Sounds like my sort of colour scheme MI!
I love red and hot pink together, that's my fave combo.

Cremolafoam · 02/09/2013 22:04

Oh sounds lush MI . I'd be throwing in a bit of violet or turquoise too.
Was just pinteresting and this popped http://www.porterhousedesigns.com/colorsizzle/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/interiordesignreveiws.com_1.jpg ooh

Ooh yes, with turquoise (one of my favs, but I love purple too!)

CointreauVersial · 02/09/2013 22:35

Sleepover girls finally stopped screeching at 1am, but were up at sparrowfart for pancakes. Once I had hoovered a ton of popcorn and chocolate crumbs off the living room carpet the DCs and I went out for our dreaded school shopping trip.

It was surprisingly enjoyable; DS was on excellent form, the DDs simply stumbled along semi-comatose behind us, we managed to pick up everything we needed (and can I heartily recommend pre-booking a shoe-fitting at Clarks; we sailed past all the sweating families queuing with their little tickets and were in and out in seconds), and we squeezed in a little snack beside the river in the sunshine.

Ooh, life is so much better when the DCs are being lovely; we've had a long stretch of loveliness which I'm hoping will last into the new term.

I am desperately hoping this sunshine lasts through next Saturday, when we have our work Fun Day. 100+ people expected now, and I am starting to lose sleep over it.

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/09/2013 22:43

I have been out for dinner, so avoiding the packing, tidying and cleaning. Grin Another interview tomorrow for another job I don't want.

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/09/2013 05:55

I have a sudden urge for suburbia:

here

Snap me out of it.

hattymattie · 03/09/2013 07:02

Sorry Mrs S - I like that one too much so it's not going to be me that snaps you out of it. Smile

Crem - your DD sounds well high powered - future UN inspector?

Am waiting for builder to arrive and start erecting scaffolding. That's going to surprise the teenage DD's when they open their shutters.

Blackduck · 03/09/2013 08:24

I have house envy - I will stop clicking on links.....

I am still fuming about this 'Plan' and the lack of consultation - they will arguing they are consulting now, but we all know it's an empty exercise. The fact they did not even evolve the senior school administrator basically tells the support staff everything they need to know about how they are viewed.

MrsS - did you hear about Friday's interview?

hattymattie · 03/09/2013 08:26

Builders - er quite cute actually.

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2013 08:29

Hatty Wink

MrsS, that house is beaut. Shame it's in Letchworth (home of my first love's parents)! And more good luck.

BD, doesn't sound good. Consultations are generally empty exercises, sadly.

Blackduck · 03/09/2013 08:31

(apologies for all the typos in that post)

BTM - it isn't good - I watched the same thing happen in the last place - you want demoralised support staff? Guess what, you are going to get them......

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2013 08:36
motherinferior · 03/09/2013 08:49

Happy birthday dearest BTM!

I personally have one day before DD1 goes back and two before DD2 leaves me in peace...feel a mix of regret and relief.

motherinferior · 03/09/2013 08:52

BTW poor old DP still shudders at the memories of the flat I lived in when we first took up together; I'd painted the rather dingy hallway the most glorious turquoise, which he alleged gave him a headache. The bedroom was a bright and sunny yellow.

beachyhead · 03/09/2013 09:27

Yeah, happy birthday BTMGrin Hatty, hope your dd finds them cute when peeking in her window from the scaffolding!

I was radically weaned off bright colours by one house we moved into, think egg yolk yellow, royal blue, deep terracotta! I spent two years trying to regain some equilibrium into brain.

hattymattie · 03/09/2013 10:03

Happy birthday BTM. Hope the first day back isn't too traumatic.

Have to confess that I like the idea of bright colours but never quite have the courage to go ahead with them so we're quite muted round here.

QueenQueenie · 03/09/2013 10:17

Happy Birthday lovely BTM.
Good luck (with EVERYTHING) Mrs S.
... And general goodwill to all....

Blackduck · 03/09/2013 10:36

Happy Birthday BTM!

I had a kitchen that was 'better class red' at the bottom (to about where a dado rail would be) and 'tumeric' above (and the ceiling). The beadroom was 'passion' (terracote to you and me) and we had a blue (deep blue) room. These days its buttermilk and natural hessin......
OMG - mum going in for op tomorrow.....

motherinferior · 03/09/2013 10:56

I like the sound of those houses, dammit. Our house (and those of you who have visited the Inferiority Complex will bear witness to this) looks shabby-chic at best. I feel that as we will never achieve a truly chic look, we might as well just play up the shabbiness.

motherinferior · 03/09/2013 10:56

BD, which op again?

herbaceous · 03/09/2013 11:05

HB BTM! May the little darlings ? home and work ? be kind to you.

Re bright colours, I do like the odd bit of emerald green or deep pink, but only in dark rooms. I think too many bad trips in sunshine-yellow student houses has rather put me off anything too late-80s-headshop!

In other news, the head teacher of DS's school has emailed me, apologising for the total lack of information, saying a welcome pack should have been sent by wasn't, that we'll have lots of info by the end of the week, and that her first priority is improving communication with parents.

In the meantime, I have an appointment with the doctor to sign the necessary form, and a letter coming from Moorfields to ram the point home with a sledgehammer.

I bet now I'll love the place, and be in a total quandary about what to do should a place come up at another school...

Cremolafoam · 03/09/2013 11:19

Btm happy bloody birthday madam!
Hope you have an excellent day! Thanks

Herbs- that sounds a bit more positive- I do hope it arrives soon

Bd- gosh the op came around quickly . Fingers crossed for your lovely mum

Re bright colours yes . I seem to have retained a few in this house ( red polkadot wallpaper in kitchen / aubergine feature wall in living room )despite dreaming of clean white space .

Heart bypass MI.....

They phoned today - in tomorrow....

5/7 days in hospital. I am down back end of next week anyway.

hattymattie · 03/09/2013 12:00

Gosh BD - hope all goes well for your mother. A week in hospital doesn't even seem very much for a heart bypass but what do I know.
