Just had a text to say someone will be calling me today between 1pm & 6pm before they can reconsider my claim they need to speak to me.
does anyone know what they will be wanting to discuss so I can be prepared?

I wonder if you both have the same DM? The things ive seen on here they have asked is mostly about mobility or if there is something they don’t understand about your child’s condition and bank details if they are sending a large sum of money? Good luck with your calls

What’s the current wait times for COC and MRs in Northern Ireland? I think they just don’t like us doing changes to what they’ve awarded so they bump up the wait times hoping we won’t do it?

No time frame for COC said 'it will be done when its done' and they keep moving the goal post for MRs told me last week it will be 16 weeks minimum, we're 16 weeks today so ill be ringinngabit later to see were kts at

What did they ask you? Glad it went well hopefully you get a good outcome very soon

LocoCoco13 · 12/08/2025 13:52

Just rang, he said it will take another 3-4 weeks. So thats the goal post moved AGAIN. Im actually so annoyed.

The only good thing about it is we have a few appointments in the next few weeks so can have even more evidence

katiewil · 12/08/2025 13:59

Renewal date November- just wondering if any of you have read the guidance that DM’s are supposed to follow on the gov website? States on there how long the awards are supposed to be.. interesting that high needs autism should be until age 12 but they only give 2 year awards.. surely giving everyone the correct award length would stop so many renewal claims coming in? 🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s so annoying isn’t it! They must roughly know what the wait times will be, I think if they sent a letter out in the first place saying a clear amount of weeks we will be waiting instead it wouldn’t be so bad. The last letter i received was 15 weeks but I know there is no point in calling because there is so many coc claims still waiting before me.

Iv just had mine she didnt ask me any questions she just said they will make a decision by Friday at the latest and that it was just a courtesy call

Donna543987 · 12/08/2025 15:16

I think gou might of misinterpreted it because when ive read before, its renewals until age 12 after the first 2 year award they typically have it at 4 years and so on, but its up to DM discretion especially with things like autism when they can come on so much with time (althkugh unfortunately not all do) my son high needs autistic was given a indefinite award from 3.5 yesrs old. My daighter who is profoundly disabled in all areas was only given a 2 yesr award, I think it majorly goes on evidence too if kts even slightly positive that there might be progression then theyll only give shorter awards

Yup the letter i received said 15 weeks too. They should clearly state on the letters that its taking 25+ weeks and maybe people wouldnt be calling all the time, and if its quicker than that peoplengwt a nice little suprise (or disappointment)

When ds was 5 he was given a 13 year award. Hrc lrm. Diagnosis asd, global development delay, non verbal.
I was shocked by the length of his award.

It states on there award until 12 or 2 years (whichever of greater) and then from age 10 it states award until 16

I have tried attaching a picture but it’s not uploading for some reason

flawlessflipper · 12/08/2025 18:33

@katiewil you have misunderstood. That means the guidance suggests the award is until 12y/o unless 12y/o is less than 2 years away, in which case award for 2 years. However, the guidance is just that: guidance. It is not a hard and fast rule. If awarded, some will have shorter award lengths and some longer. It depends on the individual circumstances. This applies whether it is a first claim or renewal/COC.

Dvm7 · 12/08/2025 18:44

Not sure if this is actually the case?
My SD for new claim is May 7th (forms requested by phone early April) and I've not heard a thing yet. I'm in NI.

It will be nice if they awarded my daughters coc until she is 12, she wasn’t diagnosed when I first applied and now she is with high autism at 4.
