New thread already?!

I had a bit of shopping time - bought a bright pink trilby from TK Maxx and a couple of belts. This is one. I'm thinking of wrapping it round my waist a few times over an oversized white shirt and leather leggings. One of those ideas that looks great in my head but will probably look demented IRL!

maradesbois · 12/02/2015 17:44

Hello, thanks for new thread Shop, I'll do the next one Smile.

QueenC hope you're feeling better today. Paris is next week. Dry thanks for link to scent place, will definitely check it out.

Blair good outfit for your non-date.

Home from a lovely day out in town with dsis. Was conscious that I still need to exchange my Hermès Christmas gift within the 3 month window. Have fallen for this pale grey scarf. Didn't get it as want to see Paris flagship store stock first but love it and will work really well for Spring too.

Amber think that belt will look good with white shirt.

maradesbois · 12/02/2015 17:46

Agree with Ujjayi re the dubious merits of 'Sediment' as a colour description!

maradesbois · 12/02/2015 17:49

Also tried this on at Hermès: [http://m.uk.hermes.com/jewelry/leather-jewellery/bracelets-1/bleu/configurable-product-066127cc.html?color_hermes=BLEU%20IZMIR&nuance=1 rivale double tour bracelet]] but in deeper sapphire blue that looked really good against ghw.

maradesbois · 12/02/2015 17:50

Aargh, have sullied the pristine new addition with link fail! Try again:

OneLittleLady · 12/02/2015 18:01

hello all, thanks for new thread Shop

ujjayi oh yes, insomnia is the pits isn't it? I'm managing though, I force myself to get up for uni and stuff even if I've only been asleep for an hour before I have to get up, the world doesn't stop because we can't sleep does it! BTW, I love the red rose skirt you made, it's really lovely

No shopping here, I'm just rooting through my wardrobe-s- every day to find new combinations of things to wear, finding lots os things I'd forgotten about so it's sort of like going shopping

lib report back on your haul, you too karbea!

shopafrolic · 12/02/2015 18:03

Mara that scarf is beautiful but my God ££££ - I'd be so scared to wear it :( like I'd ever get the chance!

OP posts:
maradesbois · 12/02/2015 18:09

Shop it looks worse in usd plus am taking advantage of the struggling eurozone plus if it's a swap is actually free...kind of!

Sleep have a fab holiday. Sounds amazing.

OneLittleLady · 12/02/2015 18:12

ahh, i missed the scarf before, it's gorgeous but way way out of my league!

sleep have a great time skiing, sounds like it's going to be great fun with so many of you going together

6 weeks today til my holiday!!

shopafrolic · 12/02/2015 18:18

LOL Mara - it is truly beautiful. If I ever see you wearing it I may not be able to resist the temptation to stroke it (with VERY clean hands) Grin

shopafrolic · 12/02/2015 18:20

Ladies who flare..... can I ask a question? Do you have to do the high rise thing to make them work? I keep seeing all this editorial saying I need to tuck in a blouse to embrace the 70s vibe. Which really isn't me - I don't do platform sandals etc.... What do you think, would they work with a pointed stiletto boot, polo neck and blazer type vibe?

OP posts:
libertychick · 12/02/2015 18:23

Ok, DH hasn't been too shocked!

First stop was Jigsaw where I found this knitted biker style cardi on the sales rail. I need to try with a few more things but I think it could be very useful.

Then Other Stories where I tried on half the shop (so many things I wanted here) but in the end bought a navy skirt, cream silk shirt, coral t-shirt and dark green wool scarf. Was very happy with this haul.

Tried lots on in Cos but in the end only bought this cardigan which is much more mustard in tone than it looks on the website. There was a couple of other things I considered, might order, will link if and when I decide!

Then John Lewis where I bought red and cream Seasalt breton style top.

Tried on loads in Massimo Dutti. Really liked this cream fringed cape but decided the material looked like it would snag really easily. I think a fringed cape / poncho of some sort might be hot I do a 70's trend because I sure as hell am not doing flares Smile

Finally Zara where I got what I suspect may work out to be my best buy this tan jacket. Great shape, fits perfectly at the shoulders and seems well made.

I am going to pause for a day or two before I take the labels off.

Oh and a rust coloured scoop neck tee in H&M which they don't have on their site so irritating to link.

OneLittleLady · 12/02/2015 18:25

I think they would work how you've described Shop definitely more 'you' than I can imagine platforms being

I don't think i'll be doing flares, they just don't look right on me as I have big thighs, I really think they look best with slimmer, more toned thighs than I've got. Not that I'm saying that to be detrimental to myself, I have always had big thighs, I just have big legs in general and always have had, flares just don't offer me the right shape despite what people say about balancing your hips etc

shopafrolic · 12/02/2015 18:28

Lib I am smiling at all your posts remembering when I was rediagnosed as a Winter and you told me not to rush updating my wardrobe. In the last 3 weeks you've done a complete overhaul - go girl! :)

OP posts:
Karbea · 12/02/2015 18:31

lib I tried on the exact same jacket in Zara, I decided to leave it as I'm trying to buying things that are non style specific, because I've no idea what my style day will say. If it's ok for my style I may go back and get it, it it's available, it's really nice.

MarshaBrady · 12/02/2015 18:32

What gorgeous links to start a new thread.

Mara that scarf is divine, I tell you, divine. I'd wear it all the time. And yes the no dc zone.

Lib love all your links, gorgeous and great colours for you, of course!

Shop I am not on the flare as yet, but yes I can see you doing that look for sure.

Sleep skiing sound fantastic.

MarshaBrady · 12/02/2015 18:33

sounds

libertychick · 12/02/2015 18:41

Shop telling other people how to live their lives and then soundly ignoring my own advise is probably what I do best Grin Grin. Not having a decent selection of work things was driving me insane.

Mara scarf is beautiful, I'll join Shop in the queue to stroke and I love the double wrap bracelet too.

And forgot to say Sleep your ski trip sounds like it will be a complete blast!

shopafrolic · 12/02/2015 18:43

Grin Grin Grin
Going to wear HL leathers tonight with GAP black merino crew neck. this necklace, LKB shoe boots and grey Pashli

QueenCardigan · 12/02/2015 19:23

Wow, it only seems 5 minutes since the last thread was started.

Great haul lib. You've got some great clothes there. I can't wait to go shopping on regents St. Only a month to go ladies.

Lovely scarf mara. I'll join the stroking queue.

shop I'm unsure about the whole footwear thing. Pointy would remind of the 00s but that's because I had some black pointy boots that I wore with flares/bootcuts and they seriously shredded my feet.

Still feeling the rage Angry. I feel like I've been vile to everyone all day. I'm also seriously pissed off with myself as I had a severe sugar craving and I've just eaten loads of cereal bars.

Karbea · 12/02/2015 19:30

Do you think I'll get away with wearing my black suede wedge loubie boots with my faux leather (brown) and new leather (colour tbc ;)) leggings?
Or do I really need to buy something new? boring everyone with boot posts

Ujjayi · 12/02/2015 19:37

Oh my word. Mara, I have serious scarf envy. I'll stand behind Lib in the stroking queue.

Shop - shrunken blazer & pointy heels with flares is absolutely great. I was about to ditch a navy blazer but am going to hang on until I find flares as I think I might finally be able to make it work (it's been in the wardrobe 5 years...). I also think high waisted will not be as flattering as style editors suggest. Am anticipating much camel hoofage in the Sidebar of Shame come the spring.

Lib - gorgeous haul. Well done. Love the scarf in particular.

One - you are very kind Smile. Be happy to make one for you when your spending ban is lifted.

I have a question for some light hearted fun: what is the worst fashion faux pas you've made in the last 10 years? Mine is probably wearing a strapless maxi to an event last summer...it was billed as a Garden Party but included a surprise treasure hunt which required much running around...oh my Shock Grin

OneLittleLady · 12/02/2015 19:43

Some would have you believe my every outfit is a fashion faux pas Ujjayi
Grin I don't know, I generally get it right when it comes to any kind of event or wedding etc, I don't inflict my own special brand of 'style' on unsuspecting brides or anything haha Grin

bettykt · 12/02/2015 20:09

Great haul Lib I love that Zara jacket

Just been looking at your purchases too Karbea some lovely stuff from the Outnet

Have a great night tonight Shop outfit is fab. Re: flares, baring in mind I'm probably a foot shorter than you Grin I'd wear them with a heeled wedge or some Swedish Hasbeens but as you're not into wedges then I not too sure. Wearing flares with boots reminds me a bit of wear bootcut with boots Confused I've got an old light wash True Religion pair, found lurking in the back of my wardrobe, and might bring them out for summer. Mad I missed the MIH ones on ASOS.

Mara another wow for the beautiful scarf, I'd be too afraid to stroke it! Very Envy at your upcoming trip to Paris, I haven't been there for ages.

Also very Envy at your ski trip too Sleep sounds like a right laugh.

QueenC in times like these, i.e. hormonal stuff I think sugar/chocolate etc is the only option, tomorrow is another day Flowers

Long post from me! Nothing much to report from me, style wise, I suppose I'm finally bored with my winter clothing and I'm also bored of being cold. I'm so over parka, hat, scarf and gloves combo although will wait until March to contemplate buying SS wear. I need to think long and hard about how I want to dress for SS as I tend to go completely off the mark and buy things that are so not me. Determined not to get stuck in a Breton ruck, even though I like them.
