HoC Autumns

Thought I'd start a thread for autumns as the spring and winters threads seem busy and I feel I'm missing out!

I'm an autumn leaf and going for the style day soon. I haven't bought much this year as only had colours done a couple of months ago and waiting to discover my style before spending. I have been decluttering my wardrobe quite ruthlessly as I had a lot of the wrong colours/tatty clothes.

I did buy some Kettlewell tops and have had a few compliments so I certainly believe that colour analysis works.

Unfortunately my autumn/winter coats are black but expensive so I won't be replacing them for at least a couple of years.

Any suggestions for colourful hats/scarves/gloves to lift the black? High street brands please as I can't get parcels delivered to home.

I'm a soft autumn, so would be interested in anyone's suggestions. Have hardly bought any clothes over the last few years, so my wardrobe needs a serious update!

Have never had my colours done professionally but am sure I am an autumn.
I have hazel eyes,brown hair with lowlights and olivey complexion.
I look far beyyer in browns than black!
I would suggest scarves with brown in ,perhaps the ubiquitous leopard print! that would tone with black coat but add warmth.
Or green and black,berry and black?

Am hoping for more chocolatey colours in the shops soon.

I've been waiting for someone to start an autumn thread! I'm a Dark Autumn. I did my HoC day in July so have been very happy to see the autumn clothes coming in. I've been looking at a lot of burgandy dresses (also seems to be called ox blood these days??!!) and I think this will work well with the darker autumn colours but still finding my way with the colours. Will come back with links!

I think I am probably a soft Autumn.
My best colours are navy,peacock,berry,taupe,purple,moss greens,khaki,
I look awful in bluey toned red or pastels,and lip colours are basically Bobbi Brown's palette.

I like russet reds but don't often find them in the shops!

Thanks TiC - I do order a lot online and find it tricky to tell. I've found the 12blueprint site and find the descriptions and pics very helpful. Also found Bobbi Brown great - they have a new chocolate eye shadow palette out which looks nice.

Bobbi Brown colours are great for me,cant get on with their foundations though!

Georgina, chestnut and rust red are two of my ** colours so I'm really keen on getting something in either shade. I don't ever wear print, bit scared of them really so I hope the style day will help with this. And get me out of the habit of wearing essentially baggy sacks for clothes.

I've never thought brown eyeshadow looked good on me, always wear Clinique true khaki eyeliner and just finishing up my tube of black mascara. Another thing to try, though was also considering gold?

I had a quick look round the shops this week and there seems to be a lot of unsuitable purple, grey and other cool colours. I don't think the full autumn ranges are in yet.

Has anyone looked at the leather gloves in M&S? The website colours look promising.

Hurrah, an autumn thread!

I had my colours done at the weekend. I had no clue I was an autumn, thought I would be winter or spring due to dark hair / pale skin. It was quite a revelation.

I've found some lovely peacock/kingfisher blue merino cardigans in Uniqlo for £30. I've also sorted out my make up. Clinique Ambrosia lipstick works very well, but I also bought a couple from HoC as they seem very long lasting.

Loving the khaki leather gloves.

I am also on the lookout for rust seri77, so please tell us if you find anything nice!

I am dreading having to buy maternity clothes as it is all black/grey/white. Might have to invest in some Dylon...

I search TKMaxx for scarves - last time I was there I picked up a Oscar one in soft brown/ muted paisley design for £4.

Hi, I've always been told I'm an autumn by my mum, who is obsessed with her colours.

I find certain shops don't really stock autumn colours...Next, for instance, doesn't seem to. I have better luck with H&M. I am accepting the power of scarves now.

I find summer clothes quite tricky generally for colours so I'm always glad when actual autumn comes around.

I've had a russet dress from phase eight a few years ago.
Hobbs occasionally have autumny colours,plus white company sometimes have brown.
Also white stuff if you avoid twee type items do do greens and berry colours frequently.
More high fashion type shops tend to be more black based imo!

Building I always find a/w clothes much easier than s/s, as an Autumn (generally, it's easier to find your season in, well, your season).

Schmalex I'm an autumn with dark hair/pale skin too - I'm a pain in the neck to analyse, but I'm definitely an autumn!

Meganhunt burgundy is often cool, but I have come across the odd warm, murkier kind of one, which is really good on me (kind of somewhere between aubergine and rust, if you can imagine that).

I've just bought a fab winter coat on ebay, big scale tartan check, which I'm having altered. It's pure wool and gorgeous quality, so I'll get a brilliant quality winter coat for about £100, which is far far less than the perfect pure wool winter coat would otherwise cost me. I'm so chuffed with it!

If anyone's after basics, I find Baukjen, although it's £££, is brilliant quality, and sometimes has good autumn colours (seems to be a fair bit of off white, orange and khaki on there at the moment).

I would love something in that mossy green colour.

I'm a deep autumn and had my colours done probably four years ago now.

I've found some Joules dresses in autumn colours (have an outlet shop near us) and Seasalt often have good autumn colour stuff (looking forward to going to Penzance next week!).

Fatface also have some bits in autumn colours.

I too, though, am fed up with black. M&S is terrible for most of their petite range coming in either black or white which is really annoying.

I have bought a few scarves recently from scarf sellers at local agricultural shows! Still need gloves for the winter so am on the hunt.

Hello, marking place! I am cautiously self-labelling as autumn after years of thinking I must be a winter (similar pale skin/dark hair problem).

Yes, the black "basics" problem - I look fine in all-black actually, but it does kill all the other colours I love wearing so can only do it on ninja days. Navy is the other colour that seems to be bloody everywhere at the moment (especially as Georgina says in high fashion shops) and is no use to me at all, except on bottom half in denim.

Mad,I can wear navy ,in fact probably wear too much!
I think the whiteStuff,Fat Face,Seasalt,Mistral type shops are good for autumns colour wise.
Whistles is awful,all black ,grey and harsh blue.

I've managed to change a lot of my basics to a graphite or charcoal grey. And agree that smokey aubergine colour is lovely- I have a leather blazer in it which is about to get a lot of use as the temperatures fall.

I am currently very pleased with myself for dying a lovely jersey dress, previously a very summer rose-brown, a rich choc brown, which really suits me as a rich deep autumn, and looks great with gold belt.

Also beetling home to try on newly delivered dress from Kaliko sale, which looks pefectly peacock online. Will try and link later.

Hi great to see an Autumn thread. I've had my colours done but just can't seem to get the hang of putting the right ones together!
Also any product recs for make up for Autumns would be gratefully received as I have wasted sooo much money on the wrong things. My skin is olivey but can be quite sallow especially with big tired dark circles added in! I really need help choosing the right make up colours to help me look healthy rather than drained.

Excellent, I was hoping there would be an autumns thread! I was diagnosed a few months ago as a vibrant autumn. The best colours for me are deep and expensive looking - navy, forest and moss green, coffee, kingfisher and geranium.

The biggest difference though has been dying my hair brown, before it was generic golden blonde highlights. Lots of compliments for that, but I still haven't cracked the lipstick thing. I had my make up redone at a Bobbi Brown counter (and confess then bought it on eBay as it less than half the price).

I've booked onto the style day next month, as I have limited money, a capsule wardrobe and am increasingly fussy about materials and fit. I've got into a state of paralysis by analysis, and my clothes are starting to fall apart.
