SOTD an unknown sample from my perfume drawer, woodsy and irisy, am baffled but enjoying it!

Oh I lurked on the first couple of threads but was too shy to post. They were very inspiring.

SOTD for me is Chanel Coromandel. I find it sparkly and comforting and very luxurious. Like a beautifully embroidered cashmere blanket. I haven't worn it over the summer and have missed it!

SoTD: Molton Brown Londinium. (Nicely autumnal - smokey). Picked up over the summer when Boots were discontinuing but only feels right to wear now. Gorgeous bottle too.

Oh I was thinking about this this week, as I stumbled across a bag with a few decants (bought after reading the early threads). I realised last week that I forgot I wanted to try lovely fresh fig fragrances for summer, but now it's too late. It doesn't seem right now it's autumn!

SoTD: Aedes De Venustas signature perfume. Only a teeny bit of this left, so I might buy another decant. I love the tomato leaves; it's so unlike anything else I have.

Ooh Bragadocia I LOVE the smell of tomato leaves, sort of hot greenhousey scent, might give it a try!

There is a Sisley that reminds me of them which have been meaning to get a sample of too.

Love coromandel gunpowder! Just coming back into it now, it's been such a warm September and for me it's really a winter perfume.

My dh arrived home with a fb of 212 Rose which I actually like not cross at all that it wasn't chanel 19 it's not rose but rosay like wine iykwim. It's sweetish but there is something in it that tempers it, v easy to wear tho a bit strong and huge sillage I suspect!

Hello perfumistas! Have also missed the thread, but confess to being less interested in summer scents, so have only worn light stuff. SOTD is going to be a Nose sample, but am doing a lucky dip right now!

And, it's Safran Troublant... which I didn't like much when it was warm, but which may be better under a cloudy sky.

Ooh, I too am tempted by tomato leaves. That Aedes de Venustas sounds yummy - the description on the website with the rhubarb and vetiver sounds like it might be a bit like Olfactive Studios' Flashback, which is one of my faves.

Today wearing a sample of Tom Daxon Vachetta, which I am tempted to buy a big bottle of. Didn't sound like my thing from the description (leather, spicy tea) but it is DIVINE.

Also tempted to sign up for Nose, is it any good?

SOTD here is a blast from the past, a. sample bottle of Clinique Aromatics Elixir that was lurking in my dressing table at my parents house. Haven't worn Clinique make-up since the nineties so it must be ancient!

Wow, it is full on and very grown-up. I feel like I should be wearing a Chanel suit. I don't dislike it but it is difficult so far. Will see what I think as it settles.

I like the sound of leather and spicy tea leedy. Feel like I need a spreadsheet to enter these all on.

Actually there is something in the AE that reminds me of no.19! But it's a slap round the face rather than a stroke of the cheek.

Being a perfumista is such an expensive hobby. So I now try to stay away from stuff that will spark my interest in buying more. Around 70 fbs and 200ish decants and samples should last me a lifetime..

Sotd: nothing on yet, but will probably spray on some venezia pastello edp, as it's quite accessible, cheery and festive enough for ds's birthday.

I’ve been missing the perfume threads, I actually signed up to Mumsnet so I could post on one of them!

SOTD: Deja le Printemps by Oriza L Legrand, I’m working my way through their wonderful sample set which you must all order immediately if you haven’t already, it’s only €9 plus postage and arrives in a handwritten envelope with seven 2ml samples. Chypre Mousse and Relique d’Amour are astonishing. This one reminds me of L’Artisan’s Premier Figueur and Diptique Phylosikous (sp??) – big blast of wet leaves and general greenness on opening but not great longevity. It dries down to something a bit warmer and woodier. I like it but it’s not my favourite among the Orizas I’ve tried so far.

Wiltingfast I see you’re in Dublin, have you been to Parfumarija? They had a one-year anniversary event last week with Etienne de Swardt from Etat Libre d’Orange giving a talk – pink drinks and a generous goody bag of three 10ml samples, it was definitely the most glamorous Tuesday evening I've had in a long time!

Leedy, Nose is pretty good - though I wasn't mad about any of the samples they sent, it's very cheap only paid €11 including postage and they're proper spray samples. You can change your profile as many times as you want AFAIK.

Toys, I know what you mean, I started on samples but it creeps up when you fall in love with something so much you have to have a FB. I almost dread it when I love a perfume and am almost relieved when I am totally unimpressed with a line (Francois Kurkjdan and By Kilian I am looking at you).

Not wiltingfast but I'm in Dublin as well - I knew about the Etat Libre D'Orange thing but missed it. Grrrrr. Parfumarija is a great shop and the woman who runs it is lovely. Really knows her stuff too.

I stopped going on the threads as I was just simply wanting to buy too much perfume. But I did get Apres Londee and Channel 18 and Iris Nobile. I'd like Sel Marin (sp?) I got a sample it's lovely.

SOTD is Estee Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. It smells lovely and fresh - it's more of a summery scent, but it's so strong that I don't mind it for autumn. I find it quite non-offensive, but my partner isn't keen. It lasts forever on me.

Leedy I think I know you, this internet and town are too small! ;-) I love Parfumarija but have to be careful because I'll end up spending the children's swimming lesson money on Frederic Malle or something.

By Kilian is the biggest swizz ever, to me it smells like the Impulse spray-on deodorant I loved so much in 1986. I told their sales rep that in Brown Thomas but in not quite so blunt and rude a way.

Agreed, this bewilderingly mild autumn has put all my cool weather perfumes on hold. I have Cuir de Russie by Chanel, a rare FB splash, but it's far too warm to wear it yet, it's for spraying on cashmere and feeling like Joan Crawford.

Ooooh, liking the description of the Oriza Legrand sample set, but resisting temptation for now... Dublin sounds like a dream for perfume, so glamorous. Will visit one day, albeit probably for a rugby international.

I try to stay from you extremely tempting with new fumes I've never heard of lovely perfumistas as I have more full bottles than I will ever get through. SOTD is Musc Ravageur (Malle)

SOTD is Diane Von Fusterburg - diane. It's very grown up, patchouli is very strong in it. I kept seeing it in our local savers but they had it on sale last week so i got some figuring i could always pass it on if i hated it but I do like it, it's very strong though, a couple of squirts is more than enough and it lasts for ages. it eventually dries down to something soapy and creamy, maybe a touch of white flowers. there's nothing sweet about it at all, it's massively different to all the fruity/floral scents that seem so popular with most people in general
