MR 4th April..
My child has now been permanently excluded from school, some of the reasons are listed on this letter, is it worth me sending as additional evidence although everything else I've sent already explains the behaviours in this way but this letter it's kind of all in the same place.
Should I send?
Side note: We have a governing board meeting to overturn the permanent exclusion and sendiass are involved and the EP with that as its disability discrimination as they haven't followed plans or risks that are in place or restraint that should have been used, the school have put other children and my child at risk and not controlled the situation on many occasions as they should have 🥹
Please don't judge the behaviour my child is Asd, adhd, pda and has ptsd.

Anyway what do we think about sending this?

I would send this in, it explains well what your child is like at school perfectly. Can I ask how old your child is? I’m dreading my daughter starting school next week because I know all this is to come 😞

I would send it in, as it is more evidence of your child's needs.
Sorry to hear that your child's needs have not been met and i hope you get the exclusion overturned.

I think we may need a new thread, does anyone know how to do it?

I had my MR back received a letter Friday. Decline scan date for Mr was end of march. I spoke within someone a couple of weeks ago and I told them I would be sending in more evidence around September. He told me I would have plenty of time im looking at end of September/October time for a decision. Yet it's been done alot sooner I think 21 weeks I waited. Pathetic reasons why it was declined I swear they don't even look at the evidence. Because I had sent in evidence for all the requirements for HRM. I was told to go to a tribunal by a family member but I just don't have the energy or time. I hope everyone else gets the decision they are expecting and aren't waiting to much longer.

I’m in the same boat, it’s awful isn’t it?! Take a breather then go for it! I wasn’t going to either but I know my son is entitled to it and it would be a huge help so I’m currently waiting for a court date! I’m trying to put it to the back of my mind as much as possible, it is hard but I think because hes already been declined I think I have in my head he will get declined again and court will be months away so I don’t feel as anxious or stressed about it as much for some reason, think I’ve just accepted that it’s not happening but fingers crossed, might get a surprise one day! Keep your chin up and stay strong 🤗

@Curlycookie5 @Garfield456 Thank you both, I'll send it first class on Monday, my child's needs is already explained in this manner over pages of evidence but it's scattered over 27 pages which the DM may not look at it all so yeah maybe sending this additional evidence cause it's self explanatory over a few sentences hopefully will explain more, also got a neurodevelopmental letter and permanent exclusion letter to send anyway so may as well include this too.
My child has just turned 14 and had significant needs all his life I've just never claimed before.

@Garfield456 Thank you everything's a battle with disabled children isn't it, my child is probably better placed in a special school but I'm not going to let the mainstream school get away with an illegal exclusion so I'm doing my representations to the governing board, even if they don't overturn the permanent exclusion it may help other children in the school get their needs met if i hold them accountable for their failings and risks presented to my child and other students 👏

It really is, as if our children dont have it hard enough to start with. Even if that is the case the school should of informed you they could not meet your childs needs, and then worked with you and your child to find ways your childs needs would be met ( different school, reduced timetable, etc)not exclude them. Quick enough to take the extra funding though.
Iam dreading secondary education for my children, already looking into homeschooling options, not that any of us should be in a postion to be made to feel that this is our only viable option.
I really hope your child's exclusion is overturned, a win for your child is a win for all of ours 😊

I’m sorry you are having to go through this, every child is entitled to an education and I don’t feel schools are trained up enough to support children with additional needs. Especially those with higher needs and pda ( a lot of schools don’t understand it ) my daughter is nearly 5 asd, pda and is awaiting genetic testing because she’s not making progress, so we are only just about to start primary school, and all the conversations I’ve had to put things in place for her I may aswell be talking to a brick wall. Have they tried meds? This is what they are saying they will be putting my daughter on as she gets older, but I don’t know if they work? This would be mostly for her violence. It’s so hard as a parent all we do it fight to get the right support for our children with little outcome. Good luck at your meeting and with your MR decision

Curlycookie5 · 31/08/2025 09:39

For everyone that has just received decision for a coc, did they extend the award length? I’m due to receive a renewal form in December.

It's so hard trying to look after my 3 year old who physically doesn't sleep aswell as all the other struggles. Aswell as looking after my other disabled son they both have disabilities. I just honestly don't think I have the time or energy to go and sit through court. I know there are so many people going through the same thing. Iv had to drop my hours at work because it's impossible to it all. And what is more frustrating is speaking to the people on the phone to be put through to rude people who just don't want to help. The excuses on the letters to say why they don't qualify for mobility is they can walk unattended in familiar places. I litrally sent in and said they need support constantly even just up the road they need to be restrainted. I swear they don't look at all the evidence. I have managed to get a disability blue badge with out mobility rate for my son so that is a massive help as it says you need mobility rate for this but luckily with what I sent in and stated why I needed it was good enough to be awarded one. Because if I cant park in a safe place that isnt mother and baby or a wide space , I will just abandon what I needed to do and go home. I litrally try and avoid going out anywhere because it's such a nightmare and gives me anxiety. And if I do go out I have to take soemone with me as it's impossible to do on my own.

Renewal is due to end 4th sept, just rang and decision was made 27th august, impressive seen as I only sent the forms back on the 14th, so less than 2 weeks for a decision. We’ve kept the HRC LRM, stress over :)

Hey hun I actually got a reply today I called them yesterday after posting on here and the man said he will put a note on the journal which he did and within an hour I got a reply from someone from service centre saying a decision will be made by the 7th Sept which I was happy about but today about 4.30pm I got 2 letters on the journal saying they have agreed to back payment nothing about how much or when but I guess as it was late in the date I should hear back next week x
Hopefully yours won’t be too long now review been completed x

I also got the letters today they have done it speedy - no amount just that it’s been accepted to back payment. Have you heard anymore
they said someone will be in touch regarding moneys owed.
