SD = Scan date
NC = New Claim
MR = Mandatory Reconsideration
CoC = Change of circumstances
LRC = low rate care
MRC = medium rate care
HRC = high rate care
LRM = low rate mobility
HRM = high rate mobility

This is a page where we are all in the same boat, trying to win what our children deserve, please be kind and support one another, we all have enough stress without adding to it 😁

I posted on the other thread, not sure which one is more likely to run so just copy and pasting!

Can I tentatively join? I haven't yet sent off the forms but plan to imminently - just need to print of paediatric report. I hadn't realised that Ds may be eligible - he's recently been diagnosed with combined ADHD but it's didn't occur to me. Filling in the form has made me realise how much "extra" we do for him, bit worried I've underestimated timings!
It also confused me as to why so many of you were having scans done on your children before I realised what it actually meant 😳

Sure!

if this helps, I spoke to a decision maker for my son a while ago who asked is there anything about sleeping like a sleep diary/food diary/activity diary that you can create and list to demonstrate how he needs extra support alongside the medical paperwork. You don’t have to but can help when you fill out all the forms etc! Good luck x

Hi guys. I did a COC for my son end of September. Got a decision end of January. There was no change in rates but award was extended.
I was planning on doing an MR but have managed to get some extra evidence and have sent that in.
Dla have said rather than treat it as an MR it can be treated as late evidence instead and it will be sent back to the original decision maker to look at again.
Has anyone else done this? If so how long did it take roughly for another decision?

Yes, i did this my COC got declined on the 29th of december sent in late evidence end of January. My daughter was awarded for 3 years and went from MRC to HRC xx

Just spoke to DLA. Rang to see if there was a decision made as afew days ago I was told it was with a case manager and the anxiety for me was through the roof.
We were declined in December. Made a new claim immediately with more evidence, SD 12.01.2026, decision made 16.02.2026, AWARDED! I can finally breathe!!!
Lower rate mobility & middle rate care for my beautiful daughter who has suspected ADHD.
I cannot tell you how much I wish each and every one of you the best. This community has been such a shoulder for me to lean on, even just reading and not saying anything on the toughest days.
Thank you all 🙏

The message I put in my journal the other day still hasn’t been answered so I feel like I may be wasting my time with that option but I definitely feel like this no statement thing can only be a good thing 🤞🏻

Scan date was around the 13th decision today but wont tell me, my daughters renewl forms went to our old address even tho i updated it, so had to do a new claim rang yesterday explained what happend lady then put me thru to service centre man on phone said he will put it as a renewal as it was there mistake he said he will put it to top of list and a decision was made today

Cassiex · 18/02/2026 15:52

I have just called and was told my daughter's renewal is now with a decision maker.. I called because my daughter went to see her pediatrician at the beginning of February and I am still waiting for a report, I wanted to know if I could send it in time and that I have not been getting any posts for the past five weeks so I might not have time to send it... A note has been put on the system for the decision maker to ask if she can call the doctor to obtain the report... Does anyone know how long after it goes with a DM until you get the decision.. and obviously with me calling up to say that my daughter had been seen but I don't have the report will the decision-maker actually called a doctor or just ignore?

Amazing well done you did it!!! My scan dates 20/01 so hopefully not longer for me now. My daughter is the same but she’s only 3.5yrs , not holding out much hope only had a letter from the school stating their concerns (mentioning adhd) and a letter from child development team to say they have accepted her referral for joint assessment. Obviously I filled it in as best as I could but we shall see! Xx

Thanks for your reply. You’re always so helpful ☺️ if I remember right I’m sure you got your decision around the same day as mine. 29th Jan? so it took roughly 4 weeks from going back to decision maker for another decision? Xx

Mygrannypantsrock · 18/02/2026 21:59

Forms received for one of ds renewals today which is dues 21.06.26.
Tonight I've spent the night printing his Echp and other letters.

Once they got the extra evidence it took two weeks for a new decision to be made. I had lots of extra evidence to send of though so im guessing thats why it took a while. Its no problem at all, im always happy to help! Xx

stacey0123 · 19/02/2026 12:13

Hi all, just to give others an idea of timeline this is my experience;
Claim rejected completely in December 2025. Immediately applied again with another NC and more evidence because I presumed it would be quicker than MR.
NC SD 12.01.2026
Decision made 16.02.2026 (told on phone using options 1 5 1 4 on 18.02.2026).
Rang UC today 19.02.2026, the lady walked me through how to make DLA change on online UC account,also walked me through how to update my caring element on UC. She stayed on the phone with me and once both were done she told me to put a message on my online journal asking for backdating. I did and asked for disabled child element, carers element & the monthly money we’d been entitled to with UC but lost because we were benefit capped, to all be backdated to our DLA scan date. (12.01.2026)
within 20 minutes they’d verified our daughter and left us a message on our online journal. Also send us a ‘to do’ to tell us about if we thought our daughter needed an extra bedroom so we filled that out and it said a decision would be made soon.
Also DLA back pay went in today. I think that’s all I can think of!
wishing everyone all the best outcomes possible 😮‍💨🤞😮‍💨

Hi i put a coc in and mine also stayed same rates I put in Mr in about 2 weeks ago but have just got a more detailed letter from his school im hoping they will just class it as late evidence and look at it again rather than wait a lifetime for MR im going to phone them tomorrow and see if this is something they will do as I only sent the school letter of yesterday has anybody else been in this situation but im presuming it will go to MR because I sent the forms off for that any advice would be really appreciated thanks
