking at home because my will power is not great, he has lots of work events so he rarely manages more than 1 or 2 nights a week but it has really helped.

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 22/10/2015 08:27

kate yes if I want to lose I seem to need to do 3 fast days. I am on medication which made me put on weight so I am battling against that. I am also battling against my need for bread and biscuits! Unfortunately I make really nice bread so I have decided to stop making bread until Xmas and I need to stop with the biscuits.

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 22/10/2015 08:28

ifonly well done on the not drinking. I should add alcohol to the sin bin but ..... I am cutting it out through the week

ifonly4 · 22/10/2015 09:41

White - how's the military diet going?

Kate, doesn't sound like you completely failed your fast on Wed. Things are going to crop up and as long as we cut back at other times! Good luck with fasting today.

Thistle, even if drinking rule was broken, it's good you stayed within your limit. Good luck with fasting today.

Only - are you fasting today or starting again in a day or two?

Not having a good 24 hours. Canteen were giving away free food, so helped myself to two croquette potatoes yesterday. Then had my planned jacket potato with beans and cheese, but thinking about that it contained loads of calories. A good friend suggested meeting for coffee and cake (sorry can't resist) and as I haven't seen her for ages, can't say no.

Only me and DD for tea tonight, so can easily eat a small meal.

Scattymum101 · 22/10/2015 10:22

I'm trying to do a reverse 5:2 and stick to 1200 calories 5 days a week and not track and eat what I want at the weekend. I don't want to lose much, just tone up a bit and find a way to maintain my weight. I've been on weight watchers for the past three years and have never been able to maintain my weight without being on it so need to see how I get on using my fitness pal.

Scattymum101 · 22/10/2015 10:23

Oh also trying to cut back on carbs during the week, particularly with evening meal.

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 22/10/2015 10:58

Hi, yes I am fasting today. Bizarrely I find the fast days almost easier, horrible and hungry but I have more discipline. scatty that sounds like a good plan

ifonly4 · 22/10/2015 12:06

Hi Scatty and welcome. You're right it's also a question of maintaining it once we've lost what we'd like. Good you have a plan, 1200 sounds like a good amount to aim for, and overall you'll be eating less calories in the whole week.

Good luck with the fast today, Only.

Right done the coffee and cake, am going to move on from my guilt and get back to reducing intake. About to go to work and have some grapes in case!
