Oh all the very best, BD!

Blackduck · 03/09/2013 12:06

Many thanks all...I may be looking for a mini crepey meet up next weekend....

Herbs - go for it. Yes, you may really like the school, but they haven't instilled you with confidence have they.

motherinferior · 03/09/2013 12:23

MrsS will be back in London

CointreauVersial · 03/09/2013 13:06

Hope you are having a lovely day, BTM! Cake and Wine later, I hope?

BD, here's wishing your mum a successful op and speedy recovery. Scary stuff, isn't it?

Herbs - you should definitely keep progressing towards finding a different school - if you are offered another place you can decide then whether to take it or not. But it does sound as though the head has belatedly woken up to how useless they have been. If it weren't your PFB I'd say just roll with it, but they shouldn't underestimate how stressful/confusing/scary it is for the first-timer starting school.

Stropperella · 03/09/2013 15:51

Happy birthday, BTM!

BD, {{}} for you and fingers crossed for your mum.

MrsS - GOOD LUCK with everyfink.

And MI - aaaaargh. Grin
More of a magnolia person meself these days. I had a sunshine yellow and blue sea-themed loo, but dh did away with that. And we had to paint over the psychedelic mural that I did in ds's room (for dd when she was a tiddler). We also had dark red and dark green ceilings, courtesy of the previous owner of the house. We are shabby but not chic.
This is a whole lot of unnecessary bad temper going on about back to school procrastination i.e. looking for ways to avoid getting stuff ready. This is mainly dd. Ho hum.

motherinferior · 03/09/2013 16:06

The Inferiorettes are trying to talk mr out of spraying some of the book cases silver Grin

beachyhead · 03/09/2013 17:05

Sounds like Mr MI has bought into the colour frenzy!

Good luck to all for return to school tomorrow. I suspect I will get home tonight at 830pm to a barrage of last minute name tapes, kit bags and ironing! Grrrr Hmm

And here's to a speedy return Mrs S, with all your bags tucked under your arms..

beachyhead · 03/09/2013 17:07

And good luck to MumBD tomorrow. I'll be around in town next Monday if you are still here.

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2013 17:38

Good wishes to your mum BD.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes - I have spent it cleaning my classroom (with my colleagues) as the decorators had been in and there was dust everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Anyway all the boards are backed and cupboards clean so ready for Inset and planning tomorrow (yipee!) and I think I have earned a glass of something!

Cremolafoam · 03/09/2013 18:01

Just right BTM . You deserve it after all that. !!
XX WineThanks

That was a typo - I meant me Blush

The office looks...subcontinental. I rather love it. Others might not. Done the fuschia chimney breast and the mango-coloured ceiling so far. Raspberry walls to come.

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2013 18:46

MI, you must update with photosSmile

Blackduck · 03/09/2013 19:07

Thanks all - spoken to dad, she has to be there at 11 tomorrow to be prepped. Down for op Thursday early. In a coma for 24 hours - so not back with it until Friday. I will spend weekend down there and am back down end of next week for a course so will be around then.

MI - photos Grin

herbaceous · 03/09/2013 20:05

Good luck to your mama BD. Always rather hairy, when parents come over all vulnerable.

Those of a sentimental bent may like to check out the photos of DS I've just put on my profile. In his uniform. He looks so pleased - I just hope it's all going to be OK.

Peppa Pig World tomorrow as a before-school treat. Should give him some conversational gambits with his new pals.

Cremolafoam · 03/09/2013 20:16

Fingers crossed for mum bd.
also hope you & your dad is ok with all the worry .sending hugs.

Style and beauty query:
What do you know about nail extensions ? There's a kind of gel stuff isn't thereWink
I want better looking claws. Garden renovation has done for them and they're ghastly.
Tell me all.

hattymattie · 03/09/2013 20:23

Herb's he looks gorgeous - what a sweetie. Good luck to him tomorrow. I just had an argument with DS as he doesn't want to wear shorts for his first day as unbeknownst to me shorts are not cool Confused - It is going to by 30 tomorrow! What's wrong with shorts FFS?

Crem - I can't help on nail extensions - I sort of nibble at mine when they get too long Blush

motherinferior · 03/09/2013 20:38

Herbs, am on phone but bet he looks enchantingGrin

DP hates the office and is clearly not pleased that DD1 has done a mango chimney breast in her room. I am majorly in the dog house for (a) going ahead without consulting him when allegedly he always consults me (b) making it clear that the office is my space and excluding others (c) not having done any other painting at all here ever, and then doing stuff to the office when frankly there are more urgent things - this is a good point but I hated it the way it was, pale blue (d) insisting on 'dark colours' and a 'dark ceiling' when I get so low in winter as am clearly setting self up for SAD.

I can't do anything right, it seems. Joyless sod.

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2013 21:09

Herbs, he's such a cutie - awww!

Cremo, DD and her mate got acrylic fake nails - seem to be lasting well.

Hatty, shorts at secondary school?Shock Unless you are in NZ, of course, and then you have to wear them with knee-high socks

Sod him, MIGrin

Fingers crossed, BD. Just checked with my DM (for the third time) whether she might come down sometime soon - cab, train, cab - and after many excuses, finally admitted she doesn't feel "strong enough"Confused Well, she is 82 I guess.

CointreauVersial · 03/09/2013 21:09

Oh MI, tell him to go paint himself magnolia.

We've just wandered up the road for a lovely end-of-holiday curry (although DD2 still has another day). I'm rather sad to see the end of the summer break; it's been a good one.

hattymattie · 03/09/2013 21:16

BTM - no uniforms in France - they are all in shorts - except DS - strange child.

MI - I need clarification - mango is yellow/orange - am I right? If that's the ceiling it's not dark. I think it sounds like it'll be cosy in winter anyway.

hattymattie · 03/09/2013 21:26

I should add - the shorts are just below the knee - not very short like the girls - I frequently have to yell at the DD's to change before they go to school as they try to rush out the door in very skimpy little numbers.

Blackduck · 03/09/2013 21:28

MI I don't see how you can do sad with that colour scheme Grin

Herbs those photos are gorg and bring back so many memories...

I am bracing myself - my dad will not deal with this well.

Blackduck · 03/09/2013 21:29

Actually sod him MI - it's a room of ones own Grin all women need one...

alto1 · 03/09/2013 21:46

Happy birthday BTM

Good health to your Mum Blackduck. DH had triple bypass 2 yrs ago at KCH. Let me know if anything you want to discuss.

Well done on the painting MI. claim your territory

QueenQueenie · 03/09/2013 21:47
