What summer dresses can I wear with leggings?

I just discovered I love dresses but hate my legs, so don't want to wear them without leggings... The only ones I have are winter dresses so look OK with them, but I'm worried about summer dresses looking 'off' with leggings...

help please?

Either wear leggings with longer tops or wear dresses, not together.

I disagree. I think you can wear short-ish dresses with leggings.

I've just bought this dress from H&M. I've worn it with bare legs and white Converse but think it would work with leggings too, maybe grey marl ones?

I often wear dresses and leggings in summer - I'm a 10/12 with HUGE calves and baring them is just too much. Plus I'm so hairy that I can shave my legs before work and have stubble by about lunchtime... I like skater styles, black Falke leggings (which are more like footless tights) and ballet flats. I also have a black/white Breton striped shift from French Connection which I like too. I think it looks good provided the dress stops a couple of inches above the knee.

Please don't wear dresses with leggings...

Wear what you feel good in and what you like! This idea that certain things are "not allowed" clothes-wise properly grinds my gears.

I think the only really acceptable dress with leggings is a Breton stripe tunic type dress and slightly cropped leggings. Please don't wear tea dresses and black leggings.

I wear all my dresses with leggings! Skater style and tea dresses, but then I don't really care what anyone else thinks, I dress for me and if others don't like it, then it really doesn't matter

I agree forget silly rules just have a look at yourself in the mirror and decide whether you like the look or not.. There was a time when no one would ever wear trainers with dresses and now it's so common so wear what you like

I wear dresses with leggings. I've caught anybody looking askance, or making the sign of the cross, or covering their children's eyes.

I've got fat thighs and they rub together and get sore if they are bare.

I don't think women should be judging other women by what they wear (or men, for that matter). If you don't like it, don't wear it, but don't tell other people not to.

I like wearing legging under dresses in summer as it prevents my ample thighs from sticking together.

As a few others have posted, I too have thighs that rub together and huge calves, so leggings look and feel far better than bare legs.

I think footless tights work better than leggings in the summer.

I footless tights can be a bit finer than leggings.

If people are paying for my clothes, they can tell me what I can & cannot wear. Otherwise, as I'm an adult, I'll decide what to wear, thanks.

Footless tights are tights. Leggings are thicker.
