NC x 2 SD 24/25/ June.

Ive got a long wait

Flowers90 · 08/08/2025 16:52

@HeartyGuide ive requested and received a change of circumstances form, but looks the same as new claim form? We currently receive lrc, our daughter has nf1, we've since received a dcd diagnosis. Her report explains how she struggles with balance, and all areas of daily life including eating, drinking, social and leisure activities and that us and school will have additional therapy targets for her. Didn't want to wait until renewal next year to send all this in

You are right not to wait for the renewal, as you have to tell the DWP promptly of any changes.
Unfortunately you have to complete the whole form again, I did.
Make sure when completing the form you explain clearly about the care needs your daughter has in addition to NF1(just looked it up). I have also looked up DCD.
Not sure how old your daughter is but if she has mobility problems I would also complete this part too.
Remember DLA is awarded based on the amount of care a child requires above a normal child. Letters from GPS etc will confirm diagnosis but they do not give an indication of daily care needs.
Also give a date when the extra care needs started.

Thanks for starting the new thread :) I’m waiting on an MR. Scan date is 13/02. I’m not holding out much hope as I didn’t really have any new information I just challenged their statement of reasons in the MR. It looked like their main refusal was due to masking at school. I sent further report from school where the teacher and SENCO address that he may well mask at school but not much else to say really. I’m hoping I at least know in the next few weeks either way. I don’t think I would take it to tribunal but will see! :)

Bossingit67 · 08/08/2025 17:24

Just seen someone on FB just get their MR awarded from 16/01 so maybe I have longer to wait…!

Donna543987 · 08/08/2025 17:37

Just got off the phone and my daughter has been awarded HRC and LRM until the day before she’s 17 (she’s 15 now) so happy for her and it’s such a relief!

MR 03/02.

I've not bothered to call for any updates yet as I assume it won't change anything other than waste my time.

My son received a standing frame from physio this week (15month but can't weight bear or sit unaided yet due to his disabilities). Is it worth sending them an update regarding the frame, or is that unlikely to affect any decisions made?

Absolutely send as evidence, even if your not sure send it and send a letter with this detailing how he's using it and why he was given it, I feel like they have to have everything so clearly spelt out to them as sadly I don't think they really take the time they need to on the claims xxx
