I just hear perm and think of kevin keegan cos thats how I looked back in my perm days.

Apparently these days you can have your hair permed and not look like a poodle, however I've yet to see evidence.

I let my ex SIL do it once and she fish hooked the rollers . It was fuckng awful . I was hysterically crying laughing / crying looking at it in the mirror as it was beyond fucked up. Had to spend £140 fixing it!

Oohh - very jealous. A question though. What will happen to your fringe - will it be permed, stay straight or something else? I have a fringe but don't see how it would work with a perm.

I appear to have opened a thread from 1985.

I'm SO jealous. I have wanted a perm for years but I am too scared. I have long, straight, quite fine hair that gets greasy quickly. I suspect I am probably the worst candidate for a perm...please post a pic when it's done!

I had a perm like you want, but it was the so-called digital perm, bloody expensive and unfortunately didn't last long. Was lovely while it did, though.

Fringe is longer now, so should be fine.
