Oh no sleep you poor things. Hope you get on holiday soon.

Im wearing pjs and dressing gown!

dry I feel, your pain. I'm about to spend 2 days with IL. Luckily we then go to centre parcs.

MarshaBrady · 13/02/2015 20:44

And I just got what you meant Shop doh

Fedupnagging · 13/02/2015 20:52

Oh no Sleep what a nightmare. Hope you manage to get there somehow.

Dry I have Wine ready for you when you feel up to it!

Lib great outfit.

Iam wearing grey yoga pants and a black polo neck whilst quaffing wine and consuming cheese and biscuits. which definitely won't help me get that bikini body I should apparently have

Dh is currently stuck in Germany due to an air strike Sad. Not sure there will be any wine left when he gets back (hopefully) later.

Fedupnagging · 13/02/2015 20:53

Grin Shop

santamarianovella · 13/02/2015 20:57

Think the publication wanted people talking ,and so here we are Wink, it is a very unflattering pic shot from a very unflattering angle, with harsh lightning, so they obviously wanted to cause a commotion,
TBH, I'm so scared of the idea of my body changing when I get older, If I see any excess skin I won't hesitate going under the knife,

sleep sounds horrible!

Drywhiteplease · 13/02/2015 21:02

Personally I prefer candle light, Chablis and glasses off....I look incredible

Sleep poor you! what a nightmare. Hope you make it to your holiday .

shopafrolic · 13/02/2015 21:20

Sleep oh no! Poor you! But good it happened this side of the tunnel.
Dry yes to candle light and glasses off.
I find it really sad that people feel that going under the knife / surgery is necessary and almost the norm
I love women who age beautifully and confidently.
There are lots of bits of me I dislike but I'm trying really hard to love them more........
It's indicative of society today that women feel they have to shock by wearing lingerie or a bikini in their 50s when actually it should just be the norm.
Forgive me, after 3 glasses of champagne I hope I'm making some sense.
Marsha not sure if you think I meant what I think I meant? Basically I'm more fun fully clothed and pissed Grin

Age is no barrier to beauty, that's my view on it anyway. I find it pretty sad that we're expected to be 'perfect' when it's an ideal we can't possibly live up to

Anyway, so sorry to hear of your car troubles Sleep I hope you manage to get to your destination asap

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/02/2015 21:29

Sleep oh no! I hope you get it sorted as quickly and easily as possible and can enjoy your holiday. Wine Tbh breaking down abroad is a fear of mine, so yes at least that didn't happen.

Lib you are so right about beauty being the whole, rather than each individual feature needing to be perfect.

I agree the pic of Cindy is meant to look harsh and to shock. She probably looks a lot "better" in real life, which is a shame, as it seems to undermine the message.

MarshaBrady · 13/02/2015 21:33

Ha Shop I thought that, then I wandered off piste. And I haven't even had a drink! Just brain fluff.

Sleep hope you find a way back quickly, really feel for you.

Ujjayi · 13/02/2015 21:34

Sleep hope you can sort out suitable alternative travel mode.

On the Cindy issue: I can't help but applaud her. I remember reading an interview with her where she said "I don't wake up looking like Cindy Crawford" and she strikes me as a woman's woman. But I agree that the photo itself is awful - the composition & lighting is desperately unflattering.

I had a tummy tuck a few years ago. The reason being that my stomach just didn't feel like mine anymore and I literally had to tuck it into my waistband. Having said that, I always wore bikinis on holiday & wasn't embarrassed by it. I had severe muscle separation so I thought why not get both treated at the same time. I just feel more like me again. The rest of me is far from perfect but I absolutely embrace & love it all....even my cankles Grin

As for the what are you wearing question: tartan pj trousers, one of DH's v neck merino jumpers (perfect fit...will be stealing again), MW Comic Relief tee. Stuffed to the gills with roast kale, tomatoes & whole garlic cloves, and 2 glasses of Argentinian Merlot.

Ujjayi · 13/02/2015 21:36

And Santa I think you win hands down for fashion faux pas!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/02/2015 21:44

Was trying to think of a faux pas - I think I block that sort of stuff out. Then santa's tale reminded me: a few years back I was at work one Monday morning when my bosses (2 of them) pointed out that I had forgotten to zip up my dress. Completely.

Luckily I had a top on underneath but omg - cringe.

shopafrolic · 13/02/2015 21:47

Am intrigued to know what you meant now Marsha
Ujjayi the only surgery I have ever been tempted to have is on my boobs as they no longer feel my own since breastfeeding. But I am too scared of the knife.
One of the most beautiful mums at the table last night had had Botox. The classic comment came from a younger mum (26) who said "I'm not sure what lines would worry me enough to consider Botox" to which I replied "you'll have a better idea when you're my age (42)".

santa you might be surprised how you actually feel at the time when the saggy skin appears. Aging is so gradual. I am happier with my body now than I was 10 years ago and I was really fit and toned then. I feel sympathy with my saggy bits and I don't want to hurt them Smile

libertychick · 13/02/2015 22:09

Great line shop and so true!

OneLittleLady · 13/02/2015 22:11

The only surgery I'd seriously consider right now is a tummy tuck. My stomach is a mess, I have a huge flap of skin after twin pregnancy and c-section and it's always there no matter how slim I am. I'd have to lose a lot of weight before it could be done though so it's not something I give much thought to really

I am wearing, right now, grey harry potter pjs, a grey wool jumper of dp's that he shrank and it now fits me perfectly and bright pink flamingo slippers

Karbea · 13/02/2015 22:18

I've had botox and I'd like to have my eyelids sorted at some point. I'd definitely have my boobs and tummy done. I'd like my legs lengthened - but sadly this isn't possible ;)

I'm still in my day clothes, RI top, h&m faux leather leggings, just sheepskin slipper boots.

QueenCardigan · 13/02/2015 22:27

I could never go under the knife. I'd be far too scared of the side effects and even though I don't particularly like looking at myself naked I reckon I look ok with clothes on.

santamarianovella · 13/02/2015 22:30

shop exactly, we all say stuff like that at one point then when it happens we change our mind,

lib I don't think I'll have that sort of relationship with my saggy bits in the future, Grin, I hope they get scared of the hurt I' ll cause them and they decide they don't wanna show up...ever, just like christy Brinkley ,the woman doesn't age!

QueenCardigan · 13/02/2015 22:32

Another question for tonight is....what bits of your body do you love or what is your favourite bit of your body?

I like my arms and shoulders. Especially when I do regular exercise or swimming as they tone up nicely. I like my hair too. My skins not bad either as long as I don't get hormonal spots like I have at the moment.

libertychick · 13/02/2015 22:34

GrinGrinGrin at santa.

shopafrolic · 13/02/2015 22:36

I love my legs, eyes, and thick hair. I miss my boobs and my six pack.

OP posts:
Fedupnagging · 13/02/2015 22:37

Hmm, whilst I'll never say never, I am too chicken to go under the knife or have Botox at the moment.

Also, and I think I've said this before, I kind of want to champion growing old gracefully -(not that iam particularly graceful) But, I do get my hair dyed, brows dyed etc so where does it start or stop?

libertychick · 13/02/2015 22:38

I like my upper body and think I have good lips, skin, hair and nails Grin
